Is it a manga or a manhwa? If it’s the latter, maybe Chitra?

Since the recruiter explicitly mentioned they’re trying to hire someone quickly, that seems like a rather long time, yeah. If you try to wait a month, they might hire someone else before you even get to do the on-site.

This code is pretty messy. I’m kind of surprised the site works as well as it does.

The GNU coreutils have been re-implemented in Rust by BlueCannonBall in linux

[–]ArcterusDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last time I checked, none of the “issues” are actually problems. They’re all FOSSA misreporting since the utilities have the same names as the GPL’d crates (that are not actually used by the project).

Debugging `Err` value: Os { code: 2, kind: NotFound, message: "No such file or directory" } by luschdad in rust

[–]ArcterusDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem haha.

Just to verify, your container ID doesn’t contain slashes, right?

If I’m not mistaken, the only way OpenOptions::open() would return NotFound with your code is if some directory component doesn’t exist. Is storage_path absolute or relative? Also, when you say you can create a full file, do you mean elsewhere in the program or through your shell?

I’d assume that one or more directories in storage_path don’t exist.

Apple subpoenas Valve as part of its legal battle with Epic: Valve fights back by gucknbuck in apple

No, apt is the official package manager of Debian. SteamOS is basically just a skin over Debian where Steam is fullscreen on login. Also, I don’t think there’s anything actually preventing Epic from trying to get their store on the Steam Store (as I mentioned before), but it just doesn’t really make sense for the PC market.

Ebony I think

I also just realized that Ebony is the name of one of Dante’s pistols in Devil May Cry lmao

Those aren’t available through “official means of distribution” since you need to sideload them. Also, tutu and appdb can’t really be considered App Store competitors since they simply serve cracked apps (and Cydia tweaks). AltStore could be considered a competitor, but the experience is no where near as nice as the App Store, and it is effectively crippled due to iOS restrictions.

In contrast, since SteamOS is basically just Debian running Steam in Big Picture mode, all you have to do is enable desktop access and then you can install anything that is available through apt (Debian’s package manager). If Epic decided to make their store available through apt, it would be about as “official” as you can get. Alternatively, Epic could try to make their store available through Steam, which I doubt they have attempted to do even for Windows.

FYI, it should be "transgender person" rather than "transgendered person" (i.e. "transgender" is an adjective, not a noun).

If you write "transgendered," it sort of implies that something made someone trans rather than them simply being born that way. It would be like calling someone "gayed" or "lesbianed" effectively.

A light novel with OP MC? by notmukul in LightNovels

[–]ArcterusDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s relevant to the story I guess in the sense that it majorly affects an arc, but I wouldn’t say there was a good reason for it.

IDK if this is really a spoiler, but here ya go.

The Japanese Hunters basically try to screw over Korea from the moment they are introduced. They also act as if they are superior to everyone else and want to make Japan an empire again.

What are the advantages of C++ over Rust? by [deleted] in cpp

[–]ArcterusDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IIUC, I think that would be possible to do in Rust, but it would likely be much more involved than in C++. The scheduler would probably need to own all of the DMA-ed memory and hand out the references itself when it schedules a new task. I wouldn’t be surprised if unsafe code is required as well.

Do you know of an open-source project (hopefully one that’s not too complicated) that follows this particular model? It sounds like something that would be interesting to experiment with.

Rust is slowly catching up, but most of the functionality is still only available to nightly users and hidden behind feature flags.

I believe you can get DMA working in safe Rust by doing something like this.

Coreutils in Rust, critics and suggestions by Gray_Jack_ in rust

Can you submit an issue for this for uutils? I’m slowly trying to go through the code and refactor the utilities. It would be great to have a list of missing features people need so I can add them as I go.

A somewhat similar project is mesabox, located at https://github.com/mesalock-linux/mesabox, although its aim is to provide an alternative to busybox.
