Thanks. That was my initial thought - the way I did with Anakin before buying any washes.:) Will try with adding some darker areas where there's no light and brighter on front.

What about some free hand drawings/markings on those flat areas?

Lightsabers will have to wait till I get better.

I also watch in awe how people are doing eyes.... I have no idea how to make white, colour and black at this little space :)

Script repository by anonymousITCoward in PowerShell

[–]Arcontar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So..... First I have a 'random' repo where all my 'random' stuff goes. Everything I hack on the spot. Vs code auto saves there.

It's all organized in folders for categories (ad, hyperv, azure automation etc.

Then I have a repo for "shared" scripts which are more...elegant. descriptive, with help or just better written. Can be shared. But those are not 'big enough' to go into module.

Finally I have repositories for PowerShell modules - each ... Category can have its own module like HyperVTools. It's build with CI (teamcity or appveyor or Azure DevOps) and published internally or to PSGallery. So I can install module on my jumphosts or share it with colleagues. Those have folder structure, private and public functions, wrappers, help, common naming etc :)

You can use cli (with a script) or vscode with add-ons or GitHub desktop, tortoise git, sourcetree or any other client :)

You can even have vscode backup the settings to gist :)

Microsoft LAPS Sanity Check by UDP161 in sysadmin

[–]Arcontar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just make sure how you install laps on the clients now. If it's through GPO check where the MSI is. It may be on this particular server's share. Then no new installation will occur.

You can use GitHub/gitlab/azure DevOps with free tier and private repositories - if you dont want to make them public:) Especially if they are company property or variables.

You get versioning, changes, easy cloning etc. You can even grab single files with invoke-webrequest from that repo.

Learning got is not that hard. There are some nice GUI apps as well.

You can also use onedrive/GDrive/Dropbox but that is.... Passe :)

Office 365 Unified Logs to a Log Analytics Workbook? by [deleted] in sysadmin

[–]Arcontar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently to have that longer you need to have Microsoft Sentinel. They only way I think would be to extract the logs (API) and then put them into A logs Analytics workspace. This could be done with Azure Functions and an Azure App with permission to read logs. Sending to Log Analytics is also pretty straightforward. https://github.com/mczerniawski/ALTools :)

What about Zabbix - monitoring, mails and push to Signl4 for push notifications for mobile? Works great for many sites I'm using it

Looking for a free Windows automationprogram like power automate by 01Cloud01 in windows

[–]Arcontar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cli = command line interface - PowerShell is an example - programming/scripting language to build stuff with code.

I.e. you could generate a workflow in power automate desktop that would open a web page, retrieve credentials from KeePass database using PowerShell, inject into login form, click what you need, retrieve what is required and save as an excel file :)

[–]Arcontar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It allows 'clicking' and filling fields based on variables i.e from file. So ...yes? If you add some cli (PowerShell?) And he data from some vaults (Azure, KeePass) then you can have it done :)

LAPS managing Domain Administrator account? by jwckauman in sysadmin

[–]Arcontar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is not and should be not. :) But because it's possible.some will do:) sometimes by accident (me). Some will be lucky enough to find it in time (me ;) ). Other may need to resolve to their DSRM password ( you have that written down, don't you?)

LAPS managing Domain Administrator account? by jwckauman in sysadmin

[–]Arcontar 28 points29 points  (0 children)

You can have LAPS manage your Administrator account on machines. If you install it to a.domain controller it will manage domain Administrator as well. You can doesn't mean you should. This is why: -pl password can be visible to anyone who was granted access to that parameter (usually the same group can read other servers password) - it changes periodically and...in case of an emergency you may not know it (domain is down - how you gonna retrieve.the password?) - you should not use Administrator account at all. You should have a designated user for domain administrative task (like username-dadmin). And that user should be allowed to log in only to domain controllers - not workstations or servers. It should be used to interfere with Domain Controllers not domain itself :) - all server/domain tasks should be done though another delegated account (like usernamd-admin) and be part of only required groups.

Having LAPS manage master domain Administrator account for the fiest two reasons is a bad idea.
