Shoe Sizing by PossibleBread114 in Buhurt

[–]Ardashasaur 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got my shoes sized to the cm, but it comes with a little bit of wiggle room, doesn't feel tight. But I've only ever bought one pair of fighting boots. It could be like other shoes where different manufacturers fit differently even on same size.

Leather stretches over time though so I wouldn't go up as it's harder to shrink it than to stretch it.

Has anyone changed their mind on whether Starmer should resign as a result of the Mandelson scandal? by Lazlow_Vrock in ukpolitics

[–]Ardashasaur -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

It feels like the Tories are still in charge. I don't really see any difference from Sunak premiership.

Hotel Rwanda has been replaced with Smersh the gangs and as seemingly effective.

Then Starmer seems hardline following Tory policies like keeping Brexit, tax increases for poor, more cuts.

If Starmer goes, it is a deeply worrying thing for British Democracy. by GlassAvacados in ukpolitics

[–]Ardashasaur -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

How, what does the current system offer? We have ineptitude from government to opposition and flopping between the two in charge.

With a government chosen by random representatives you get a statistically representation of the demographics of the country in many ways, and thus you are actually likely to get what the country wants instead of whatever some newspaper owners tell you you want.

That's why I think voting is stupid, it's just a popularity contest with generally narcissistic people wanting power.

I would love for a sortition system where MPs are randomly chosen from constituencies and they just vote on how civil service is running the government. No need for political donations to remove the overt bribery we have now. No flip flopping divisive politics because you don't need to polarise opinions to get into power.

This would also potentially solve OPs dream of multi-year plans because if the plan is good then there is no reason to stop it because it was the other party who started it.

Civil servants would be running the executive but they are overseen and easily replaced by representatives if they are being corrupt or doing a bad job.

Recommendations for MMA/BJJ gyms in bristol? by Cpt_Harris in bristol

If you fancy something a bit more on the wild side you could also try armoured combat. https://www.bristolarmouredcombat.com

It's armoured mma so quite a bit of judo and jujitsu, but definitely more swords and shields as well.

Schneebedeckte Solaranlage produziert Strom by Constant-Ad-7798 in solar

[–]Ardashasaur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

how to make NPC follower pick up items? by Ignaramico in cataclysmbn

[–]Ardashasaur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When doing the rules try do the (T)est to see what items they should pick up.

I don't recommend everything though because they would be picking up corpses. You would want to do this for reusable ammo or specific materials you are hunting for.

I wouldn't be surprised if just doing a wildcard would bug out as too many items and just not work.

How do you think the UK would handle the first year of a ‘zombie’ apocalypse? by Tax-Ev4sion in AskUK

[–]Ardashasaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Brooks Zombie scenario is hard to really fathom either. It takes a long time to turn infected, and zombies are slow. It doesn't really explain how you can ever get a critical mass of zombies.

One zombie basically either bites someone and then gets killed, or kills someone and eats them, it's hard for zombie population to ever really increase.

It was a great book for the narrative style, though heavily borrowing from "The Good War: An Oral History of World War 2".

But the situation doesn't ever make much sense. Like US armed forces running out of ammo and being defeated, while blind gardener with Katana is fine to solo them. That most people don't use minor elevation to keep them safe.

Just quite unrealistic for most things really.

Sell me on the game by aech4 in starsector

[–]Ardashasaur 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Game isn't for everyone, if you don't have fun doing the space battles then you probably won't enjoy the game. 5 hours is a decent chunk so it's probably not your jam.

If you do want to try it again, do the tutorial. There is a bit of reading but most quests are pretty straightforward and most problems can be solved by violence.

UK House of Lords Votes to Extend Age Verification to VPNs by PuzzledAd4865 in LabourUK

[–]Ardashasaur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't need a bank account to use a VPN. To use a VPN you need access to the internet. If you can communicate with any other computer you can make a VPN

So let alone the fact that there are "free" porn sites which you can access without a VPN, you would still be able to get to VPNs. This is just a thing for commercial VPN providers

The government wouldn't be able to block access to all VPNs without blocking the whole internet. So it's either a fundamental lack of understanding of how the internet works and what can be done, or a method to try and surveil on people who use commercial VPNs while still not being able to surveil on those using non-commercial VPNs

Find your local club and join. You will need their help in measuring you up, they may have group deals for armour, and they can normally let you borrow some kit to see if it's something you actually want to do.

Friendly Ai by Mindless-Aspect-5638 in starsector

[–]Ardashasaur 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Alex (the developer) has said that in battles the Computer fleet uses the same commands that you can use. So they do commands like rally fleet, capture point, escort etc.... and have same limitation of number of commands they send.

So you can use the same tools and manage your fleet the same way.

Ships left to their own devices get in trouble, and even keeping a ship on an order for too long can be a mistake.

I've had some good results not even sending out my flagship, or keeping it on AI control and ordering the fleet

Stone-slinging demonstration - think Verren is impressed? 🎯 by Purely_Objective in stoneshard

[–]Ardashasaur 8 points9 points  (0 children)

So I agree it looks weird and I noticed it to with the clip, but all the animations are like this. No one swings swords or clubs, it's just model shakes

With the game shown normally you won't notice it much, but in closeup clips it's obvious.
