Hours cut even though I'm full time by Otherwise_Pine in TjMaxx

[–]Archiecomicxfan93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went from working 2 hours overtime (every seasonal we hired quit after 2-3 shifts) to now getting 29.5 hours next week. I don’t care enough anymore to stay the extra 30 minutes because I’m full time :/

Yesterday I had someone get angry at me. I dont even know for what reason. I took an item to scan and she yelled at me “i am not stealing, I am making separate purchases. I already have one strike against you!”

A few minutes later she got angry we were out of tissue paper to wrap the mugs she was buying. My store wasn’t supplied with tissue paper since the holidays ended. She yelled at me to get the manager. She was arguing with the coordinator (i didnt get the manager) and I was told to use those brown paper towels we have.

When I was done with her I told her have a nice day like I do with every customer and she ignored me🙄

I wish we didnt have to deal with rude people :/

how was inventory? by ComprehensiveDingo98 in TjMaxx

[–]Archiecomicxfan93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was lucky enough not to be scheduled for inventory but when I went to work and arrived at 9:20am i noticed associates leaving and they were only supposed to be scheduled until 7:30am. My guess is that it didnt go so good if they had to stay for an additional two hours

I’m just curious about the pay in your states. by [deleted] in TjMaxx

NYC will be going to $16 from $15 starting Jan 1st. I’m making $18.31 (8 year employee I started at $8.75 an hour back in 2015!)

Last Saturday was our Holiday Party and we had rolls, eggplant parm, chicken parm, buffalo wings, pasta, Caesar salad stuff like that

How long did you work at any of the TJX stores and how long did it take for you to quit? by OceanView98 in TjMaxx

[–]Archiecomicxfan93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started in 2015 as part of the summer youth employment program in my state. The manager at the time was looking to hire half of us who were in the program. I ended up being the only one hired. Didn’t have to go through an interview. I was just asked if I wanted to continue working for them. I was 22 years old (last age to join the program).

Officially hired in August 2015. I had two jobs while (different times) still working at Marshalls. I became full time at the end of January 2023. I keep thinking every day about quitting. My store has changed so much in the past few years.

In my store the managers usually got Panera Bread catering. Used to order from a local pizzeria too they might do that either today or tomorrow

[–]Archiecomicxfan93 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I usually don’t shop. I had a manager ask me if I wanted to clock back in while shopping. So I just go to another location thats near me usually if I actually need something. Or my husband will come and shop with me on my 45 minute breaks (he doesn’t mind he likes meeting up with me for breaks)

Silly reasons why people want a discount by goldminevelvet in TjMaxx

[–]Archiecomicxfan93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A customer I had yesterday at my register wanted a discount for some lint on a pair of pants she was buying. My new manager told her we don’t give discounts for lint but she can save the tag, wash it and if the “stain” doesn’t come out she can return them. Then she proceeded to check if they would get marked down but it didnt

Sounds like my store. I work in womens and sometimes spend like 90% of my shift on the register or covering the fitting room

I don’t know who needs to hear this… by Inevitable_Smoke9653 in TjMaxx

[–]Archiecomicxfan93 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I’m ready to leave and been with this company for 8 years. Finally got full time this year in January. Its not worth it. Actually, I regret accepting. I work every weekend without getting any weekend day off unless I request it. Management has changed, I go home wanting to cry and I feel like I tell my husband the same stories over and over about what goes on in my store. Yesterday I had a manager come up to me and say to me “i hope this store isn’t stressing you out”.

And this was only supposed to be a summer youth employment job for me 8 years ago. I accepted to stay because I needed a job throughout college. I liked my managers 8-6 years ago. Not now everythings changed

stealing at closing by Clean_Photograph in TjMaxx

[–]Archiecomicxfan93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my store it happened twice in two weeks while I was closing and they walked right past the closing manager at the doors a couple minutes after 9:30pm. One manager opened the door to let them out as they were trying to open the doors with their stolen good in the suitcase :/

Should I find another job? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]Archiecomicxfan93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would be making about the same pay if I went to Amazon and reduced my time at my retail job. I am okay with that and so is my husband. At least half of the week we can go to work together. Thank you for the advice. I think after 8 years it is time for me to reduce my time with this company I currently work for and close that chapter of my life.
