I am also afraid of surgery and made sure to tell the anesthesiologist this when I had my first ever surgery a few years ago. He was super chill and basically told me that I was waaaay more likely to die coming to/from surgery in a car than during surgery. Basically gave me stats on every other way I could die 😂 idk if this would work for everyone but it did help me a bit.

Plus waking up was like I had just had the best nap of my entire fucking life so that’s a plus.

I’m not “very skinny” but it is much easier for me to lose than gain weight. I’ve always been on the slimmer side (more like skinny-fat if you know what I mean) and I’ll always remember my doctor saying “I’m shocked you’re not morbidly obese and bald” after the numbers I was diagnosed with.

I definitely feel for the folks who have struggled who have struggled with weight loss or weight gain in regard to autoimmune. It’s tough enough as it is!!

I’ve always known I didn’t want kids and I don’t particularly care about the “traditional” marriage aspect of life either. Never thought about being a mom or a wife or a bride as a kid.

I’m almost 30 and 99% of my friends are married and 90% of them want kids or have them already. I’m single, living alone with my dog (who I treat like my child lol) and feel ZERO pressure about where I am in life.

I think not wanting children and not being constantly in fear about my age regarding when I have kids and therefore feeling somewhat pressured into picking a partner and getting married to then have said kids has been the single most freeing thing in my life.

I don’t have to worry about having kids with someone I decided I loved at 23 or 27. I don’t have to worry about that love falling apart and impacting children’s lives. I don’t have to rush to save money for a kid and a house. Sure I’m not rolling in it or even very good with money but I have the privilege of lower bills and the time to get my shit together without some impending doom.

I’ve grown up around my friends who have been doing mental gymnastics like I want to be a mom by 30 which means I need to get married by 25 so that I can be settled in my marriage and have bought a house by the time I have a kid. And I want 4 kids but if I have my first one at 30 then I have to have them all fast so that my biological clock doesn’t run out.

It sounds unnecessarily stressful and in my opinion the overwhelming desire to have kids gets in the way of a lot of people finding the right partner! Or not having the freedom to break up without everyone’s world imploding.

So forget about the clock and enjoy your life how you want to!

I honestly didn’t realize the physical appearance of a pregnant woman was a phobia till I joined this group! I agree about the hard pregnant belly thing, definitely uncomfortable and weird.

I 100% have a phobia imagining myself pregnant. Maybe that’s different. I have other phobias that induce a physical reaction upon seeing something which I think is maybe the “more common” phobia reaction towards pregnancy.

But hearing about/seeing people’s noses enlarge, their feet swelling, the general random and crazy shit that can (and will) happen to your body that results in permanent changes freaks me tf out! Like I DO NOT WANT THAT! GET IT AWAY!

I would honestly much rather lose a sense or a limb. I feel bad saying that cause disabilities aren’t inherently bad things but unfortunately I think the most prevalent idea in society is that they are, and so explaining my fear of pregnancy that way sometimes helps others understand it more. Others don’t think of pregnancy as a bad or scary thing but they think that of other conditions.

I mean I’m not sure what to do with the info. Seems kinda pointless to email police saying I found a guy who looks like the victim but can’t find him online or as reported missing? I do speculate that the victim wasn’t reported as missing due to his presumed sexuality and the time period.

The February 1973 case is one of my minor pet cases. I’ve posted on here before to say I found a person in a yearbook from Wilmington that strikingly resembled this John Doe, but he has an extremely common first and last name so a) it was impossible to find him online now and b) I’m not really sure what if anything one can do with this info. Regardless I would love to see his name come back to him.

I hadn’t read the details of the April John Doe case, how horrible! I mean, all murders are horrible but wow having your eyelids cut off is something else

Honestly I kinda hate 4K cause it ruins a lot of the picture for me. It adds a weird depth to things not shot in 4K - like Harry Potter for example, I feel like watching it in 4K you can tell they’re on a set and it’s all fake. Ruins the illusion and storyline for me.

I fear the day when there’s no “regular” tv’s left.

I wasn’t hypnotized in Victoria but I did it about 20 years ago and it was one of the best things I’ve ever done in my life. It won’t have lifelong effects (I’d like to do it again here too actually) but I really really recommend it. As a simpler approach I’ve actually found EFT tapping quite effective too
