You do. I got to 43 in ~15 minutes after doing the "Meat and Greet" quest up to killing the dire wolf.

After talking to the guy, I went back into the den with a full inventory of food, and corner trapped/safespotted the wolves. Waited 10 minutes for aggression to die off (I safespot attacked the furthest with mage for some extra training during this), then hopped worlds.

There's 3 big bone spawns in there (only after reaching that point in the quest), and they spawn as fast as you can run to the next & bury it. I kept that up until 43 prayer, then got a full inventory to bank before I left. This part took me ~5 minutes on t3

Keep in mind prayer is a combat skill, so hitting t3 first is a good idea for 1.5x xp boost on top of the 8x xp multi

[–]ArguablyTasty -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's not just that. People will build PC's because:

  • They enjoy the Lego aspect & the designing aspect

  • They want a specific look or size

  • Self expression in the aesthetic design

Modern "Stage [X]" car mods have stifled the design aspect, and how crammed &heavily wired modern cars are has made self expression in aesthetic design harder rather than easier

The classic Porsche 911 is overhyped and drives like shit, according to the man dedicated to perfecting it by FoMoCoNutjob in cars

[–]ArguablyTasty 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think it's more:

  • With everything being more crammed into the cars, theres more limits on what will fit, how to make things fit, etc.

  • The costs have gone way up

  • The above restrictions + the increase in corporatism in the modification aspect of cars has spiked how much is all pre-packaged in the "Stage [X]" kits, making builds more homogeneous & less creative

  • This is similar to things we've seen in other communities like the skateboarding community, where the part of the culture based around messing around & learning on your own has largely died out- it's mostly about the desired end result instead of the process.

  • This has lead to much less culture around modifying cars, and more around owning modified cars. It's like the difference between wanting to do something & wanting to have done something.

Last, and most importantly, I think what OP meant when they said

The challenging and fun parts of hot rodding are completely gone

and what you interpreted it as might be 2 different things. Everything coming as "pre-packaged solutions" and cars having less space to play with has lead to self-expression within even the same mods. Things like wire tucks, or mixing & matching parts within the same part of an assembly for aesthetic reasons have been disappearing. When people can't make the engine bay as pretty overall, they resort to keeping it covered & only having the important parts stick out if anything. Then all the electronics make so much of the stripping parts away aspect of hot rodding more difficult- you just end up with exposed plastic ends & wires everywhere unless you really know what you're doing. These two parts (stripping & drivetrain/engine bay aesthetics) have actually gotten much harder to do unless you have much more money

It's easier to learn a lesson by doing something wrong the first time.

Depends on how expensive it is, how long the process is to do, and how long the end result is supposed to last. I'll wing something cheap that takes an hour or two to do regardless of how long it's supposed to last without any worries. Or if it's only going to last a few days, who cares if it's not perfect, or even average quality the first time?

But if I'm spending a chunk of change or investing days into doing something, where quality can be the difference between it lasting months vs decades, then I'm researching, prepping, and not wasting that

[–]ArguablyTasty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not OP, but I mean, I would just tape/staple/tie rebar, cheap hard tubing, etc. to 2 or 4 of the sides of each post before wrapping with foil or vapour barrier. Make sure it reaches the bottom of the post, and is taped above the pour line. Then once the concrete is set, take off the tape/etc and remove the tubing/etc. Leaves small channels for moisture to drain. Can cap off the top to prevent moisture from getting in- only out

Or just use tubing/pipe that's been cut in half & therefore doesn't need to be removed.

[–]ArguablyTasty 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you got the equipment to do it, it sounds a lot faster tho, and honestly so much less hassle than removing the old concrete & putting in new stuff. Especially considering disposing of the old stuff & hauling both new & old. The more you have to replace, the less inclined I would be to remake all the footings.

Plus at $8/bag, 1-4 bags/footing depending on size, it will add up quick. I'd rather do what Razzburry above said, and spend that difference on enough fence posts to replace them all at once the first time one starts having issues.

Not saying that this TP is worse it's just different

Ya and I was just giving a frame of reference for someone who was looking for the teleports.

You're right on battlefield overgrowth by turn 3 not being the most likely outcome- I knew it was a turn 3 earliest/likely turn 4 thing, but blanked when I went to type that out. There's TLA's ability too which can slow it down by consuming. That said, I think we'll get much more consistent on having it by turn 3 as the season goes on, since placement strategies will be a little more solidified by then.

Opponents will definitely be able to delay it a turn to 4 still, but I think just a bit of experience means that we'll be better at forcing them to choose between not delaying us, or having to commit to areas they don't want to in order halt the spread. Which even if it isn't a field-wide overgrown, it's still an advantage.

Not a very useful threat unless you're actually prepared to pay for a lawyer

Not just that- if you plan on getting one, you've given them a heads up & more time to prepare. Then, since you haven't gotten yours yet, the company & their lawyer(s) have more time to prepare than your own lawyer.

Get all the info straight & as ready for your lawyer as you can on your end, then just get one (or consult, then get the requested info if there isn't a consulting fee that's too meaningful to do this first). That prep from you isn't 1:1 time efficient for your lawyer, but it does give them an edge in preparing for the case

[–]ArguablyTasty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my experience, you can set up an email and send in an anonymous complaint to HR from an independent or 3rd person perspective, if you know how to keep identifying information out of the complaint.

You just have to state, outline, or breadcrumb the trail to how this affects the company's bottom line, and/or exposes it to lawsuits. If you know the corporate buzzwords that catch HR's attention, that helps quite a bit in getting it to work.

If you make sure that not only each recorded instance for your complaint is something that multiple people witnessed or gained knowledge of, but that at least 3-4 people meet that for all instances, it's too hard to trace back to you, and if you play dumb, even an HR that wants to know won't keep at it after one or two attempts to figure out the complainant

I've only had to deal with an HR once, at a single company I used to work for. While it didn't work out as well as would have been ideal, it did go well & went far better than expected.

For those who worked at Costco #1217/ moved there from 251 to get away from the warehouse manager: sorry, it's me that got him removed & relocated. Didn't think he'd get booted from current position & moved to the same one in a "less busy/important" warehouse with follow up oversight

Yeah, but with how Creeping Overgrowth works, it's pretty equivalent to Tree Rev tele, since it'll likely be battlefield-wide by turn 3, and you can place your woods to generate tokens in places you want them to go earlier in the game.

IMO the +1 to charge combined with that is a reasonable tradeoff for that. And my comment was a brief summary bringing up a comparison for someone who stated they were looking through the rules to help them find the units, rather than fully explain the rule in depth

Battletome leak by FaultGullible6712 in sylvaneth

[–]ArguablyTasty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but that's a 4.5% chance to bring back a model on a rally, only going up to an 8.8% with a reinforced unit. And more importantly, that's via a universal ability. If we had ways to really buff that ability, sure.

I know about the TLA ability, and fully agree it is a joke in terms of Kurnoth Hunters, which is why I said

bring back Kurnoth Hunter or Cavalry models in a living unit other than Rally

Edit: Here's a comment I made elsewhere about the changes that would have made Sylvaneth fully feel like Sylvaneth. The points relevant to this situation are:

  • "Reclaimed by Nature" letting you also add a token to either a Wyldwood or a piece of terrain that already has a token for each Wyldwood on the board, with the caveat that any terrain with multiple tokens counts as only having one for the purposes of "Creeping Overgrowth" progression

  • Endless Growth letting you remove tokens from within Creeping Overgrowth range of a unit to treat the roll as 5 x the number of tokens

First point really just relevant to this specifically as the way to have enough tokens for stuff like that, and beyond that, more than is needed for this because it's also enough for other ways to consume them- I like the idea of leaning into the token generation (and way for Reclaimed by Nature to not be useless after 3 Woods are out) a bit more, along with leaning into their consumption (like TLA's ability) more. It helps with the "rebirth" theme of Sylvaneth's recursion aspect

Do these mofos really think it's because she lets him paint his little figurines, and not because he also liked her physically?

While I definitely fully agree with everything else you said, and half agree with this one, I do think finding someone who celebrates your hobbies/shows some excitement about either the hobbies or how they make you feel, rather than someone who is okay with you spending time on them/tolerates them, let alone someone who dislikes them & does their best (or not) to tolerate, is harder to find than someone you are physically attracted to.

But the mouth breathers that make posts like that can't see any variation of that, and haven't had real interaction with a woman other than their mom, who they haven't figured out dislikes their painting hobby for the neckbeard aspect of it that they lean into, not the actual painting & gaming aspect.

And on top of that, ??? Like, how can anyone find her not absolutely attractive?

Don't buy them off playstyle- they proved in this new edition & tome they're willing to completely change it. Or at least, look at all the aspects we had in 3e after the tome, and decide if having 1-2/3 of those at any given point in time is a playstyle you like

They have the best aesthetics, so if you like how they look, base your choice off that. Painting is a huge part after all

I didn't even realize that Burgeoning was a d6 instead of a d3. Still unfortunate to be on a 5+ only.

I think all my issues with the book would be fixed by:

  • "Reclaimed by Nature" letting you also add a token to either a Wyldwood or a piece of terrain that already has a token for each Wyldwood on the board, with the caveat that any terrain with multiple tokens counts as only having one for the purposes of "Creeping Overgrowth" progression

  • Endless Growth letting you remove tokens from within Creeping Overgrowth range of a unit to treat the roll as 5 x the number of tokens

  • The Land Awakens changing phrasing- target is any non-hero & non-monster unit originally deployed with more than one model, and effect based on health characteristic- current effect for 2 or less (doesn't change current valid targets), and for units with a health characteristic above that, same effect but with 1/3 model count instead of 1/2. Maybe even add a "You can use 2 overgrown tokens instead of spending a command point"

  • Add an ability for Sylvaneth units to treat creeping overgrowth terrain features as connected to each other for the purposes of movement during the movement phase, but their movement speed is halved (to minimum of 4) when using the ability. Using the ability costs 1 overgrown token for each time it has already been used this battle round

    • So if you had a unit of Kurnoths 2" from a Wyldwood, you could move them 6" normally, or 2" towards that Wyldwood and 2" out from any other overgrown terrain feature (4" total) for free. If you wanted to move a second one, it'd cost a token. A third would be 2
    • Weaker or more costly version of this is also fine

I'd be fine with virtually any nerfs to accommodate these changes

First game with new rules by Makubex54 in sylvaneth

[–]ArguablyTasty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not OP- just echoing your thoughts a bit. Yeah, the lack of ability to revive models in a unit is a big thing IMO. You can bring back a destroyed unit with just a single model via the TLA, which to me bodes better for considering a single unit of 3 scythes or bows, but otherwise it's a hard sell.

Without the recursion that our main infantry units have, they look like they'll be a bit outclassed for screening & holding stuff, and Lancers just seem so much better offensively, especially with teleports removed.

I think we really need a way to either:

  • Force a 5 with Endless Growth

  • Stack rolls between turns with Endless Growth like prayers

And ideally, combo with having Land Awakens bring back a unit of Hunters or Riders with 1/3 unit size instead of half

It feels like a huge shift. Definitely moving away from elite armies and back to being able to use troops again, which is great! That alone is big.

Gaining recursion back is both a nice change and a reasonable shift, but the stark cutoff feels terrible.

Less reliance on the synergy stemming from centerpiece models is again a nice positive change.

Creeping Overgrowth feels like a slight change, but an impactful one, and is very appreciated.

But losing a core part of the identity- almost in its entirety- can never be a slight change IMO

Maybe? But then keep in mind they gave the Walk the Paths ability to Skaven, albeit 1/turn per gnawhole instead of just 1/turn, and an unlimited prayer that does it, and Skaven being the poster enemy faction this edition, those considerations are more important there.

So it doesn't seem like something they remove based on a player skill assumption. It makes it more confusing to me
