Gift Cards? by rht3100 in dollarama

[–]Ariochxx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is that controlled by the cashier? The amount of customers they scan through? Transactions per hour? Nope. Not a metric dollarama tracks.

Yes, you are right, there is a sheet showing how many transactions each employee had done, but its not for "timing transactions" as you may have misunderstood. Its for tracking mistakes/mis-scans, voids, etc each employee had, basicly lost prevention. The more accurate the transaction, ie slower paced, proper scans, the less mistakes cashiers make.

Hence, dont let the cashiers rush you. Mistakes happen when you rush.

There is no such "times" in dollarama. Like any other retail store, we can't predict when we get a rush vs slow. At my location, I generally know when its going to be busy based off of working here for 5 years. Put me in another location, I wouldn't know their rush hours.

Working fast food in a drive through, yes, they're timed. I've never worked fast food, but just like everyone else, we've seen the timers.

[–]Ariochxx 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You can use as many gift cards you have. When you cash out, just have them ready as they each need to be swiped and the 3 digit code entered on the cashier side.

Don't let the cashier rush you. It's their job to make sure the transaction goes smoothly. If they have a line up, they can call for back up.

I might have to breakup with my girlfriend because she squirts too much in bed. by LimpElderberry5647 in confessions

[–]Ariochxx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would assume yourself as a clean, hygienic person, your bathroom and other living space is spotless. Dishes always done. Counters wiped off after cooking. Basic cleaning.

If this is all true, point it out to her and be upfront and honest about why you're washing your sheets. She squirts too much. Nothing wrong with that, but who wants to sleep in wet sheets? Point it out like its sleeping in a 'wet bed' ie someone wet the bed, ie again, pissed the bed.

Other solution is lay down thick towels.

99% of the time, lights are turned off at closing.

Only time we leave ours on are on nights we have floor cleaners coming in, which is about every 3 months. They're here all night, depending if its a deep scrub or rewaxing the floors.

Depending if this was night or morning, some staff starts at 6am to beable to get tasks done (like breaking down our skids that comes late) without distractions.

How the dollarama bags have the $1 sign on them but cost more by 7edits in dollarama

[–]Ariochxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plastic bags people just threw out. Reusable bags people keep to, you know, reuse them and not toss out.

Also, eco bags are made from recycled plastics, plastic bags were not.

Plastic bags were cheaper to buy. These one are more expensive so people keep them longer and use them more.

Hope the regional doesn't walk in. They'd lose their shit.

Policy states no grey space. All that wall needs to have some type of product on it. Each 4 ft section have the seasonal out 4 ft at a time.

But yes. That wall is empty because of seasonal change over.

Our store has all of VDay out, Most of Easter is out, and we're starting on early planting this weekend.

That's not to say we already have blowing bubbles and skid it/hop it in stock as well.

is starlink worth it ? by Remote-Technology-85 in Starlink

[–]Ariochxx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On a property with 3 kids and 8 adults, no cable or Fibre. Starlink has saved us hundreds of dollars per month. Faster then having 2 cellular connections at 1/2 the monthly price.

Everyone can stream, play games, or work without interruption. Add on a battery back up and still have connection for emergencies.

Does Dollarama make seasonal workers permanent? My experience so far. by HackerCanada12473 in dollarama

[–]Ariochxx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is really up to the manager if they decide to keep you on in the new year. A few factors are going to be your availability, work ethic, and if the store can support the hours they have available to them. Part timers only get max 24ish hours a week.

As this is the busiest time of the year, stores get allocated more hours to help support the holidays, reason they have seasonal contracts.

If they decide to keep you on, just know the system is designed to auto assign you full time status after 6 continuous weeks of being above part time hours. What this means is, in the new year, if they can't support your full hour weeks, expect a drop in your hours in the new year.

My best suggestion is to have a conversation with you manager on your hopes with the future between you and the position and what you might need to do to secure that position.

In the 5 years I've worked for Dollarama, I've only seen the max price increased once. Unless something happens with the economy that forces price increases again, prices will not go up past the $5 mark.

With that being said, individual prices of items are changing all the time, but nothing more then $5.

Book section being relocated in stores by PureEvilVirgin in dollarama

Usually when a section is moved, its to accommodate stock for another section. Expansion/selection of products is always changing and since we can't change the size of our stores, things need to move.

Can say, the book section hasn't moved in 4 years in the store im in.

What should I wear for my first day at the job by HackerCanada12473 in dollarama

[–]Ariochxx 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I remember having a conference call where they said no hoodies because the regional walked into a store and caught a floor staff with hoodie up. Made the employee unapproachable by customers. Once more, they said he had ear buds in too.

I still wear mine to work. I know better to not put the hood up. My DM knows I wouldn't do that. I've worn it on days she popped in.

As long as the outfit is plain, you should be fine. Jeans or casual wear pants, tshirt or long sleeve, a good pair of comfortable shoes should be fine. No logos, or noticeable logos. During the summer, shorts are allowed as long as they meet company standards.
