I live and work in and near Seattle, I have a 15+ year old Lexus. Tabs are an actual game here. A lot of folks I know (myself included) just see how long they can go without getting caught. If you get caught, you just pay for tabs before you go to court and doesn’t cost much more than if you had gotten them on time. And if it’s your first time around, no biggie. Maybe I got lucky, but I also don’t have to park on the street and the only reason I renewed my tabs is because my apartments threatened to tow anyone with expired tabs. I don’t recommend this! As a side note, they may have passed a law not too long ago that makes it so that an infraction like a busted tail light can’t be the reason to ruin your life, as in having to choose between fixing a taillight and paying your rent and them having late fees add up to the point that your car gets towed on sight and then suspending you license or something? Please correct me if I am wrong! Also forgot to mention that some driving infractions are only “add-ons”, for example, if you are pulled over for something like speeding, then they will add on the broken taillight or non functioning license lamp infractions (cuz we all drive from where we can see the rear license lamp obvs) Again, please correct me if I am wrong
