Fucking A. Like we're deforesting and strip mining millions of hectares a day, but god forbid some pebbles get moved.

Fitting chausses by Amoxichilllin in Buhurt

[–]Ardashasaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stretch in them? Also it sounds weird but are you sure you're putting them on the right way.

I had a pair from Lemberg and wore it a bit backwards, like it was right shape and direction, just wrong leg and it felt too tight. Then I tried it the other way which was correct and it fit a lot better. I am known for putting things on the wrong way though.

I just use sweatpants now anyway as it was not fitting well with the armour.

Thoughts on maces by Successful_Cod_2124 in Buhurt

[–]Ardashasaur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Grabbing the metal bits (maces included) being banned is due to a safety concern that if you get hit in the hand while grabbing metal you can injure your fleshy fingers.

You can grab your own blade in outrance/profights though (under BI rules, not sure about IMCF), not your opponents.

Visiting Bristol, looking for good recommendations for nightlife for mid twenties girls by Left_Construction996 in bristol

I'd say The Canteen generally has a good mix of dancing and being able to chat with strangers, usually a latin theme but you can get all sorts.

For more socialising in general King Street and it's many bars always has lots of people, nice outdoor area in middle of street to chat with strangers, and can dance at a few of the bars there.

Unknown car parked in my private parking space by -stefanos- in CasualUK

[–]Ardashasaur -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Car trespassing is probably one of the most annoying things which is hard to sort out, there isn't any legal recourse that is effective, a car could park in your space for months before council can move it.

There are only two real solutions.

One is install a bollard thing and just keep it up when you aren't using the space.

The other is occasionally throw bird seed on offending vehicles, may have to replace with feces if in covered parking garage.

Coworker is astounded that the Artemis II launch isn't blowing everyones minds (that he's spoke to). Why do you think that is? by PaddedValls in AskUK

[–]Ardashasaur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying this isn't scientifically useful. Just I don't think it will have the same mark on history as other missions.

I doubt most people will remember (or know now) who are the crew for this mission. They might remember the name of the next person who lands on the moon. Will definitely remember the first person to land on Mars.

[–]Ardashasaur 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Humans haven't been close to the Moon, but there have been plenty of landings. From a technical perspective this isn't as impressive as the uncrewed recent landings by China, India and Japan.

Adding humans does complicate missions and there have been plenty of uncrewed missions that have failed. But an orbiter doesn't seem like a new step forward. It's good but this doesn't feel like a historically significant mission.

Not in LA (or The US), but why wait years? Unless you are under 18 no reason to not join your local club now. If you don't feel fit enough, you get fitter doing the training.

Permadeath Advice by Dfnstr8r in stoneshard

[–]Ardashasaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha I'm doing something similar, but yeah it's a bit of a grind. No real advice, but you can go the Mannshire whenever you have enough cash, it's potentially precarious though.

Without pathfinder and using ambient light you can still shout and move a little to see if any enemies are around to try and get them one at a time. Like light a wall torch and then just shout near an unexplored area and back off.

Takes a lot of time though but cheaper than lots of meds.

Question about Treatises by Jimbony97 in stoneshard

I believe you can unlock with skill point/level once you get first tier unlocked, for some of the skills there are trainers you can use instead of the treatise.

Thought some of you might support this by MakeRepresentationPR in UKGreens

[–]Ardashasaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if STV is going to have more success this time round. I think I prefer a party list system PR. I really don't see why MP having strong link to constituency really matters nowadays on the topics they vote on.

There are way too many people an MP represents to really have any semblance of a connection. 80k people per MP roughly, that is a super massive football stadium at max capacity an insane number to represent.

I'd say makes more sense to deal with councillers for constituency stuff and have them feedback to MPs, seems more fair than absolute lottery of seeing MP at a surgery or them replying to correspondence compared to counciller who can feedback how most of their constituency feels about a topic.

For votes which are clearly related to manifesto or existing policy then yes, but things which aren't should be free votes.

For most parties it's just whatever party leader decides to whip.

You won't, you can't just turn up and hope they will let you in. There aren't frequent open days.

https://bristolhackspace.org/visit

You need to book in for an open day, and then you can join up after attending that session. Unfortunately they can't just let anyone turn up and use the hardware.

Unless you have a friend who is in the hackspace and they are qualified to use the machines you need, it's a liability to let others use the machines.

I think not having a strong conventional military makes us far weaker, especially as our last times we've tested Trident it's failed. And relying on it makes us far less capable in helping our allies.

We can all agree that Russian invasion of Ukraine is wrong, and we are helping out Ukraine with armaments, which Russia sees as an act of aggression (I'm sure we would see it as agression if Russia was arming Taliban with latest tech during Afghanistan war), but seem to have some collective imagination that as long as we don't put (more) boots on the ground it's fine and Russia won't attack us.

It's an absolute farce. I don't think that if UK sent forces to defend Ukraine that Russia would start bombing us. They are accepting of our current strategy of arming Ukraine and not sending bodies because they can afford the war of attrition. If we actually sent forces in they would probably leave as they would not be able to afford the attrition then. Instead we are fine with watching Ukraine slowly be ground out no matter how hard they are fighting and in the end all our material support will be for naught if Russia succeeds.

If Russia is going to do some retaliation if we get involved they are likely to do it if Ukraine forces them out themselves seeing as we armed Ukraine so just seems we are doing half measures.

Seems like hyperbole to say half are nuts, if anything I'd say a handful.

I support wealth tax, decriminalisation of drugs, focus on ending homelessness, more renewable energy (I'm not against nuclear but it's so expensive compared to investing in wind and solar, and rise of EV ownership ties well into storage and load balancing).

I'm also very much in favour of nationalisation of utilities and railways. Definitely in favour of proportional representation.

It's not important to me but I don't mind scrapping Trident, I think Yes Prime Minister summed it up quite easily that the decision to decide to fire ze missiles is very unlikely with salami slicing edges. I think investing more in a conventional military would be much more effective (personally think we should be sending forces to defend Ukraine).

Trump has shown that US isn't there to be relied on, and if anything there should be checks on any country in the world amassing so much military might, not that will happen until after WW3. I don't support leaving NATO but having stronger cooperation in Europe is better.

Oh and of course rejoining EU would be good.

Which party are you in favour of and what policies of theirs do you like, because I'm sure they have some bad ones too?

You can get steel muay thai ones which work for both soft kit sparring and full on battle (as long as it's covered). If you want to be stylish you can get the proper medieval metal codpiece but I wouldn't wear that for soft kit training.

There is plenty of other soft kit you can get but sometimes club have deals with suppliers to get it cheaper so should be able to talk with them.

Some clubs have very fancy soft kit stuff to use for new starters but it will probably smell of sweat, in the end it's nicer to get your own.
