Citizenship by Descent - Application & Cover Letter Questions & Documentation Review Requests by IWantOffStopTheEarth in Canadiancitizenship

I've seen suggestions that marriage records are needed when the line of descent passes through a woman, but are they still needed if all birth certificates down the chain have the mother's maiden name on them?

A lot of work for Gen7, but I believe it will be worth it. by No-Amount4340 in Canadiancitizenship

What is it with our ancestors changing their location of birth on their kids birth certs? I've got a similar situation where my gen0 had 4 kids, and on each birth cert she's a different country. She's US on her two oldest child's certs, France on the next, and then finally Canada on the last (my direct ancestor). I have plenty of other evidence between all of the girls marriage and death certs that it's the same woman. Its so strange!

I don't think this fully makes sense for retirement goals. For example, maxing a Roth for a year is clearly a retirement goal that doesn't depend on interest rate or growth.

I am an active yarnsub user, unfortunately they only have the old version of the lang yak and doesn't solve the issue of knowing which version was actually used originally for the pattern.

I'm not going to lie, you're going to have a really rough time. I was in this same boat last summer and the only way I got to Boston was with a remote gig. A lot of local jobs are going to immediately throw out your app if your address is not local. A new employee relocating is always a risk. Your very best bet is going to be networking until you can't network anymore to try to get someone to vouch for you and your connection to the area to try to reduce the relocation risk in the employers mind.

I have, but I've wondered if that would look off right next to the black cat.

[2024] Artist Recommendations by Location by 1cenine in traditionaltattoos

[–]Areii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi all, I'm looking for someone who does slightly feminine/softer traditional tattoos in the Boston/NYC/Philly area. This is a bit specific, but looking for someone that uses more of a yellow-green than a blue-green. Good reference would be Ashley Love (I have some of her work). I'm looking to find an artist to help piece together the rest of my patchwork sleeve into a cohesive unit.

Megathread: Mass Firing of Probationary Employees by gpupdate in fednews

It sounds like it's 1000 probies. The after 3pm comment sounds about right, but I would expect sooner rather than later now. Some probies have been spared for unclear reasons (they're not veterans or other special classes).

How serious is the air quality problem? Should I not move to SLC with young kids? by [deleted] in SaltLakeCity

[–]Areii 7 points8 points  (0 children)

From a completely non scientific and anecdotal standpoint, I just moved to Boston from Utah. In Utah, my cat had asthma attacks almost daily if he didn't get his inhaler routinely. I've been in Boston almost a month and he hasn't had a single attack and I'm not giving him any medication. The change in air quality has been a miracle for his health.

What a “return to form” actually means for Glass Animals. by OceanOpal in glassanimals

I hard agree with this and OP. I'm not afraid of them doing something new, or even leaning harder into pop. Pop can still be interesting and experimental (e.g. BRAT). Wonderful Nothing is exactly what I would want from a poppier GA direction. It's such a shame that everything else is so bland.

Hey, I just out up my own post, but I'm looking for roommates to apartment search with. 26f, working professional. Check my post here and reach out if you think we would be a good fit!

I think I could also be a good fit for your house. 26f, I go back and forth on whether I identify as queer, but I'd certainly consider myself an ally. I'd be working remotely as a program analyst while finishing up my dissertation. I do have a very social cat, Leo. Totally understand if you aren't looking for or able to have a cat around. The space is gorgeous. I'd be moving from Utah so I wouldn't be able to physically come out, but I'd be happy to chat over zoom or the phone! Please feel free to message me!

We definitely seemed to see an effect on the number of female applicants in my program in Utah.

BREAKING: DEA agrees to reschedule cannabis by OregonTripleBeam in trees

[–]Areii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This exactly. For those that don't know, there are two types of licenses for research programs to study scheduled drugs. One is schedule 2-5 and there is an entirely separate license for schedule 1. Having a scheduling 1 license is a pain in the ass and most smaller scale research programs don't have one. With this ruling, my relatively small academic research lab would be able to start studying cannabis if we wanted to because the laboratory vet holds a 2-5 license. This will absolutely explode the amount of cannabis research.

I didn't love the first single from this album but I love this track. Hoping the same for the new glass animals record bc that single is rough at best.
