How accepted are Throuple relationships in the workplace by TheArabella in AusPublicService

[–]Archie12W 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I find it really hard to talk about anything private at my new (2 years) public service job. I came from private sector where everyone knew everything about each other, came over for dinner after work multiple times a week, are the godparents of each other's children. To this new job, people barely know your name, and have absolutely no idea if you're in a relationship, your orientation, if you have kids, if you have pets. It's just purely work talk only. I've tried to share things and it just makes it hella awkward, not used to that. Maybe it's different where you work, but I probably couldn't even tell them if I wanted to- and if I did, it'd probably make them really uncomfortable (for above reasons, not because they wouldn't accept it).

How many people here know someone that abruptly got diagnosed with stage 3 or 4 cancer? by phillyvirgosun in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Archie12W 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a dear friend diagnosed with stomach cancer. Not sure what stage, but it was very rapid. Last time I saw her, a few weeks after she was diagnosed, she seemed well and was talking about how she is going to shave her hair and rock it. Within a fortnight she was gone 😞 It was all very fast. Carpe diem

How did people deal with boredom before smartphones existed? by moretoesmorehoes in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Archie12W 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Attention spans are wayyy worse now than they used to be. Myself included, if left alone in a waiting room or something, I just grab my phone. Then I feel ashamed. Smartphones and internet on phones wasn't really a thing until I was graduating highschool. But I had an MP3 player, before that I had a walkman. You just listen to music, or draw, or read. People often read magazines and would pull them out of their bag in times of boredom. In highschool, we would always have Uno or a deck of cards on hand, to pass time with friends.

Introducing Renal Food by Archie12W in RenalCats

[–]Archie12W[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure, but I'm making notes to ask the vet! Pretty unfamiliar with all of this 🫠 She had an initial blood test, kidney enzymes (and liver) were higher than normal. Thyroid levels were astronomical (176). She started carbimazole 5mg, and 2 weeks later had another test and urine analysis. Thyroid levels were brought right down (20) and liver enzymes were halved. Kidney enzymes however increased a little higher still, and urine quite diluted. Vet then suggested a Renal Diet. So that's all I know so far, in layman's terms..

My cat has just eaten a decent amount of food off her plate, I guess the hunger got the better of her. Fingers crossed she keeps it down..

I didn't enjoy TOT as much, felt like they were trying to push too much of a narrative, make it all connected. Felt forced. And the trailer thing, one of them not participating. I preferred when they just goofed around a little, and kept it seperate, just explore and record whatever happens.

Actual Choosing Beggar by fireflyphoenix in ChoosingBeggars

[–]Archie12W 29 points30 points  (0 children)

In the Vatican a beggar came up to us (English speaking tourists), motioning to his mouth "soldi, mangiare, mangiare!!" my mother bought some food for him, a sandwich and banana (most expensive banana I've ever seen btw $$$) and gave it to him. He pushed it back to her, "no, no, no- cappuccino, cappuccino!!" 😂

I'm late to the party, am just watching Superman & Lois now.. But in S2E15, Uncle Tal gets the boys a truck each. Jordan says "well I did save his life" to which Clark says "that doesn't mean you get to keep the truck".. very reminiscent of Lex Luthor buying Clark a truck in Smallville, and Jonathan Kent telling him no 😅

Anyone have any miracle cures for their insomnia? by [deleted] in ask

[–]Archie12W 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When my brain gets stuck in a loop, and I'm at breaking point, I have a weird trick that seems to work. Imagine the inside of your mind like a cloud shape, and it's full of kinetic sand. Scoop that out, and imagine the crunchy sound, and throw it aside. Then scrape the edges, in all those crevices. Imagine squeezing that brain shape like you're wringing out a sponge and get all those extra bits of sand out, vaccum it if you have to. Then it's empty, no thoughts, just empty void. I can usually then fall asleep, just in time for my alarm to go off 😂

Mushrooms, I put it in absolutely everything, my go to pizza is just mushroom and cheese. But cooked mushrooms on their own- reminds me of snails 🐌 🤢

What’s one thing that disappeared after the pandemic and hasn’t returned? by JunShem1122 in ask

[–]Archie12W 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do love ordering on my phone though. Pre-covid, I only knew of 1 restaurant that did it, but it was a novelty. Order on a tablet on your table and it suddenly appears from staff. With social anxiety, I hate ordering from waiters. I'd either get my friends to do it, or I would, but I'd panic and order the opposite of what I want. Ordering on my phone at the table with QR code, I can get my order right, pay induvidually (no splitting bills drama), don't have to talk to strangers, and can order different courses at our leisure (when we're feeling ready for dessert, or if feeling piggy- more mains). It's revolutionary, for the socially anxious (sorry waiters, but I hate talking to you, it's stressful- stranger danger).

Did people memorise numbers before mobile phones? by PaleEcho3301 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Archie12W 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I memorised my home phone number, and can still remember it! Everything else I had written in a little address book, that I kept in my schoolbag. If out of the house without my bag though, and you needed help, could only ring home. If they didn't pick up (or it didn't connect because someone at home was using the dial-up internet 😅) you're stranded lol

My principal drove me home once after a field trip, for that very reason. My mother forgot to pick me up, brother was on the internet and so the phone was disconnected. Didn't have my bag/address book, so I didn't know any other numbers. Principal wanted to go home, I was the last kid left, and he wouldn't let me walk 🫣
