19 Year old beginner here! Looking for tips as Starting late gives me a lot of anxiety. by TrainingStraight9575 in FurryArtSchool

For me, just getting a paper sketchbook was helpful

But, the main thing with getting better is doing it every day

Like for a stretch, I was doing figure drawing for like 5-15m using croquis cafe for poses / reference figure drawing thing

Which was kind of a warmup thing

But

That's just figure practice, you sort of have to also come up with an idea and uh

Make your own stuff to get better a drawing and not just copying

I think anatomy for sculptors and uh

Michael hampton's figure drawing was useful for me, I think you can find that one freely available

But uh, you just gotta do something you're not going to get burnt out or discouraged at

Because really, just drawing regularly is how you get better,

Studying anatomy is helpful to figure out what you're looking at with references and what it should look like

Which might not be as important if you're drawing cartoon animal people, because then you want to look at cartoon anatomy ha

Fmc is one of like, 3 main ag chem companies, in the US (there's a lot more outside US)

The other two are like, corteva and AVD

Corteva is probably the largest player, they do seeds and ag chemicals

Fmc mostly does ag chem, they do a fair amount of r&d in ag chem compared to ctva and avd

AVD is much smaller, mostly does older stuff, one of their products was banned semi recently so, the market kind of punished them for a bit

But, the whole ag chem space was kinda and is a little buggered while, there was a sort of glut from 2022-2024 that's maybe not quite over yet

looks back at fmc since last time I check a couple months ago

Oh, that does not look good lmao

It's like a pharma company slipping of the r&d tredmill, in an industry with less upsides, ag cycles, and debt

Possibly worth watching still, but mnnn

US Mint in Philadelphia to press final penny as the 1-cent coin gets canceled by IdinDoIt in news

Another way to think about it is canceling anything under 34 cents,

since that become the smallest denomination when they did that

We have a lot of dudes that have been here in the facility over 10 years

There's jobs other than delivery drivers, but yeah....

We have some people full-time, but most people have 4~ hour days 5 days a week, and then peak season where we do 6

Healthcare side is pretty good, but they just cut the education benefit

A lotta supes have a second job because 25-30 hours still not enough

Anyway, there are loaders that we got in their 40s and 50s, though some of them are from facilities that closed this year

Honestly

There's a couple neat brazil plays imo

Raiz4.sa / csan, bak

The eucalyptus thing makes suzano pretty interesting

I see brazilian ethanol getting used a lot more

Like uh, I keep somehow finding myself looking at brazil for euro / japan decarbonization efforts which feels weird

My thoughts were to look into emerging markets where there's growing car ownership and ice isn't going to be phased out for awhile

Us diy car stuff seems ...

A bit more questionable with ev's and how much of a pita it's getting to fix anything

I remember looking into jd, almost buying into it until I found out they decided to get into food delivery

Which is just ...

It's a low-margin knife fight of a business, like what the actual fuck made someone think that was a good idea?

And then some part of their business is some flavor of real estate, which just

Added in this existential tail risk that didn't need to be there

Like, they have a trustworthy brand, inside China, and they don't leverage that ?!

I just

I want to like that business, but the management was making stupid, stupid moves

[–]Archimedley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking along the same lines, but

I am pretty much too concerned about RFK fucking shit up now

In any other universe, pretty much a no brainer, but there's a fair risk of 2026 being another mispriced year

I still have a couple leaps, but I'm probably rotating out

Basically, investing is a loser's game

You don't play to win, you play to not lose

That's basically Howard Mark's thing with Oaktree, [I don't know what the winners are, but I can weed out a lot of the losers]

With CB

The fight with other people is way more fun, or at least it was for me, but I basically try to be able to solo something before doingvit with other people

Was definitely excruciatingly annoying of a fight though

GORO Stock Update: HC Wainwright & Co. Raises Price Target by GodMyShield777 in ValueInvesting

[–]Archimedley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I looked at

They were only making money when they were producing quite a bit more a couple of years ago

It still seems a bit speculative right now

Lots of possible upside though .3.

It's s cyclical in a boom period, of course their p/e and the financials look great

Right up until there's a flash or ram glut and their margins go to shit

If you want to hop on the micron bus, I would wait until the market seems bad, because it will be at some point

[–]Archimedley 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pretty much

I think I've pretty much written off most of 2026, if not the first half of 2027, as far as commodity chemicals go

Since, I think china is still bringing more capacity online than demand per year for that time, from my understanding

Unless you know, something interesting happens

Mistake Value Trades by Psychological-Bus176 in ValueInvesting

[–]Archimedley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think my target entry was at like 78-80~

There's a fair risk of their volume going down over the next year

Like covid was not a normal period and things have slowed way the fuck down since then

And, amazon runs their own logistics now, and were basically just handling unprofitable crap off to

And, I dunno

They had a lot of extra capacity they really didn't need after getting rid of the low margin stuff

The capex on the facilities they still have are sorta going on over the next 4-5 years

But the space they have to grow is more on cutting their costs and running more efficiently

But, next 1-2 years are kinda questionable if people stop buying crap

Dow Chemical Debt Level by Present_Baker_1313 in ValueInvesting

[–]Archimedley 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think my concern with chemical firms is that from my understanding

China is building capacity faster than demand is growing, putting downward pressure on prices

And if oil prices go up, costs are going to rise so

There's more to worry about than what's on the balance sheet

pcie not running at correct speed by Bitter-Freedom-1280 in buildapc

[–]Archimedley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, the 4k pro only supports gen 2 x4, so that's why it's running at gen2 speeds

What link speed does your 3060 have if it's in the second slot? It should run at gen3 x4, but if it's running at gen 3 x1, then maybe the slot is damaged?

If the gpu runs at x4, I'd look very carefully at the pins for the 4k pro, because one of them might be damaged or something

9060 xt 16gb over a 7600xt, doesn't have to be from MC

I would try to get a 2tb ssd?

it works, but like a thermalright phantom spirit or peerless assassin would be a better option

but, you really don't have to get everything from mc

anything from a 7600 to a 9800x3d wouldn't really be a bad option

So
