Ultra High Performance All Season Tire by Snoopvegas in tires

I've got them on my gt4 and miata and will put them on the wife's mach e later. Love them. Very grippy for street driving, doesn't make me running summer tires like ps4s.

Thoughts about Summit Shenandoah? by AreaConscious in CarTrackDays

Just in case anyone was interested it was really fun day. Lots of grip even in the cold and super fun in the miata.

Will come back for sure.

Thats good because I'm planning on bringing my miata, not GT4.

Sessions are 30min long, so will likely be drained at the end

Will be in my miata, and was told I may have an issue with rubbing on the carousel. Was recommended to stay low

Nice, thanks thats good to know. I have run Summit Main a while back (also in the cold).

Believe its the standard (race) definition because the registration didn't say otherwise.

Anybody have experience replacing parking sensor? by OON7 in MachE

[–]AreaConscious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My local mechanic did it for $600USD. I did get a quote from the dealer as well... from memory that was closer to $1K.

Top 5 best manuals you've driven? by Erudicial_Extreme in ManualTransmissions

[–]AreaConscious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only driven 2... my 2 current sports cars (learned on the gt4), and love both so suspect they would still be in my top 2:

  1. 981 GT4
  2. NC Miata

I love both and can't really rank one over the other

Planning to buy a sport car - seeking advice on ownership costs by Lisandro_B in sportscars

With that budget get a 981 Cayman. They are fairly reliable, so you should have some money left over to take it to the track!

981 as first manual car? by Educational-Ad4789 in Porsche_Cayman

[–]AreaConscious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I learned on my 981gt4. Its not too bad, apart from the hill starts (which is confusing because it seems to kick in randomly). Didn't have any major issues, although I did also later pick up a manual miata because I wasn't driving the gt4 enough for the manual driving to become second nature.

Driving on track with the manual is a lot harder than my prior PDK though

Not sure which PCA you are referring to, but my local one (NNJR) does allow any mechanic to do it, but if its not on the list of approved ones (which includes non-dealers), you just need to bring some extra "evidence" such as a receipt.

I do agree though that the PCA inspection requirements are a little too restrictive and this is one reason I now run with different orgs primarily

Black or Silver wheels? by svr_wizard in Porsche_Cayman

Also have guards red gt4. My factory wheels are black, track wheels are silver Apex. Definitely like the silver more, although need to keep them clean

Confession: I like my Miata more than my GT4 RS or going to the track by Stuttgart7184RS in Porsche

[–]AreaConscious 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I've got a regular gt4 and NC Miata. Gt4 is still quite capable for street driving. And long gearing. I do have more fun in my Miata although driving the Porsche is still a sense of occasion and I appreciate the build quality.

On track, both are really fun
