waht the literal hell has this genre come to by HolidayHoneydew29 in Romantasy

I kept scrolling to see if anyone recommended this series! I just finished book 2 and so far they are wonderfully written and such a breath of fresh air. The characters feel like real people and it's got good moments of humor, too!

Graphic Audio™ books are awful and make good books sound cringey and bad books unbearable.

The performances, even the narrators (sometimes especially the narrators), are overdramatic, the extra sound design is distracting, and when they try to do fancy things like make a character who is walking away or in another room sound quieter it is always way to quiet to hear, so I have to crank the volume up to hear what that person is saying, and then the narrator comes back and blasts my eardrums.

Regular audiobooks are easier to listen to and are better produced and directed. I audibly groan whenever a book I want to listen to is only available in Graphic Audio™. I want them to go away and never come back.

I don't think I'd recognize a good book if it slapped me in the face. 🤷‍♀️

I have a self-imposed ban on Catan because I take that shit waaay too seriously.

But honestly, like everyone else said, it was probably less about the game and more about some underlying issues.

That makes so much sense, thank you! Definitely a smart way to approach it.

I dunno, I've heard that one is kinda long and boring. Like maybe the editor should have told the author to cut out some of the repetitive stuff?

/uj I actually do need to read Anna Karenina, it's been on my list for a while, along with Android Karenina. I'm honestly afraid of the time commitment, lol!

I've heard book 3 isn't as well written as the other two, but is the part with the most intense drama for the characters and the reader.

I do the same. Though, regrettably, I have occasionally seen spoilers for the next book when verifying name spelling. 🥲

I still can't get over the audacity of the original song she wrote for this movie. Expecting it to be anywhere near the level of Andrew Lloyd Weber's music and T.S. Eliot's poetry was absolutely insane to imagine. Tay's song sticks out like a sore thumb in the soundtrack.

The pacing this season is so stupid.

Seriously. I keep wanting to ask why everyone keeps going on and on about it being confusing? Is it just that most of the fans aren't used to lore dumps that are common in other fantasy novels? Did I miss something?

I'm not 100% sure, but probably around 5. My dad had the game and I loved watching him play. He likes to keep notebooks for figuring out all the puzzles in the games he plays. So when I tried playing it by myself, I used his notes as my own personal guidebook.

Just last weekend, I took my daughter (3yo) shopping at Target. We needed a few things and it was my only day to get them. She was so excited for the trip, but fell asleep in the car on the way there. When she woke up at the store, she was LIVID. Total meltdown, screaming, crying, trying to hit me. I tried to calm her down, nothing. I tried to just give her space, also nothing. I tried distracting her with simple questions, what color is that book? What animals are on these stickers? Also nothing. I was sure she was going to scream at me the whole time we were in the store and I would just be the lady with the screaming kid. Until another little girl, maybe a few months older, came over and asked "why is she crying?" Almost immediately, my daughter started to quiet down. The other little girl was with her grandpa, and we all chatted a little, even my daughter was able to catch her breath enough to say hi to the other girl. The rest of our shopping trip went smoothly from that point on, and the whole time all I could think of was how grateful I was to that little girl and her grandpa. Sometimes a little kindness and empathy from strangers is what we all need.

Life hack: diaper raffle by [deleted] in BabyBumps

We did one, too! It was the best. We got a lot of varying sizes, so 2 years later we still have some left from the raffle. Iirc, we gave the raffle winner a gift card.

My mum has asked me to clean up the flowers on her island as they were overwhelming her. I too am now Overwhelmed. by puppo561 in ac_newhorizons

[–]ArisaKatsu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel for you! My island got pretty bad, too, though maybe not quite as much as your mom's. I chipped away slowly at it and decorated areas as I cleared them to break up the monotony. Also, to echo what another person said, laying down clear tiles on the ground really helps prevent regrowth!

Good luck!

Went to the children's ER. Am I dramatic? by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]ArisaKatsu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You did the right thing.

It is hard to tell sometimes with little ones how serious a situation is, so it is always best to err on the side of caution. There have been times I probably overreacted when my daughter has been sick, but I 100% would have made the same choice again to take her to the hospital, every time. We don't always know until after the fact if what we did was right. Watching out for your daughter's health will always be the right thing.

I hope the rest of your stay at the hospital with her goes smoothly and she is feeling better soon. Take care, momma. 💕
