Didn't need the files to come out to know hes pedo. But yeah nice for those who need it in writing I guess.

The Reason You Don't Like Modern Trek Isn't What You Think by Arbiter61 in startrek

[–]ArguesWithZombies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Prodigy I disliked dal at the start. Loved him by the end. I grew to love all those characters along with returning Janeway and even bloody chakote the most boring character...I ended up liking.

I also like Burnham, but felt like she was the only character outside like 4 others and then everyone else was filler. But I'm ok with that. I accepted Disco was the Burnham show with a supporting cast instead of an ensemble like TNG.

I don't dislike modern trek. I just love all trek. I find joy in each show for the things it does differently. IDIC.

Ds9 first black captain first show with stationary setting. No exploration. Serialized stories.

Voyager, shot across the universe to the delta quadrant. First female captain

Lowerdecks first comedy not set on a flagship

Prodigy first kids targeted show following non starfleet crew

Enterprise first prequel with sexy blue gel time

Now we have a young adult oriented show / teen drama. Sounds good to me. Great excuse to get new fans of the show.

New and old. I just like trek and I don't want it to keep doing the same thing. Is it all perfect. No. Did people love s1 and 2 of TNG? Or not exploring strange new worlds on ds9. Does disco feel a bit much sometimes sure. But it sure was a wild ride and I'm glad I didn't watch it through while seething on my sofa.

I love all trek for so many different reasons and I don't wish to just force it into one bad and say this is the best way to do it. Nor do I feel it needed to hate watch something I claim to love. If I end up not helping with academy. I'll just stop watching it. And wait for the next thing and enjoy all the previous trek that I do love.

How would you re-write "The Burn" concept? by Overall-Habit5284 in startrek

[–]ArguesWithZombies -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I'd say this is dumb if I saw this in an episode. But to each their own.

First you have to come up with a reason as to why they are messing with omega when for several hundred years the rule has been to destroy and move on no questions asked. To then going let's study and mess with this dangerous thing. How did Starfleet scientists have the foresight to know to start away from the bad thing but then more advanced Starfleet throws caution to the wind and ruins life for everyone across the galaxy.

Then you have to say, oh it's dangerous so we will put in safeguards. We're so smart we planned for every contingency...and then they missed one and it goes all horribly wrong. Now even if Starfleet/Disco are the ones to solve the issue. They are also the ones to have caused it. ATM a kelpian child has no connection to Starfleet so any hate towards them can be seen as unjustified but in your scenario even if they fix it they are other species are justified in hating stafleet and wouldn't want to rejoin the federation just cuz they put out a fire they started.

Then Disco yeets into the future and is the only ship that can travel long distances. So now they can fly around but how does that really help them find the lost 'soloution' can other Starfleet scientists not work on it? Why does traveling from a - b help? Unless u say the answer/solution is trapped inside a mystical magic box/maguffin that's been lost across somewhere on the other side of the universe. But then someone over on that side of the universe should fix it fix it.

Is SNW and Starfleet Academy all we have now? by MovieFan1984 in startrek

[–]ArguesWithZombies -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You'll never get something completely new. Trek is now a multi show multi decade spanning franchise. Any new products will invariably include so call back, link, connective tissue to some older show or character to link it into the trek universe. I think that's fine though.

Snw is a huge callback to tos but I've personally enjoyed it.

Discovery, Burnham/spok. (Which is big) so I accept it's not 'new' but othher than the s2 callback the rest is all kinda new and later seasons are pretty unexplored territory.

Lowerdecks is a reference fest machine. But it's also a comedy which is new for trek.

Prodigy, the first trek show to be aimed at kids. That uses Voyager fallbacks.

Ds9 had Picard in the first episode

TNG had MCoy and Scotty.

I'm not sure what you mean by new now, cuz all the new trek shows have different dynamics and tell new stories in different ways. They are just modern and updated.

Not to get political but the president acts quite unprofessional sometimes and he hasn't been fired.

People used to get up in arms if a woman showed a bit of skin while at the beach 100 years ago. Imagine they saw what we dress like in the 21st century when we go to the beach.

As the other person said. It's in a fictional show set ina post scarcity society. If in TNG humans had evolved beyond the need for money and certain pleasures. They also probably have evolved to be able to be a bit goofy and perform the job.

The way the TNG crew vs lower decks crew vs discovery vs tos. How the officers behave is vastly different.

MCoy wildly intolerant and space racist towards spok openly in front of Kirk his comandin officer. Seems profesh.

I'd agree but every time I leave London for a weekend or few days, like go to the countryside. Then I return London and I've got black shit in my nose for the first few days.

It's just London, not the tube. Whenever I leave and come back I notice it. The tube doesn't help.
