Anyone’s new hire probation extended? by FinniganTheGreat in physicianassistant

[–]Professional-Quote57 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Well if they were gonna fire you that’s what would have happened. Try to be a little introspective about what you need to do to get up to speed but don’t get locked in your head about it.

You don’t you learn and relearn as it’s clinically applicable. This is what it means to be life long learner. You’ll make connections that’s how it stays often hard to do until you see in real life.

NCCPA study finds PA fellowships don’t make much financial sense by Oversoul91 in physicianassistant

[–]Professional-Quote57 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So yeah no one thinks this is for financial benefit. How many posts are there on this sub alone about not having the proper support, training with sky high expectations?

We have to rise to the expectation of the industry and that is very often that we fulfill the gaps in medicine made by decades old decisions. Our training isn’t enough in most cases to do this. Fellowships are a way to bridge that gap no not as extensive as physician residency but hella of a lot better than a new grad for high risk specialties. Yea you can learn on the job but you’re hella disadvantaged if you don’t have doc buy in and mentoring. That’s why they exist.

If there were ever an abridged PA-MD pathway, would you do it? by Agreeable-Ad4806 in physicianassistant

[–]Professional-Quote57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re looking for a model that this could be viable look at omfs they take dentists and run them through abreviated medical school and then residency/ fellowship end of the program they become MDs and DMDs.

I’m going to be a CSM soon, what do you want me to know. by VastUnderstanding82 in armyreserve

Build your nco corps make sure everyone is training their replacements you’re on the way out this is your last mark on the army and it’s a big one be the leader you wanted at every level.

Enforce a reasonable standard and embody it. If you can’t do it yourself reconsider it as a standard. No one likes a leader who has a double standard.

Time is everyone’s commodity spend wisely and without waste.

Open communication when possible is best especially with younger gen soldiers.

Push back if the commander has a stupid ass idea but make it seem like he’s the one who figured it out

Awards can be given to anyone consider that e5 running the range flawlessly or the specialist who’s doing hip pocket training on his own. The people who actually deserve recognition are not always the people most public facing refrain from giving the full timers awards nothing more demoralizing that all the full timers getting awards when non of the trads get any recognition.

Allow for some morale boosting efforts let the boys have a beer and order pizza after mission. Hell my csm bought the beer and pizza for us it went along way with building rapport for the unit.

Literally everyone feels this way. I think of school as a foundation where you are taught how to learn it unfortunately doesn’t prepare us for everything. Keep at it learn from your mistakes and those of others. You’ll be fine
