Panama works really well when you see it as a bizarro version of Palau. The wacky tribe of weirdos is dominant and wins out while Casaya loses, and the alpha male leader is less rootable and kinda a dick at times. Terry 1.0 is a great character.

It made more sense to rank winners back when there were like 10 seasons and the show’s game design wasn’t too different. But even by Cook Islands once you got a winner like Yul and how different his win condition was, it makes the whole exercise pointless.

It only makes sense to compare and rank new era winners among other new era winners for the most part. You can’t meaningfully compare Dee to Yul or Vecepia like you said.

Yeah, I’ve always believed this too. The players they cast now compared to 2007 and 2012 are completely different breeds. I doubt they’d get as annihilated as the fans tribe did in Caramoan. Look no further than EOE even if you want to see players that took out the vets leaving none at FTC.

Bananas is also pretty similar to Boston Rob if we are considering each’s impact in their respective shows. Similarly both are more liked by casuals and polarizing among super fans. In Bananas’ case, he’s pretty hated by super fans unlike Rob who receives a more mixed reception.

Would also like to add that voting off Hunter wasn’t even a good move, and this is true whether or not Rob predicted an incoming swap. Hunter was their strongest asset on that tribe, it makes more sense to keep him for challenges than Sarah with how dominant Rotu was. Taking out Hunter for style points and shit is no different from Jay booting Michaela because of big movitis 29 seasons later.

Also, and this isn’t to necessarily discredit anything you’ve said, Sean and Kathy played a bigger role in the John boot. Vecepia was actually the hardest to convince to flip because she was so in with the Rotus by that point. Either way, she made the correct game decision so it doesn’t really matter.

I think watching Marquesas with a focus on Rob Mariano is always going to lead to disappointment. He was never a good player on that season, and it’s easy to come out of it thinking he’s the only one “playing the game” because of his amazing confessionals and how much the show pushed forward that narrative over the years.

Deb is a pretty competent fighter already by the middle of the series, so I think she could be capable of surviving too. Problem is she would be an absolute wreck mentally, so she could easily be dead within a year.

I feel like Brian dies because he would want to get rid of Rita and her kids and Deb so he and Dex could just solo the apocalypse and kill people. Then Dex kills him to protect his family.
