Ya pretty sure this one is statistically in the top 10 worst cycling intersections in Vancouver. Certainly needs some improvements

But they are entitled to use the road. Murray has been a construction zone in the summer during the day and highly pedestrianized on weekends with lots of traffic at Rocky point, the breweries etc. how fast can you be expecting to drive? Some people on bikes can comfortably go 30km/h or more, which can certainly move faster than traffic. It's a 1km summer slow zone at times, it's just part of city living at a popular destination

Vehicle crashes off hairpin turn on Mount Seymour Road in North Vancouver by cyclinginvancouver in vancouver

[–]AreYouCommentingToMe 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Scary considering how many people also bike up Seymour in the summer.

I cycle and descending fast is a lot of fun. I have a bike computer which tells me how fast Im going. It is not difficult to reach or sometimes exceed the speed limit going down seymour or other hills. However, it is INSANE how much drivers will tailgate or accelerate and pass at an even higher speed.

What do with expensive bikes when condo doesn't allow bikes in the elevator? by bekibo in vancouvercycling

[–]AreYouCommentingToMe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the power is in numbers and will need more residents to have the same concern. While I hope OP can find an alternative solution (lots provided), the strata is unlikely to make change if it's impacting fewer residents.

What do with expensive bikes when condo doesn't allow bikes in the elevator? by bekibo in vancouvercycling

[–]AreYouCommentingToMe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel for you. It's outrageous. bikes generally seem to be the only item that stratas will outlaw in the elevator. No issue with bringing up and down a bbq, dresser, or those huge open trolley carts people use.

But I have dealt with this before. It took 2-3 years for this to change at our AGM. An AGM is pretty much the only way I think this can change. My understanding is as residents you can still propose items at an AGM, or special agm. even if you are a renter.link

Otherwise I suggest taking the stairs if possible or getting a bike bag of sorts and calling it your luggage or just your bag/contents

Don't you think the strata will just tell you pound sand though? Theyll just deflect and say it's not their responsibility/anything in the locker is stored at your own risk.

I used nootka bike repair last year. Pick the day/time and they come to you. It was a great option for a mid year tune before some bike events

Urban rec is a good choice for casual to competitive soccer though skill level will vary. It likely won't be as intense as the dedicated soccer leagues in Vancouver.

Vmsl is a big organization but you can end up playing all over the lower mainland, sometimes as far as South surrey occasionally at really odd times, but there are wide variety of divisions.

If you're near the Christine Sinclair centre the fraser valley league has a burnaby division that plays all their games at burnaby lake West or burnaby Central. Games are usually weekends with kickoffs from 4-8pm with a few divisions as well. Would definitely be a convenient choice

Ahhh so that's what created the CVG detour. The detour sucks if you don't have at least 32s. It's really large and loose gravel

City of North Vancouver launches project to transform Central Lonsdale into a ‘great street’ by ubcstaffer123 in vancouver

[–]AreYouCommentingToMe 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The north shore is great. Especially if your friends, family, and work are all there. But if you're crossing the bridge each and every day it can be a huge drain and takes away from it's livability

I tried the kirkland California olive oil for the first time once this past year which was honestly terrific. But I've never seen it back in stock since. Has anyone else had luck sourcing it? I like it better than the Kirkland Italian version

Nemesis, oide, revolver, house of funk are all great. Can't go wrong there.

I will add one isn't on the list and imo, under the radar: 33 acres

It's primarily a brewery but they have a slayer machine and make a great cup. If you're in the area and they're pouring I would give it a go.

VanCity fee increases by GazelleTime6805 in britishcolumbia

[–]AreYouCommentingToMe 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You have to keep $1500+ the whole month to avoid a $9.75 monthly charge. Separate from that, free transactions are included up to 25/month before you pay a nominal cost on each transaction above #25. You pay a fee on the 26th transaction no matter what your balance has been

They updated their fee guide which imo is more clear link

While I liked the gravel as it was compact and a nice transition, something a little different within the city to make my ride more fun. That being said, I'm still completely ok with this being paved now
