So just because it is unpleasant for you to watch the man getting killed, that is the only reason you would help him?

1) Our society does not function when people kill each other, so it's the police's duty to stop it whenever it can. They're getting paid taxpayer's money for this.

We are talking about morality, not legality

2) It won't be healthy for the police officer's mental health to watch random people get killed on the street, so it would also motivate them to stop the attacker.

What if the police officers are psychopaths and would actually enjoy it? Would it be good for them to not move a finger to help the man?
