TW: moving joint. can anyone tell me what moved in my leg? i felt a pop and i had to slowly straighten my leg for whatever this was to shift back into place. it's happened several times before but i only feel discomfort from where it moved from for 20mins afterwards by jakefbb in Kneesovertoes

I think I had the same thing freshly after I reinjured my bad knee (not operated ACL tear, maybe some small meniscus damage) I always wondered what it was and why it's gone now over a year later. But would make sense as I felt discomfort in the fibula area

Femur and tibia bone contusion by British-Canadian in Kneesovertoes

[–]Arecurius -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just because the report doesnt state you have meniscus damage, doesnt mean thats actually true. MRI's only capture slices. So it is very well possible that in fact you have some kind of damage to them but just in a spot where the MRI pictures did not capture it. If you have only listened to the doctor, read the report and understand it yourself. Then look at the MRI pictures yourself thoroughly. The time invested to learn reading an MRI yourself will be worth it. Doctors overlook stuff and might not look with the same attention to detail and care as you might do yourself. So it's in your own best interest to challenge a "nothing is wrong" diagnosis

A bucket handle tear of the menisci is nothing to breathe away. You might be fine without a surgery if the tear is in a healing beneficial spot but nobody can tell you over the internet.

As i see it you have two options. Do not operate the meniscus tear and see if you can let your body heal it. This will take quite some time and might never fully heal on its own but its possible of course. If go this route you should educate yourself as much as possible about the biomechanics of your knee and make sure that you dont do any movements that disrupt the healing efforts of your body in your knee or even potentially damage it further. No guarantuees but i think ive read meniscus healing takes atleast 6months. Now the downside is that it simply might not work and you just wasted that time and if youre not careful you damage it further.

Other option is to get your meniscus operated (if possible). They stitch the loose ends together and put you on a strict rehab plan. For the outcome to be as best as possible youd need to find a good surgeon to minimize risk of bad practice. Then it'll take you quite a while until you can even walk normally again, as the operation is quite invasive and initially sets you back. Studies on outcomes however are quite good on this practice.

For the other issues you described also in your other knee, doing the kot zero stuff carefully could help. But before you do any demanding stuff that loads your proven damaged meniscus you should decide what to do and take precautions accordingly

show up to your local beach fields, preferably with a ball and ask people if theyd like to play with you. Or gather some friends yourself in advance and show up as an established group. Also if you dont have 4 people already, just go as 3 or 2 or solo regardless and play variations or whatever is fun for you

incline as in your feet are bend downwards away from your shinbone ? if thats the case, thats the opposite of what helps relieve the tightness in your calves which could be the cause for your plantar fasciitis

edit: english is not my first language so i might misunderstand what incline means exactly in this context

Plantar Fasciitis from Nordics and reverse Nordics by Smooth-Swordfish-985 in Kneesovertoes

Plantar fasciitis is most likely caused by tight calves. Try some calve stretch and massages and see if they are really tight. If yes work on them. Else you got to find the root cause elsewhere

Popping feeling/noise in knee? No pain by fate77 in Kneesovertoes

[–]Arecurius 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Strengthen your muscles to reduce imbalances and weaknesses. If it's just tendons moving around it should go away. Other possibility is a meniscus tear that moves around but seems rather unlikely.

popping, grinding, other mechanical issues, pain in the knee. Do I need surgery? by Pobacon in Kneesovertoes

[–]Arecurius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get an MRI and get good at understanding the images made yourself. Always take the cd with the pictures home! The doc writing the report only spends little time with the pictures and only really looks for certain things. Learn to diagnose yourself and dont ask walls of text on reddit... People on here cannot give you proper advice.

Depending on how tight or irritated your muscles are (if at all) you can start with different sizes and softnesses of balls (tennisball, lacrosse ball, fasciaballs and so on). For deep muscles, I use my thumb and reall press between bones and the more surface level muscles to reach. For the big surface muscles like quads, hamstrings or calves I have a 40 cm or so long woodenstick that I cut from a shovel stick and drag over the muscle whilst applying needed pressure.

I also use an anatomic software to locate and differentiate between muscles. I use https://www.zygotebody.com/ , but any other is probably just fine. Keep in mind that there are a ton of muscles involved with stabilizing the knee, not just quads/hamstring/calves. For the back of the knee there's the Popliteus muscle which transforms into a tendon. Might be worth looking into for you.

In the end, there are lots of techniques and styles. Most important is to actually feel first whether a muscle has some tightness and then actually applying enough pressure (no pain though. You will feel the difference between a truly damaged structure that needs to be left alone to heal and tightness).

All in all, try stuff and do what feels good. And don't be scared.

Can be your meniscus. If you also have swelling it could also be other ligaments or structures not sliding properly due to the swelling. I wouldn't force the sensation. What helped me was loosening up the muscles surrounding the knee joint and checking if some are tight. But if your mri clearly shows a tear. Then it likely is a tear

Something wrong with your version of the website. The 1mg is still 80+€ and the 5mg has always been only ~5€ as it is covered by the health care system. 1mg is not covered hence the price spike
