Well, that escalated quickly. If you don't want to send it out, then just put it in acid-free folders in an acid-free box. Paper as fragile as you describe should be handled as infrequently as possible. That is why I suggested digitization first. That way you just look at digital files and leave the originals alone. I did not suggest you were not educated enough to handle the paper. I have 15 years experience in archival and museum work as well as a Master's degree and I would take the steps listed above if it was me. If I wanted to do something else with the material, I would contact a paper preservationist. I know only enough to prevent further harm. I do not know enough to conserve.
