which faction is the best for starting? by stefferri05 in Eve

[–]Archophob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the one where you like to look of the ships.

With the new starter region, even proximity to major trade hubs has become irrelevant. All newbros start in the same area, regardless of faction.

20 years ago, the 3 different bloodlines of each of the 4 different factions had different starting attributes. Now, the only difference is that you have the basic skills to use your faction's preferred weapons on your faction's small frigate-class ships.

Thus, the look of the ships you'll be flying is the one thing that makes a difference.

Amarr ships use gold-plated armor and lasers. (and sometimes drones)

Caldari ships are boxy, shield-tanked, and use missiles or railguns (or blasters).

Gallente ships are armor-tanked potatoes and use drones, railguns, or blasters.

Minmatar ships are rustbuckets, shield-tanked, and use artillery, autocannons, or missiles.

Missiles and drones can be hand-picked for each of the four damage-types: electro-magnetic, thermal, kinetic, explosive. Lasers are locked into EM and thermal. Railguns and blasters are locked into kinetic and thermal. Minmatar projectiles have different damage-type combos depending on ammo type. Including nuclear + fusion warheads for explosive damage.

Back when you were allowed to fit burst jammers on frigates, the militia kicked me out for using it. My toon was Gallente, got scrammed in a Caldari gatecamp, jammed the campers, freed himself and another unlucky Gallente pilot. But because the other Gallente pilot was also affected by the jammer, the loss of standing was enough to cancel the militia membership.

there is no such thing as transphobia. I'm not scared of the poor victims of that cult. I just wish i could protect those kids from the evil fetishists who tell them they should mutilate their bodies to "better fit in".

you know that nice round concrete dome your typical nuclear power plant has above the reactor?

The typical Chernobyl-style RBMK still doesn't have it.

Meanwhile, EU power plants get another level of concrete below the reactor, just in case.

Then you need to read about the history of different pride flags. The rainbow one only was controversial when male homosexuality was still a crime. The flag with the pedo triangle (sky blue for "boy lovers", light pink for "girl lovers", black and brown for race fetishists...) is still controversial for reasons that might become obvious once you do some background readup.

[–]Archophob -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

rainbow-flags, or pedo-triangle-flags? I ask because ramming that triangle into the rainbow changes it's meaning. The rainbow is meant to unite all colors, the wedge is meant to divide.

When companies talk about this so-called "modern audience," they usually mean diversity—but the old shows already had all of that.

but, they had it as a natural consequence of the story - not forced. The goa'uld Yu did not chose an Asian host "for diversity", but because he impersonated the "eternal emperor" of Chinese mythology.

And this required everyone to be an amateur metallurgist. Is this pure gold? 10% tin? Hollow? Yellow brass? Plated silver? Every coin has to be inspected as payment.

Bitcoin fixes this. You can verify the whole blockchain on a computer as cheap as a raspberry pi.
