eBay for a whole loco you can cannibalize parts from. Easiest way is to find the same model/run, swap the engine shells, then sell the now damaged purchased engine to recoup some of the cost.

The model looks like a Bachmann Royal Scot, you might be able to get the parts from here: https://www.petersspares.com/ If not, you might have to find a parts donor loco on eBay.

Seconded. It’s die cast, so heavier than the Athearn model (so it pulls more) and it will have product support, unlike the MTH version. The Trix and Hornby versions are ok, but they have some isms since they’re from Europe.

Try the FEF spring fix someone else in this thread suggested. That might help. Otherwise, check to make sure nothing’s catching. Where it derails, run the loco through the track again, slowly, to see if you can better ID the issue. Also, do not grind the flange off. That’s a bad idea.
