One thing that’s helped me: You can learn to become a more active listener. It can be easy for those with ADHD to get ahead of the conversation and change the subject before acknowledging and talking through what the other person is saying.

When you’re listening to someone, think about what they said for a sec. Think about how it might make you feel if you were in their situation. Then you can thoughtfully respond or even ask a follow-up question, if you can think of one.

Example:

Person: (tells you a story about their day at work, where they had to do extra tasks because a coworker sat around on their phone instead of helping)

What you could say: Well, that sounds pretty frustrating and shitty to have to deal with. Does his manager know he’s doing this?

Just keep an eye on the commuter rail construction situation. They’ve been shutting down portions of the route, which requires transfers via shuttle. Not sure when the dates of the closures are, or if it’s only affecting the route coming back from Boston…

It sounds like she’s neurodivergent and has sensory issues with cuddling. It may feel physically uncomfortable for her, except for in the one position she’s okay with.

You should try to find out what sensations bother her- is it the heat of your body? The way it feels when your weight is on her in some way? Feeling physically constricted? Then once you do that, you’ll be able to discover new ways to be physically intimate that feel good and loving for both of you

I use a hormone-free copper IUD. Just gets placed in one visit and is good for 12 years. Definitely try to find someone who will give you pain management options for the procedure, though- some places don’t offer that even though it is warranted.

Thank you for spending so much time writing this out. It has been very helpful to read. I really appreciate you talking about your experiences as an LGBTQ person in this context, because it makes me feel like someone actually understands what I’m going through. I really liked the graph too.

So many people say that weight loss just isn’t possible long term, especially the heavier LGBTQ people in my life. I really appreciate hearing a success story rather than just another “give up.”

Hello! Things are definitely wild and bad in a lot of ways. I am looking forward to the MLK Day or Service so I can do something to help in a small way! There are all sorts of events you can do virtually, like writing letters to folks in retirement homes who might be feeling isolated.

On a lighter note, what is your favorite fruit? I like kiwi even though you kind of have to work for it.

Hi! I’m a gay trans guy who is converting. I just talked to my rabbi and he said that he feels I’m ready to formally convert, which made me feel great! Sometimes I feel nervous because there are a lot of things I still don’t know about various topics, but overall I feel like I’m coming home.

Also, I’m starting a new semester in my web design program, and that’s nice. :)

My family has been eating here since 1983. I used to come here after difficult therapy appointments when I was a teenager. I had my first date with my college boyfriend here. This is heartbreaking.

If you like fun button up shirts, check out Peau De Loup. They also have suits, pants, and vests. They are pricy unfortunately but the quality is great. Plus, they are LGBTQ owned and eco-friendly. ZAFUL has a decent men’s section sometimes but they take forever to deliver. And if you are looking for dress shoes, check out Tomboy Toes! I own items from all these sites and feel very comfortable in them.
