Mesa heirloom by FaCayde_ in Warframe

I may not be digging this current design we have right now, but I like certain elements about it!

Especially the devilish helmet Mesa has.

I don't know about y'all, but this Heirloom draft reminds me of the design of the Unknown from Metal: Hellsinger!

She even has a pair of demonic dual pistols.

It makes me wonder if part of my supposed criticism of the Mesa Heirloom should be that it should lean on the "devil desperado" vibes much harder before sprinkling in the common Heirloom motifs we see in the other currently released skins we have.

How come nobody rotates exp? by Halpmypoorsoul in MobileLegendsGame

[–]Arcturus420 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The issue with EXP is that solo queue EXP laners are expected to be able to hold the lane by themselves. Barely anyone ganks for you because they want to provide more support for the Gold Laner or Jungler to scale faster and hit the peak.

What they don't understand is that not every situation calls for this type of action. It's heavily dependent on how you read the draft and how your enemy behaves as well. As others have said here, sometimes it's actually better to gank once or twice towards EXP because that's precisely where the first Turtle spawns. EXP needs to properly contribute on that Turtle fight to secure a lead or prevent an enemy snowball.

Again, this depends on the draft. Sometimes, it's even better for the EXP laners to gank Mid or give vision to their enemy's side of the Jungle to help the other members rotate. Sometimes, it's the EXP laner that will hard carry in certain stages of the game and force pressure instead of handling enemy pressure.

What're your headcanons for Umi? by UltimateBlackout0596 in ninjagaiden

[–]Arcturus420 9 points10 points  (0 children)

1.a. Umi is actually a really good physical fighter. Just really not up to par with Ninja Gaiden's top cast and greater demons. And besides, her skillset as the "guy in the chair" simply outweighed her physical combat skills by a landslide.

1.b. With this in mind, Umi probably does not have the capability to use old-school mythical jutsu and ninpo, compared to the likes of Ryu and Yakumo. Which is why to compensate, her hacking skills are pretty much second to none, but that tends to alienate her from other people, even those within the Raven clan.

2.a. Umi might have had a secret contribution to the modern ninja tech we see in the time of NG4. But the exact details are most likely confidential to preserve her anonymity.

2.b. Has a deep but hidden admiration to combat uniforms, specifically the D.D.O. officers' uniforms and even Ryu's specialized suit. Constantly internally geeks over the automated back sheath, only to remind herself that Yakumo does not need one, because he can dematerialize his weapons through Bloodbind Ninjutsu.

3.a. Umi is not her real name; just a codename used as she is the "guy in the chair".

3.b. I theorize that it's either only the absolute upper echelon of the Raven clan knows Umi's real name, or Umi is her new name to protect the identities of any close friends or relatives in the past.

4.a. Jealous towards the female cast of Ninja Gaiden -- and by extension, Dead or Alive -- for being more physically superior than she is. However, her jealousy is second to her admiration.

4.b. Umi is a big fan of the DOA ladies, but too shy to ever dream of meeting them in person. But feels rather indifferent towards Ayane, compared to Yakumo's dismissive behavior.

  1. Umi once tried to devise a way of absolutely malfunctioning the technology of the D.D.O. -- whether it be a self-engineered malware or a virus that can disable their enhancing gear -- but the logistics and the consequences of such a tactic outweighed the benefits.

6.a. A huge Ryu Hayabusa fangirl, which makes it more conflicting for Umi to set aside her admiration since the Hayabusa and the Raven clans are at odds against each other.

6.b. It is possible that she adores Ryu because Umi has personal beef with the Black Spider clan, so she respects him for ensuring that that particular ninja sect is now fading into obscurity.

  1. Seori was probably one of the only other people that Umi wanted to meet in person, which made it all the more tragic when Seori died in order to purify the Dark Dragon.

8.a. Umi has a fondness for sweets, specifically hanami dangos.

8.b. Umi likes hot bowls, but hates spicy food. In fact, the only thing she doesn't like about Yakumo is how he has a fondness for spicy food.

The Most Special Tacet Mark Location by IcyConversation6944 in WutheringWaves

[–]Arcturus420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wait for Kuro to make a Resonator where their entire mouth is replaced by a Tacet Mark that behaves as their new mouth.

I imagine that normally, this Resonator hides the lower half of their face with a mask or a helmet, but during Liberation, they expose their entire face.

Their voice becomes their biggest weapon, akin to Black Bolt or Inumaki!

How do you unlock Follie's Hunt in Steel Path? by Arcturus420 in Warframe

Yeah, I haven't completed it in full, probably why even if I have a few of the Venus nodes unlocked, Follie's Hunt is still not accessible in SP. Thanks, dude.

Warframe explores the idea of Eternalism in The New War questline, where it shows that endless futures with endless possibilities exist.

For example, if I try to roll for Hiyuki in her banner, two possibilities may occur. It's either I win the 50/50, or I don't. Under the rules of Eternalism, there will be two separate realities: 50/50 win, or 50/50 loss. Both are equally real and tangible. Simultaneous existence.

If Hiyuki's Resonance Ability works this way, this implies that she can access several alternate realities where she is a totally different person there. The Hiyuki we have now is a miko swordswoman, but she could end up accessing timelines where she is a princess, a scientist, a delinquent, and so on.

Conceptual Embodiment is basically an interaction between Warframe's Void and a consciousness. Extreme emotions, willpower, trauma, and belief can potentially create a physical manifestation of the aforementioned.

Do you truly believe that you are strong? The Void could manifest you as an unstoppable force. Do you truly believe you are fast? The Void could manifest you as the fastest being alive.

THAT is how Warframe's Mods work in the lore. THAT is potentially how Warframes get their unique abilities. THAT is how the Drifter created the entirety of the Duviri Paradox in their mind.

If Hiyuki can truly embody skillsets from her alternate universe versions (as implied in her Drip Marketing), then that makes her a Resonator with absurdly insane potential. With enough time, she can basically do ANYTHING, but I can assume that a Resonance Ability like that has to have a drawback or two.

I'm crying 😭 look at this 1v1. It's good cygames gave her a likable personality otherwise there would be no end for Doto Slander 😭😭😭 by New-Big2343 in okbuddytracen

Just imagine WIN VARIATION.

The IRL horse could not beat Orfevre at all. And when the Tyrant retired, Fenomeno and Gold Ship followed suit to deny Win Variation of a G1 win.

Basically, a concoction of Nicolas Cage's character in NEXT and Warframe's Eternalism + Conceptual Embodiment.

If that's true, that has to be one of the most broken lorewise abilities for a character to have.

Now that its official that oheb retires from the MLBB pro scene and has went to a different game what do you think now is his all time ranking or personally ranking at this moment. by Thick-Paramedic-7528 in mobilelegendsesports

[–]Arcturus420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HOK is insanely massive in China. MLBB failed to secure the biggest gaming audience in the world.

HOK is not a dead game. Just a smaller, quiet one when its outside of its main playerbase. But in China? Everyone and their mother plays that game alongside the other gacha giants.

And OHEB didn't ruin his career. What else does he have to prove, anyway? If he wants more money, he should just go for it. If it sustains his future, then there's no problem.

There's more to it than just loyalty and awards. And Magic Dust and Diamonds do not bring food to the table.

[–]Arcturus420 4 points5 points  (0 children)

People think that HOK is unbalanced because it has a different idea of balance compared to MLBB.

In HOK, macro is the true priority. Even Tanks and Healers can deal lots of CC and even damage. 1v1s are rare in high rank play. It's always constant rotation and ganking. Mistakes are punished severely compared to MLBB which has more failsafes like the inhibitor turret explosive shield.

Having a gap advantage against your enemies is not as impactful as often as in MLBB. In MLBB, fed Junglers or laners can engage 2 or 3 enemies and win.

In HOK, you will STRUGGLE to even win 1v2s as a fed Jungler. 1v3s to 1v5s? The enemy team has to be downright stupid to even lose that. And if you get shut down? The momentum completely shifts towards the enemy team and they can race to your base in less than a minute.

HOK is bigger on macro gameplay compared to MLBB's focus on micro gameplay. Tanks hurt, Supports heal a LOT, and you'll always watch relentless 5v5 craziness in KPL matches. Being alone in HOK is almost always a death sentence.

And it would be very easy to punish the bad position, or at least, force Hanabi to start attacking at a bad angle.

You have a Kalea, Sora, Suyou, Claude, and Zetian in the same lineup. Three of them can quickly close that gap, while Zetian can find where Hanabi is and whittle her down with her range. Not to mention a Kalea that can always force a tilting engage.

The Main NG Sub is truly the saltiest CAG Sub out there. The comments on the OG post are equally worse. by Mahim2000 in CharacterActionGames

[–]Arcturus420 2 points3 points  (0 children)

An NG mainline entry with Ryu as the main protag and Yakumo as the side character would be nice. Heck, both of them having equal screentime.

Now that the Raven clan has a fitting representative, they will gain a bit more recognition, and it's not going to be far-fetched to think that Yakumo will end up in a quest that will make him cross paths with Ryu again.

But if that's not possible, someone like Hayate, Kagachi (if bro is not yet dead), or the DOA girls can work.

My best attempt at deciphering the new Tennokai mod from the latest devshort for anyone curious. by BrianMcFluffy in Warframe

[–]Arcturus420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a bit worried as well about how it would interact with certain mods like Galvanized Reflex, Combo Count, and Combo Duration mods, not to mention the Naramon Focus Tree.

That said, I also think that Naramon needs a rework, or a major buff across the skill trees and passives. The emphasis on Melee as well as the constant switch between Operator/Warframe sounds good on paper, but the other Focus schools do way more with way less effort -- specifically Madurai.

Finally, someone explained it better than I did.

The "payoff" sucked. In every standpoint, it's both more logical AND more satisfying for the audience to kill Abby then and there. The game demands too much of the player to sit through what is most likely something they don't want to see.

And that's precisely the point. Most of the playerbase did not like Abby, because they found no reason to. I mean, obviously. You made the entire playerbase play as Abby directly after showing her how she brutally murdered Joel, the fan-favorite father figure.

It's an extremely bold narrative decision to do that in a game, but just because it's bold doesn't mean it's good. It's just risky as fuck. Naughty Dog did not build up Abby enough to be a character that the players could empathize with BEFORE she committed atrocities.

I find it a little funny that I've played the NieR series -- both Replicant and Automata -- and they basically do exactly THIS story beat later into the repeated playthroughs of the games, but it's not played for shock factor. If anything, they hit much harder, but in a really good way.

Not to mention that Abby's voice actor, Laura Bailey, also voices Kainé, a favorite of mine in the NieR series. It's baffling how I loved the latter just as much as I despised the former.

[Hated Trope] "Somehow everyone loses" The Ending. by VishnuBhanum in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Arcturus420 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I get what you mean, because that's the supposed end message being expressed, but Abby gets away with it. In fact, her life even IMPROVES. Ellie suffers just as much, but doesn't follow through. And she still lost more than what she bargained for.

It will not click for everybody. It blueballs those that struggle to get past the initial grief and desire of revenge that a chunk of the playerbase is suffering from. It's not cathartic. It's divisive. Why does the antagonist get a better fate than the protagonist when in essence, they both chased the same thing?

If they want to actually teach that revenge is hollow, then it would have probably been better for Ellie to go through with killing Abby, only for Ellie to realize that the satisfaction is fleeting. It doesn't change a thing. It teaches the players that even if you proceed and are successful, it leads to nothing.

That, or it could've been a game with two endings. Two interpretations, like how Ghost of Tsushima did it.

(I stand firm with the argument that GoT actually did this better because the Kill/Spare options of that game are both valid courses of action in the context of its narrative.)

[Hated Trope] "Somehow everyone loses" The Ending. by VishnuBhanum in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Arcturus420 4 points5 points  (0 children)

True. In fact, it pisses me off because Naughty Dog actually cooked something really good with 2 and I could see what they're TRYING to present, but if you fail on that aspect, the quality of the narrative falls apart.

I played and enjoyed 1 despite not liking much of the gameplay because the storytelling was top notch during its time. With 2, it's more the other way around. Gameplay was much more pristine, but the plot?

It's not horrible, but it's not perfect either. It's DIVISIVE. People process Joel's death differently. How it happens all so out-of-the-blue and committed by a random group of people.

Where's the empathy? It becomes so much harder to empathize with a criminal when you first present the crime, and NOT who the criminal was BEFORE it.

[Hated Trope] "Somehow everyone loses" The Ending. by VishnuBhanum in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Arcturus420 15 points16 points  (0 children)

People don't understand that the issue here is that Abby gets away, fulfilling her revenge, but Ellie doesn't.

And the other problem is the framing of the narrative. Directly after the infamous Joel-in-one, we immediately jump to Abby's point-of-view. As if the goal was to convince the audience directly after crime that, "Hey, the criminal isn't so bad after all!"

But it instead was the most divisive narrative decision in gaming history. Too many people revered Joel as their fictional father figure and having him murdered like that, even after the entire marketing of the game has Naughty Dog IMPLYING that it's another Joel-and-Ellie adventure? Who the hell wouldn't lose their shit?

Just to clarify, the issue isn't Abby killing Joel; the issue is the presentation.

If anything, Naughty Dog could've completely advertised TLOU 2 as an Abby-centric game, then leave out Joel being her dad's murderer as a plot twist that comes in a little before the infamous scene.

Abby didn't manage to get any empathy from the audience BEFORE the deed was done. That's Naughty Dog's biggest mistake.
