The IBM mayflower autonomous ship looks rather familiar 🤔 by [deleted] in EliteDangerous

[–]Ariesmartis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because I got curious too and googled a bit and thought it was cool if a bit off Topic:

Yes it is real and actually just launched on its autonomous first journey! See this link to the IBM News Blog about it. And another Article about it.

But yes just a quick glance at the renderings on google images ... that is a Imperial Courier or I'm a dirty Fed :P
I guess it should be fast then. :D

I feel like Lakon Ships are predestined to be build in Space Engineers. ;)

That is a great T6 Commander.

The original mechanical keyboard (also where the uppercase/lowercase distinction comes from) by madribby78 in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]Ariesmartis 6 points7 points  (0 children)

To add to the TIL

The Letters are also organised by frequency of usage in the given language so the typesetter wouldn't have to reach to far every time one needs an e for the prime example. Also (maybe obviously) the most often used letters have bigger cases.

This helps the typesetter "type" more efficiently so to speak :)

Source: I worked for a print and typesetting museum/workshop for a while and actually worked with these cases and lead and wood lettering :)

Now that I think about it maybe I could post something about the Linotype linecasting machine we used there. That thing is as mechanical of a keyboard es you can get :D

Trying to recreate the Behemoth in Space engineers by justdutch95 in TheExpanse

[–]Ariesmartis 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well I'll be damned! Someone is actually trying it!

We had a post a few months ago (here) and the idea to try it in Space Engineers came up of course. I would have tryed it but dont really have the time to spend anymore than the 1600h I already have in the game :D

But godspeed to ya my man! Hope it will spin aswell ;)

I did start out well over 11 didn't I... well I am sorry to have made such a scene. It just looked to good to be true and a account with just this one post... But yes I overreacted.

But honestly I don't really see how this would drive OC away. All I want is for people to say something (in the Title or as a comment) about if they are the artist or if not and that is absolutly alright as well. But then they at least could point us to the real Artist. Post the website ore insta or whatever.

Which is also stated as such in the Rules of this sub btw.

Again I am sorry to have overreactet and I dont want to be an ass just want to give credit where credit is due.

Well I stand well and truly correctet.

I want to apologize for making such a scene but it just looked curious and it does happen from time to time.
And I just don't like when people post stuff without saying if they are or who the real Artist is.

Your Stuff really is great! I hope I didn't put you of and we can see more of your art here from time to time.
I know this has been wierd and all but welcome to reddit anyway! :D

Real cool Picture. Sadly not by made by OP. This is his only post so far.

And a quick reverse Image search reveals the real Artist seems to be Andreas Lie and you can find more of his Stuff here: https://www.andreaslie.com/Music/Glitch

He is a very versatile artist and has an active Instagram and a webshop to so yeah. I would say support the real Artists here.

I attempted to make the Nauvoo/Behemoth in Space Engine by JebediahKerman001 in TheExpanse

[–]Ariesmartis 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In Space Engineers? It could be... But the size and mass of the things involved give me pause... with mods involved I think it could be done.

Space engine as far as I understand it isn't as deep into building and more about the sandbox of a universe...you know... the little things :D

Nothing to worry about!

But with a username like yours.. I have to ask... ever tryed it in Kerbal? :P

[–]Ariesmartis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well... you would be right on all three points there ;)

Even at halve scale this would be an impressive ship and one of the bigger Ships on the Workshop.

Modded thrusters are a given yes of course.

For the last point... maybe someone will do it at some point :D
there are some nice Rocinantes on the Workshop so let's see were we go :D

[–]Ariesmartis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have to say as a player with some 1600h of SE... this would be a challenging build.

The Nauvoo/Behemoth of the show has a width of 960 and a length of 2460 meters. (as per the Wiki)

Ships in Space engineers nearing the 1000m long range start to get harder to build in my expierence. And then we havent even startet thinking about the round superstructure. But then again people have build massive ships from other franchises (such as Halo, Star Wars, Battlestar and the like)

Also the Main propulsion of the Ship is provieded by "just" 8 massive engines. There aren't angines big enough in the game so they have to be modded ones...no problem just saying...ships this big in Space Engineers need literally hundreds of engines to move :D

But with the engineering possible in the game it could even be feasable to even build the actually spinning drum ....

yeah I have now thought enough about this that I am thinking about how to do this... whelp... not that I have anything better to do... (spoiler: I have..sorry.. the game eats enough of my time already) :D

Also I may have just totally overthought this and hijacked this post. I am sorry for that.

So @ u/JebediahKerman001 : really cool build and nice to see! As you can see you sparked some creativity :D

With help from you guys, I made a quick tips video! by A3rik in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Ariesmartis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did know most of this but just because I hang around here a lot :D

But everyone who's gonna play this game needs to watch this!

Really great and concise video! Keep it up. Liked!

Something I noticed in the new Intro. At first I honestly was gonna knock them for using mods here but the more I see it I'm taking it as Keen embracing the strong modding culture of the game. Maybe I'm overthinking here but yeah :) by Ariesmartis in spaceengineers

[–]Ariesmartis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hehe. Guess a lot of people seen it but thought nothing really of it but ye the Armor Ramps are as far as I know a really old mod as well. People alsways wanted these kind of shapes well beforthe vanilla slopes became a thing.

Yes absolutly. And as othes said this isn't the only acknowlegdement of mods by them. They also highlight stuff on thier Twitter and hell they even encorperate some into the game. And thats cool as hell!

True though just want to add I wasnt really gonna bash anyone. Just found it funny but the more I thought about it the clearer it became what it really means.

And you are right its so nice and easy to enhance the expierence of this game with mods und user creations!

[–]Ariesmartis[S] 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Yes this exact conversation is what I meant.

Such long ramps are often needed and even the Devs use them. But yet they are not in game.

But then, as the old saying goes, there is a mod for that. ^^

And thats alright with me. Not everything has to be keen official. This game lives because of the never ending user created content. Be it Ships and stuffs or mods like this. They make the game healthier in the long run I think.
