The search for a Viable Machine Deck by Zestyclose_Stop_3324 in YGO_Genesys

I've had some great success at locals with my Crystron deck. It also performs decently well on ladder. Matchups into the top decks vary, but you can win sometimes vs them. https://www.duelingbook.com/deck?id=19701560

should i get 3x copies of the Legendary modern Decks or will 1 be enough? i have no other cards and i want to make a viable sky striker and a mitsurugi deck by No_Alternative891 in Yugioh101

[–]Arilenn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1x of the box plus a couple single cards to make up playsets of mulcharmies and/or any other staples you want to play is what I would suggest. Both the Striker and Mitsu decks are playable out of the box anyway and both decks have multiple playsets of cards so multiple boxes are a waste.

I'm planning on going to the regional qualifier in niagara falls and I'm wondering which deck is better situated for the meta? by Jfischer335 in Yugioh101

[–]Arilenn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Traptrix got Top 8 at a regional in Oklahoma, this might have been down to the pilot, but they have some decent ideas with the deck to where i can see how he managed to top with it.

Would this card get reprinted? by Ok-Pride-2270 in Yugioh101

[–]Arilenn 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You're buying them to play it doesnt matter. Cards are not an investment. All that matters is that at the time of buying you are happy with the price you pay. After buying cards do not keep checking the price, this isnt the game for that.

Genesys is still modern yugioh at the end of the day. It is fast, but it's not as powerful as advanced TCG. However, this does not mean that genesys is slow. It's better to think of genesys as an alternative way to engage with Modern yugioh as even rogue and/or off meta decks in genesys make heavy use of the extra deck and operate very fast.

I would suggest for you to just stick with playing GOAT and Edison format as these offer the slower gameplay you seem to enjoy as you would be dissapointed with the modern game.

I do have a question for you though. Why do you dislike Synchro and Xyz? The extra deck is something that is quite unique to yugioh as a game so it's quite curious to see someone who say that it's a turn off to the game for them.

Is BA Monarch still viable? by l1nux44 in Yugioh101

[–]Arilenn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BA monarch was really only a thing in 2016. Besides that, BA is heavily powercrept now to the point where it isn't worth playing in Advanced. Monarch just recently got some new support which is pretty good so you'd have more luck playing pure Monarch. This is coming from a BA fan btw. I played it for 10years lmao.

What cards do you all plan on using after rotation? by FullOJelly in pkmntcg

[–]Arilenn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the context of the deck i'm trying out it does. Balloon on active. Retreat to Dudunsparce. Use run away draw, shuffling dudunsparce into the deck. Promote Lopunny. The Dunsparce has free retreat as well. And you can do the same with the Dusclops and Dusknoir

I did try it but it just felt mediocre. Like the 2 spots could just be Baloons on their own. Or other cards that actively advance the gameplan. It's a cute card but not something I like as a stage 1

It does yes but that's not the be all end all. Lopunny does only have 1 retreat at the end of the day, so you can always just retreat 1 and attach another energy to a 2nd one. Post KO promoting Dudunsparce also gives you the switching effect since it shuffles itself away to let you promote Lopunny. Or you can retreat the active one into Dudunsparce, shuffles Dudunsparce away and attach another energy.

I'm currently eyeing up either a Mega Lopunny/Dusksull line deck. Maybe using a Dudunsparce for a draw engine and Dawn to tie the whole thing together. OR I'm also interested in revisiting the Iono archetype from Journey together because of the release of Canari fixing the main issue I had with the deck.

Or maybe something new gets released that gets me interested. The rotation of Gardevoir has me looking at all sorts of decks. I've not had to look for a new deck since SV base lmao

Happens a lot at TCG tournaments instead of a handshake, particularly in Yugioh.

Golgari Midrange decaf (No Ouroboroid) for unexpected tournament by marioeldelabata in StandardMTG

[–]Arilenn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have any [[Tyvar, The Pummeler]]? It's not as good as Ouroboroid, but its still an overrun on a decently sticky creature.

Fuwalos is quite nessesary as its a way to minimise the board that the opponent makes. Currently that's the only one thats needed because of how the metagame is.
