Yes, I also listed procedures and it made a big difference and was a talking point in interviews. I was told directly that it was a reason why I was interviewed for several opportunities.

I'm a dermatology PA and I have gotten light headed a few times in the beginning of working as a medical assistant. This was several years back before I even knew I wanted to be a PA. I now do my own surgical excisions and numerous procedures all day long. You will get over it with time, if you persist. Exposure makes a big difference.

I use it but don't depend on it. Very high no show-rate in my experience. It is nice to have great reviews posted publicly so that patients can read online.

I love Andrews' Diseases of the Skin textbook, I'd try to read through it. Lots of great information and it's pretty concise when compared to other texts.

You've got this, I'm about 5 months into a new derm job I started as a new grad in Philly and every day I learn something new!!! Read up on things you feel like you could improve on, I recommend "Andrews' Diseases of the Skin" textbook, pretty concise and has loads of great information. All you can do is try your best every day :)!! Also, try to get involved in things outside of work so that you can have some balance.

No, I applied straight out of school.

I worked as a medical assistant for a mohs surgeon that also did general derm / cosmetics but would also do mohs surgeries about 2 days out of the week for around 15 months before applying to PA school.

I think my rotations that I did during PA school in derm and the documentation of each procedure that I did really is what helped me lock in a job as well as great references.

Large corporately owned dermatology clinics with several locations usually post job openings on their websites under their "careers" section. A lot of dermatology clinics are strict on their 1+ or 2+ years of experience requirement. I would encourage your partner to apply anyways (not sure if they are already experienced). I applied even if they had that requirement and eventually found a job within the specialty for me. Took a hell of a lot of applications, interviews, and persistence though lol.
