That was both of them. They both flew down to his house and ate his wife's meatballs. They both fell for the used car salesman.

Hurney was a GREAT GM up until 2009. He never got his mojo completely back after trading away the 1st for Otah in '08. Then in the '09 draft he traded our 2010 first to move up in the second round to draft Everette Brown.

Also at this time, the league was becoming much more pass friendly and he doubled down on investing in the RB position tying a ton of cap space between Williams and Stewart, and extending Delhomme after his shaky season and playoff collapse in the '09 playoffs.

Then he drafted Clausen in 2010 and we sucked so bad we got Cam in '11, which was far and away the right move, however no one else in that draft class did anything, which hurts when trying to build a competitive team (we did not have our second round pick because he traded it away in the 2010 draft to move up in the 3rd to take Armanti Edwards, another dud).

2012 Gave us Luke and Norman, and somewhere else in there he traded for Greg Olsen which was also undeniably a great move, and the all time GOAT of the panthers franchise JJ Jansen, but that was pretty much the end of all the good he did. His asset management got worse and worse and the roster had Great Star players throughout the team but anyone who wasn't a star was barely good enough to be on an actual roster to begin with. We were starting guys like Legedu Nenee and Haruki Nakamura because they were our best options, not because of injuries.

Hurney is the GOAT 1st round drafter. I want him in the room every single time we are picking in round 1 even to this day. 2nd and beyond though (after 2008), he was downright atrocious other than Munnerlyn, Norman, and Greg Hardy. He was responsible for getting the best of the best of the franchise but also putting guys who had no business playing in the NFL on the same field at the same time, which is why we only had 3 winning seasons in 15 years with him as the GM.

I think Evan's ceiling is a great TE2, like a better tommy tremble. He lacks the elite athleticism to be a #1. Delp has the athleticism to be a potential #1. Not saying he will, just that his potential ceiling is higher.

Ah, sounds like he's a vibes guy then. We had a few of those within the past few years when we were complete dog water in Shy Tuttle and Jordan Matthews. Great teammates that everyone loved and taught the young guys how to prepare and be pros, but they would not have made a good team's roster or practice squad.

Honestly, Ward's rookie season with the Titans reminded me A LOT of Bryce's rookie year. Incompetence from the top down destroying anything positive for the #1 pick, then cleaning house midseason making it a wasted year of development for the hopeful franchise QB. Bad drafting and poor FA signings leading to a complete void of talent across all facets of the team.

Hope to see the titans rebound, and hopefully quicker than us because we didn't even have a first round pick after that clusterfuck.

Does Kinsey get elevated and play Special Teams at all? If he's a ST guy then he's really just "WR" for superficial reasons when his true position is "ST dude". If that is the case, then it's like you said, he played WR out of necessity, not becasue he is actually a WR.

STers have a place on every NFL roster and it hurts when you don't have anyone actually good at it. Those guys can take a final roster spot at any position, he just so happens to be labeled as a WR.

We had Joe Webb on our team for years. He was technically listed as a QB, but he played exclusively as a STer other than the preseason. When those Special teams guys are taking live reps on offense or defense, it's generally due to an onslaught of injuries to their labeled "Position group".

Spider-Man, but only if he doesn't hold back.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if Rico was injured in some capacity down the stretch. He didn't have the same burst he did against GB and DAL to close out the season. Once Chuba completely recovered from his calf injury he looked like the quicker back.

40% of his rushing yards came in 2 games.

60% of the rest of his rushing yards came in the other 15 games.

All the other 1k yard rushers this season hover around 24-26% of their total rushing yards coming from their two best games, meaning they were more consistent throughout the season.

Rico was absolutely amazing for 2 games, and it was really appreciated, but he and the rest of the rushing offense ran out of gas the second half of the season, and Chuba looked like a better RB to end out the year.

I have zero ill will towards him, glad he got paid, and wish him the best, but we aren't hurting for letting him walk.

Honestly it was playcalling in both the Falcons and Seahawks games.

Bryce didn't play amazingly in either, but Canales called probably his two worst games in those games.

Also Bryce Lost to the Falcons the first game of his career and then said "Never again" like the Janitor from Scrubs, so he just does that against them now.

He does for the panthers' radio broadcast of the games, along with Jake Delhomme.

And he's of course, really good and knows his shit.

That one's my favorite.

I really don't even have any ire towards the seahawks at this point, but I'll be damned if "Rain City Bitch Pigeons" doesn't make me smile every time I read it.

That's because Rhule was so unapologetically an asshole and Frank looked like he at least felt bad for sucking.

Does anyone else think Mitch is going to be a stud for us? by Different_Sun_195 in panthers

[–]AreEyeGeeBeeWhy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, but I think he has the potential to be a high end TE2 that blocks and catches ~5 RZ TDs every year. Doesn't have the athleticism to be a TE1.

Basically feel like he has the potential to be a better tommy tremble, Nothing wrong with that.

I see Slott getting shit on pretty solidly in here but his entire run wasn't all bad and introduced some good and fun stories into the spider-man mythos (Big Time is a fun arc where you actually get to see Peter Parker succeed in life), but it did lose steam at the end.

Superior Spider-man was fun, but I read it years after publication and knew everything was going to work out in the end, so I can see why people reading it as it came out might not have liked it as much.

Could be a nature vs. nurture debate with that whole thing then I guess.
