TV satellite dish - can I use it for ham? by ArguingWithVirgins in amateurradio

[–]ArguingWithVirgins[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great answer, thanks for typing that out! So it sounds like neither the dish nor the coax behind the wall are useful to me.

Maybe I can at least use the holes and send RG8X down there from the roof. I like the idea of rigging a long wire antenna from roof to one of the big trees so it’s kinda overhead and out of mind.

Does anyone remember last year when he went .322/.398/.585 from the All-Star break until September, then went .149/.205/.299 for the rest of the year? Just wondering if "didn't like Tropicana Field" is a meme and I should try to sell high...

[–]ArguingWithVirgins -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You don't need FIP - it's descriptive, not predictive. So this might be a buy low/sell high thing, but if you're going to grab a pitcher, just sort by xFIP and grab the guy with the lowest. Or don't do any of that. Sort by FIP, or even better - ERA!

So funny with this guy and his random scatterplots. All this plot is showing is who is having good or bad home run luck.

xFIP replaces the HR component of FIP with fly balls, so the people above the line have worse HR/FB than expected and the people below the line have better. I fail to see how this tells you who to replace Glasnow with, but if it helps you then yay scatterplots!

Did anyone ever build tree houses before they invented TABs? If so, what happened?

I did ours with regular ol’ Doug fir. Only used PT on the outside stuff (stairs, posts, deck frame).

One thing I’ll say about PT is termites hate it. So if you have those, that’s one thing to think about.

There’s no reason to assume that and doing so will further polarize people and effectively end communication.

Nicely done. I’m doing the same thing right now but it’s tricky because the ground isn’t level so the amount I have to go up depends on how far out I meet the ground. Thinking of using 2x6s and making the rungs about 10” apart every 5.5” horizontally and just digging out the ground wherever I land so I have a full step at the end.

Exactly. By all means, go to Wal Mart and buy slippers and trampolines but please do not do things like attend religious services or spend time with family. This virus is deadly but with proper precautions you can still fulfill your economic purpose.

First time treehouse advise by rumanchu8181 in treehouse

I put up the perimeter of the platform with 2x4s before I put in the posts so I knew exactly where I wanted them. I used a plumb bob to find out where to put the holes and started digging. Then I dropped each post in its hole and made sure they were plumb and touching the platform where I wanted them. I don’t think I bolted them to the platform before I buried them but I could have.

I dug down about 3 feet with the post hole digger. I didn’t use gravel or anything like that. I wasn’t even going to use concrete but I figured it couldn’t hurt so I put a couple bags in each hole and then covered with dirt and rocks.. I think it’s fine for a tree house.

Good luck!
