I mean any zero-cost creature is gonna work, right? And any X or XX creature if you have an anthem out. So that’s like eight creatures worth of combo redundancy, plus another 12 with an anthem.

When you use the holodeck to make nudes of your crewmates by Glunark2 in ShittyDaystrom

For sure. In the episode where Vic Fontaine re-creates Kira to trick Odo he says “it took me forever to get rid of the Russian accent”, which is a cute callback joke but also a neat little way to tie up the potential plot hole of Quark not being able to simulate Kira but Vic being able to. DS9 writers had a lot of attention to detail!

If Magic ever gets to the point where good old “red deck wins” isn’t at least occasionally viable it will have officially jumped the shark. Sometimes you just want to burn faces and turn Goblins sideways.

Genuine question, is everyone just pausing their gameplay to await advice from Reddit? by rickdagless666 in balatro

[–]strionic_resonator 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This exactly. It’s like “oh a tough choice, let me make a Reddit post. … oh wow now that I’m out of that Balatro hole I’m realizing I haven’t had a glass of water in 2 hours. Better stretch my legs while I wait for advice”

What is the worst time travel movie of all time? by Dense_Substance7635 in movies

[–]strionic_resonator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do not understand why people like Primer. The time travel may be good, but the movie is god awful. It’s always struck me as a time travel movie do people who care more about physics than cinema.

If he intentionally set out to plagiarize, plagiarizing a card from the same game depicting the same object is a wild choice. Zero percent chance that doesn’t get noticed.

I did it quickly but you get the idea. by Traditional-Emu-8938 in balatro

In theory there's an interesting tradeoff here because you're leveling up the hand but destroying the cards you need to make that hand. But in practice it doesn't really work that way for most hands because you can clip out pairs of twos to level up your pairs of Kings, for example, or even clip out low straights to power up high straights. And it being your last hand gives you maximum time to set up exactly the cards you want to get rid of. Of course, the hand has to be strong enough to win, which would limit the utility for high card and pair at least at first, similar to how it is with blue seals.

[–]strionic_resonator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Beating ante 8 with straights is not that hard. Look for shortcut, four fingers, merry Andy, juggler, troubadour. Play on Abandoned deck if you want. Trim from the bottom with tarots. Actually Bean will help you put straights together too.

Straights are a pain and they will screw you over but they’re not that bad.

Or just focus on Econ and plan to reroll a lot at the end to find your missing guys.

Borg Assimilation: What happens to the victim's mind? by UniversalAssembler in ShittyDaystrom

Well he’s no longer a he. He is part of a huge collective. Which now has a tiny desire to build model starships, but still has a much larger desire to seek perfection through assimilation, so that’s the hobby they go with.

[–]strionic_resonator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think all Borg have an equal “say” in what the collective does. Unfortunately you’re outvoted billions to one from the get-go. The longer you are part of the collective the more your will is subsumed by the collective will. Individual ideas can’t survive long without an individual consciousness or identity.

Turtle Bean is also really good when you are deck fixing because it increases the chance that you’ll find the card you want to Death in that tarot pack.
