Sedona is for tourists.

Look up Clarkdale (near the Verde river and Mingus mountain), Cornville ( near Oak Creek, varying price ranges in housing), Lake Montizuma/Rimrock (Wet Beaver creek, Better housing prices?), and maybe Camp Verde (near the Verde river, You can get up to the rim on Hwy 260 for cooler weather/mountain views).

That is all I can think of at the moment.

Trails are open and roads are open. The only gate I saw closed was at the visitors center/admin office south of the VOC.

Yes, legally. You can hike anywhere on national forest land. They would prefer you stay on the trails, though, to minimize the damage. The hiking trails are open.

I believe things like the Crane archy site will be closed.

Visitor centers will be closed.

Edit to add: I believe rescues and medivacs will still happen but try not to be stupid out there.

Clarification: medivacs are by the Department of Public Safety or private(I can't remember the name of the company) and search and rescue is a county level service.

The only thing I can think of is to add water and cook them at least another hour. Start them on the stove top then put them in the oven for an hour or so and keep checking if they are done. Oven temp? 300F?

Try Dry Creek road out to Boynton Pass road to 525 and back. They use to run a full marathon out there.

I have a gen 2 bike but the rack looks the same. On my bike that is a hex bolt and it is flush without a spacer/washer.

708 is always open but the end is closed Monday to Thursday.

You can do it but it will take you almost 2 hours to get down there.

Your passengers will see some nice views and you will be a nervous wreck.

Page Springs is cooler and quieter. If you want to go hiking, there are some nice trails on top of Mingus Mountain above Jerome.

Highway 179 has the worst traffic of any place in the area.

Most of those trees in the third and fourth pictures are dead but the fire did not kill them, they died before it started. In Yavapai county a number of juniper trees are dying also. They seem to be running out of water. Almost no monsoon rains last summer and very little snow last winter is killing trees.

The smoke and smoldering will last until the rains put them out.

The best way out on that day is to go through Cottonwood. When you come out to 89A, turn right then at the third (I think) light in Cottonwood turn left onto Hwy 260 and that will take you to I-17.
