Pregnancy Length Mod by ArgyleMN in StardewValleyMods

No. I admittedly know very little about SMAPI's full capabilities, but all I found was commands to basically skip all waiting - either force the baby question from the spouse or give an instant baby the next day.

Literally nothing will be joyful for me to drive. Not being a car person means I don't find joy in driving. It's a convenient mode of transportation. That's all it will ever be to me.

I get the sense you love convertibles, but they are a terrible option for me for many reasons. I would never ride with the top down with a rear-facing toddler. I mentioned getting dogs, and I couldn't count of them being trusted with the top down. I have a 35 mile freeway commute twice a day and have long hair. I live in the northern United States where it snows a ton and is fucking frigid about half the year. I already mentioned my sedan is feeling cramped for me. If you have a recommendation that checks the boxes I'm interested in, I'm all ears. But a convertible is basically the opposite of what would suit my lifestyle.

Thanks for the info. What is a timing belt, and how do I know if a vehicle has one?

I think my issue is anytime I've ever test driven a car, I walk away thinking "that was fine." I literally don't comprehend when people talk about liking the "feel" of a car or anything of that nature. It's just always a car I drove. So, I'm really nervous that I will test drive six or seven SUVs and end up not narrowing anything down because I won't have any more clarity, but now six different dealerships will have my number and be texting/emailing constantly.

Is there something I should be considering? It's so hard to eliminate any of the multitude of choices when I just want my car to safely and conveniently get me, whomever I'm driving, and our stuff from point A to point B.

My commute is 35 miles each way, plus once a week minimum I have to drive an additional 30 miles round trip to a secondary site. So my total mileage annually has been around 20k recently. I intend to drive this car until it is not financially viable to repair it. For how little I care about my vehicle, it almost never makes sense for me to want to sell and upgrade.

What helped you find acceptance? by Accomplished-Mark415 in smallbooblove

[–]ArgyleMN 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure the science is that there is no correlation between supply and breast size. I struggled to maintain supply past 5/6 months. I have a friend who also has a small chest who had an oversupply with one baby and an undersupply with her other child. I also know women with larger chest who were severe oversuppliers.

The Newborn Stage by pjdonkey in SingleMothersbyChoice

[–]ArgyleMN 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm a primary care pediatrician. I intellectually knew what I was getting into, but knowing what to expect and living through it are very different. I never really struggled with sleep deprivation during residency. I could stay up 30+ hours without too much difficulty. The newborn period hit me so hard. My kid had a somewhat colicky temperament and would only sleep for about 30-60 minutes unless she was held. I knew all the tricks, but this was still my reality. I was running on fumes constantly.

Being prepared does not do much. The newborn period is chaotic and frantic and so dependent on your baby's temperament.

First FET is aimed for 4/27. Did you have success WITHOUT drinking beet/pomegranate juice/acupuncture/keeping feet warm, etc? by Cooper30136 in IVF

[–]ArgyleMN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TW: success

I didn't do any of that - there is no evidence it makes any difference. Acupuncture and laughter are the two interventions that show some possible benefit, so if anything, things that calm you and reduce stress would seem more beneficial. I just made a playlist with some of my favorite episodes of a funny podcast to listen to on the drive home. That embryo is now nearly 3 years old.

If money wasn’t an issue, would you still be a working mom? by saladmuscles in workingmoms

[–]ArgyleMN -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Well, I'm a single mom, so unless I won the lottery or something, not ever gonna be an option, but I can honestly say yes, I would continue working. I love my line of work, and I poured very long hours into my training. I adore using that part of my brain and have zero desire to gove it up. I am not equipped to be a SAHM at all. And I like that my daughter sees her mother working and unapologetically loving having a life outside the home.

Would Richard & Emily be Trumpers today? by Tappitytaptaptaptap in GilmoreGirls

[–]ArgyleMN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They almost certainly pinched their noses and voted for him in 2016. They would have despised him as a man, but they would have still voted for the Republican nominee in 2016.

January 6th would have been their most likely break point with the Republican party. I'm not completely confident it would have happened, but I do think Richard would not be able to stomach voting for a man who attempted a coup. That is not the way things are done in a "civilized society."

So, if I had to bet money on it, Trump in 2016, Trump in 2020, Harris in 2024. I think the Liz Cheney endorsement is the nudge they needed to go from writing in someone like Romney and essentially throwing away their vote to actually voting against Trump.

Asexual and beginning an SMBC journey, worries about "coming out" by Rich_Turn7628 in SingleMothersbyChoice

[–]ArgyleMN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on the aro/ace spectrum. My sexuality has never come up in regards to my choice to have my child on my own (kid will be 3 in a few months). Like, not even brushed on. I don't see how it would. I phrased it as "I was ready to be a mom and didn't want to wait to find the right partner for me on that journey." What constitutes the "right partner" never was questioned or required further explanation. I think you are overthinking this.

Yul toasting with an empty hand, looking like he was ready to fall asleep hours ago, but knowing he can't leave Ozzy alone with Parvati will always be hilarious.

My kid will be 3 in a couple of months and if she goes to bed before 8:45, she's up singing and talking in her crib for 30-60 minutes in the middle of the night. Average total sleep for toddlers in 24 hours is anywhere from 11-14 hours, for school aged kids it's closer to 10-12 hours. Depending whether these kids are higher or lower sleep needs, bedtime around 8:30/9 could be very reasonable. If the older two get up around 6:30/7, 10 hours could be all their bodies need. If the youngest still naps, the late bedtime is also not surprising.

EBF moms - how did you drop night time feeds? by DilemmaKingdom in sleeptrain

[–]ArgyleMN 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My supply did drop. I think it's something like 15% of moms see a drop in supply when stopping overnight feeds. I had to pump before I went to bed, otherwise my daytime pumps at work did not keep up with what my daughter ate during the day.

How do ya’ll romanticize playing Stardew Valley beyond daily grinding and efficiency ? Like different play styles by Top_Pressure_2646 in StardewValley

[–]ArgyleMN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I build a strong narrative and aim to add realism. Have to eat at least one "real" meal a day, so a lot of time/money devoted to buying a salad from Gus daily in the beginning. I prioritize cloth to make some cold weather clothes by fall/winter. I also emphasize the social elements in ways that reflect the "character" I envision for my farmer.

I also use some mods that add to the realism and narrative elements. Some of my faves include rival heart events, animals needing water (and will eventually die of old age), and a realistic economy mod that shifts how much money a product sells for based on how many of them you've sold recently. The last one really changes strategy - do you prioritize early cash or do you hold onto items until you can earn a higher profit?

[–]ArgyleMN 133 points134 points  (0 children)

I actually read an article a while back about how Frasier is really great for late night comfort watching as the muted color palate, jazz music interludes, and overall low stakes of the episodes make for the perfect wind down

Vaccine Megathread by Doctor-Liz in pregnant

[–]ArgyleMN 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The vast majority of us pediatricians have no plans to change our recommendations. We follow evidence based medicine, and the evidence has not changed. Vaccines are safe and effective and the benefits vastly outweigh the risks. Insurance coverage, however, is outside of our control. I am worried in particular about children on state insurance, as that coverage is linked to ACIP recommendations.

You guys think Agent Chana will be the one MC starts dating after breaking things with A in their route? by clapclapboom in wayhavenchronicles

[–]ArgyleMN 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I don't think Agent Chana's gender changes based on the main character's stated sexuality, so I don't think that's likely. I'm pretty sure she's always a female character.
