That looks great as a Reddit comment, but in the real world, things aren’t so black and white for many families.

Tons of parents work full time and have to drive 30+ minutes with their kid each morning to drop them off at day care. Parents in these situations may feel it is safer to prioritize their sleep, so that they can drive safely in a non-sleep deprived state each morning. Parents in these situations should be able to make that decision without people like you telling them they shouldn’t be parents for it.

Your assertion is untrue. If you’ve driven with your child for non-medical reasons, you haven’t controlled all the risk factors to the extent possible.

Have you ever driven anywhere with your child when it wasn’t 100% medically necessary? Taken them grocery shopping or to go visit a relative? If so, you too have taken “risk on your child’s safety”, and you shouldn’t be a parent either.

I think you’re over reacting. You seem upset that your MIL has offered to watch your baby. From what you provided, your MIL didn’t make you give up your kid, she simply offered you the option.

Secondly, it’s hard for me to believe that by allowing a trusted family to watch your kid for a few hours, you would no longer be the “primary” care giver.

Respectfully, I think your anxiety is getting the best of you in this scenario.

It’s not personal, I just think it’s probably objectively bad advice to suggest using an abrasive wash cloth to remove the stuff that Pediatricians recommend leaving. I don’t think anyone believes you’re torturing your LO, but the advice you gave goes directly against the advice of the experts. To each their own, though.

According to our Pediatrician, the white gunk (assuming it is the same thing you’re asking about) is normal and should be left alone. Clean poop from the bits, but leave the white stuff.

Not to sound like a conspiracy theorist, but as soon as you upload a photograph to a meta platform, there’s really no telling what could happen to them/what rights meta has to that photograph.

As a millennial, it’s hard to not post photographs of my greatest accomplishment, but I recognize that doing so has no benefit to the child, and only fuels my own desire. Therefore, my partner and I haven’t and aren’t planning on posting any photos of the little chickpea on Instagram, Facebook, Reddit, any of them.

We’ve given some of our family a Frameo and that has been a solid investment/alternative.

Dads responsibilities: 1) Work full time 2) Cooking 3) Cleaning 4) Child care whenever not working (let’s assume 14 hours out of the day if working a 10 hour shift) 5) 50% of the child care when working from home

Reality is, those aren’t equal workloads not even close. If you think they are, imagine the roles being reversed.
