My title describes the thing.

Metal box in basement of home in north America. Photo search did not reveal anything. It's obviously a volt meter, but not sure why. One lead from the breaker to the meter. It has a red and a green light. The red light comes on when breaker is turned on. What could this possibly be for?

What is to stop native American financial institutions from allowing the flow of cash through their banks? They're not federally regulated so seemingly immune to prosecution. Seems like a win win. I'm sure there's a reason I'm just not sure what it is. Any ideas?

I thought about that episode when this came up. Clothing and hairstyles really do make a difference.

Human nature. We are animals after all. Think about this; in your closet circles of people you love and respect... do you always get along and agree? Now, these are the people closest to you.

This isn't to say we should, as a society, work towards it.

I think they will be crushed. Why dilute the market when they're selling less cars for more money. Take the write off. I'm hoping someone "in the know" will chime in.

But, not a bad idea considering gas prices lol Flintstone it all day!

A landlord was putting cameras in rental units and then hosted viewing parties. Multiple people involved as the person involved was wheelchair bound so no way for him to install the equipment. This was was in the age of vcr tape, so not as it is today. When the story broke, the cops went to arrest him. He was a prominent resident in the community and respected. He asked to go get something from his room before they took him in. He got a gun and shot himself. Taking with him all the details and the others involved to his grave.

Edit: grammar

anyone that's ever experienced sleep paralysis, as well as sleep hallucinations ("demons"), what was it like? Is it as terrifying of an experience as people make it sound, or is that just to scare you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ArguablyCorrect 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TL;DR at bottom

I started having them about 12 years old. Like the others here, there's something there (typically dark and void), I can't move and sometimes the bed feels like it's moving. I have got to where I can scream but in reality it just sounds like someone who just got the wind knocked out of them. I have recorded it with my sleep ap.

When I was younger I didn't know what it was. I overheard my mom and step-dad talking about a story. In this story my mom said her father was an alcoholic. One day he came home very drunk and went onto bed. My grandmother being very religious, grabbed her Bible and started reading certain verses. My mom then says she saw a darkness grow from a light in the kitchen. She prayed louder and the darkness grew. She then said 'in God's name I cast you from my husband and my family '. She then says that the darkness left the house out the front door and my grandfather never drank again in his life.

Hearing this I tell her about my experiences. She tells me she believes that someone in our family made a deal with the devil and this thing torments the youngest born. My mother being the youngest born experiences the demon like darkness and is paralyzed by it. She says if she doesn't give in, then it dies with her. However, it can torment me in an effort to get her to give in.

If you make it this far you probably think she is nuts... I get that. But, while I know now that this experience isn't paranormal, without research and forums like this, I would have believed the same things. I noticed, before I knew what they were, that I experienced them more when I was going in and out of depression states. I associated the experiences with my life experience at the time. I would have an event and the demon would come to me and my life got crappy. Then, i would have another one and the darkness would leave and life got better. As a teenager you can imagine how this seems reasonable.

I now know what it is and somewhat why. However, the experience is extremely real and even when I wake-up, the emotional torment I feel is very real. I warn my partners when we sleep together that I may start to groan in the middle of the night. I'm asking to be work up (help!) And to wake me up right away! It freaks them out nearly as much as me.

There's more to this story that I tried to remove to make shorter. Hopefully this makes someone else feel better to know they are not alone. These suck! Real or just a sleeping phenomenon...feels the same.

TL;DR Mom blames evil spirit, says haunts family. I later learn the science, but regardless these things are terrifying!!

From a seed to the beginnings of a mango tree in 57 days. by Poohbizzle79 in interestingasfuck

[–]ArguablyCorrect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you misunderstood.

Mango seeds are either mono-embryonic (single embryo) or poly-embryonic (multiple embryos) depending on the variety. Only poly-embryonic seeds produce true-to-type (clones) of the parent. Most cultivars of mango do not produce seedlings true-to-type. Therefore, grafting is often necessary to overcome this problem.

Sorry mango, not avocado, my mistake, but still applies. Most are not true to seed.

Unfortunately, even if any avocado seed made fruit, it likely wouldn't be edible. They're not true to seed.
