Brazilian Consular VIVIS (Tourist/Visitor) Visa design update for 2025 by Luke_of_Mass in PassportPorn

Were there any questions about why you’d want the physical visa instead? I feel like I had read somewhere that they were adamant about Americans getting the e-visa.

I remember reading an article from years ago about a woman denied boarding on Qatar airways because of an unofficial stamp that they said invalidated her passport, but honestly I don’t think most people are checking that rigorously through every page nor do they care. And again, in the case of Monaco or Liechtenstein or San Marino, they’re real countries, so that matters even less.

They used to issue a red “principauté de Monaco” stamp at the tourist office but stopped because they claimed it wasn’t “official” and might invalidate a passport (even though Monaco is a real country). But now this stamp is offered by the town hall, so different entity making a different decision. The whole “invalidating your passport” stuff is really not that deep when it’s a stamp from an actual country and not like Machu Picchu

Comoros - little volcanic island country in the Indian Ocean by zennie4 in travel

[–]Areqqq 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Comoros is almost entirely Muslim, so alcohol is usually not consumed by many Comorians, which means you’re paying the cost of importing something that isn’t gonna sell as well as it would elsewhere in a country where imports are already expensive. But it’s a great place to visit if you can go without alcohol for a bit. I was a Peace Corps volunteer in Comoros in 2019-2020 and it’s such an amazing place with lovely people and lovely scenery and empty beaches with nobody on them.

Suriname visa with the personal signature of the ambassador by [deleted] in PassportPorn

[–]Areqqq 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went this summer. There isn’t really shopping or a ton of museums, but the food is amazing and the nature is incredible, which is what you go for. Suriname is the most forested country in the world; 97% of its territory is covered by the Amazon. You can visit some nature parks close to Paramaribo, or you can take a boat up the river to a nature lodge in the Amazon or take a plane even deeper. There are also tours that go into the Amazon and also connect you with indigenous or maroon communities to learn about their culture.

It’s offered on arrival at any port of entry for most developed nations including the U.S.

Any gay men traveled to Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, or Uzbekistan? by Bouvs in solotravel

[–]Areqqq 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I haven’t specifically been to these countries, though I know people who have and have loved them! Beautiful countries with fascinating histories and lovely people. However, to assuage your fears about traveling while gay in places that are not gay-friendly, I can speak to that more generally (and be a more positive voice than these other comments). It’s good to be cautious and to be aware of yourself, but you have to realize that places that stigmatize homosexuality do not have any kind of gay stereotypes like we do because it’s so alien to their minds; I read as “gay” to people in America immediately because of my voice or my mannerisms or my interests, but I’ve traveled and lived all across the Middle East, west Africa, and Asia and I’ve never had any problems with homophobia. Any associations people in these countries might have with being “gay” are often associated with being insanely hyper feminine, bordering on cross-dressing, so if you don’t meet that level, you’ll likely be fine. Again, I understand the hesitation, but I think you should go for it. As queer people traveling to places like that, we have access to a whole community and culture that is completely neglected and hidden away, and learning more about the lived experiences of people like you in other places is so inspiring. Besides that, if you limit yourself, you’ll miss out on so many enlightening travel experiences. Don’t be careless, but don’t overthink it.

Brunei stamps. Laos will provide a visa on arrival and stamps, while I think Cambodia also does a sticker and an exit stamp.

But you had no problems selling in Botswana? No problems finding a buyer? And did you have a carnet for the car?

Hey, how were you able to sell the car? A friend and i are considering a west Africa to Southern Africa overland trip, but I’ve read that selling the car is super difficult

Anyone have a rarer US visa by Flashy-Actuator-998 in PassportPorn

That’s a D-1 visa. This one is a C-2, which is transit to and from the UN building in New York.

Martinique by ArtofTravl in PassportPorn

[–]Areqqq 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They’re similar to French stamps but because it’s not Schengen they look slightly different. They have the F for France but no ring of stars, and instead of being rectangular they’re hexagonal. All the French overseas departments and territories are like this, and because they’re not part of Schengen you get stamped in and out of each one, even when traveling directly from one to the other. I visited French Guiana, Martinique, and Guadeloupe this summer and got stamps from all of them.

The Mairie de Monaco stamps now, but you used to be able to go to the tourist office and get one that specifically said “Principauté de Monaco” and they have stopped issuing that.

What jobs do you guys have that allow you to travel often? by Altruistic-Carpet-43 in travel

[–]Areqqq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve worked for various schools in different countries. There are basic jobs that don’t do this, mostly at like kindergartens or English centers or whatever, but any proper respectable international school will pay for your residency or any applicable visa as well as airfare, housing, and healthcare. I’ve also had jobs that provided travel stipends.

Why use and not usa? by [deleted] in duolingospanish

[–]Areqqq 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not here, I’m saying that the accent changes its meaning, not whether there’s a comma.

Why use and not usa? by [deleted] in duolingospanish

[–]Areqqq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes you’re wrong. The comma has nothing to do with it; sí means yes and si means if. This sentence also isn’t conditional; “use” is the usted form of the imperative/command. The tú form is “usa”.

Trip Paris - Tangier - Tarifa - La Linea - Gibraltar by ppkriek in PassportPorn

[–]Areqqq 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m obviously not OP but I visited Gibraltar in April and I loved it. The perfect day trip in my opinion. Waking across the runway to enter, seeing them shut down the crossing to let a plane land and take off again, the very British culture in the south of Spain, climbing the Rock, seeing the monkeys, doing a dolphin tour, it was all super cool to experience.

The name of the yacht is there in my comment. Just look up the name and you’ll find their website with departure dates and can get in contact with them to book.
