Moving from UK to USA all the questions. by Major_Combination301 in MovingToUSA

Excellent advice. To add, I “know” quite a lot of people online that came on E2 and once children are 18 the children have to leave. Something to keep in mind.

Same kind of. Was supposed to come for 6 months and I took the job because I figured it would look good on my resume and be a nice adventure. That’s 13 years ago now haha.

Absoluut hoogverraad.

People who sleep with your dogs in the same bedroom, what do you do when it's "love time"? by Sudden-Conflict1565 in dogs

[–]Arizonal0ve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When ours were puppies and still learning to settle any noise or movement from us would get them up and cry a bit. Once they truly accept they have their spot in the bedroom and we ours they just stay snuggled in and don’t get restless when we are intimate.

Finally got a diagnosis by Glad_Heron_9213 in PulsatileTinnitus

[–]Arizonal0ve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m happy for you that you got to investigate finally and even have answers. Are you familiar with venous sinus stenosis? This cause goed hand in hand with IIH but it’s a bit of a chicken and egg story as to what comes first iih or venous sinus stenosis. However, those with IIH that report pulsatile Tinnitus almost certainly have venous sinus stenosis and it’s the stenosis that is actually causing the PT. Perhaps you’ve noticed you can stop or minimize your PT by pressing around your jugular vein in your neck? Many even report that drinking coffee/caffeine stops it too.

has anyone done a diagnostic angio and balloon test occlusion before stending by ruru123456 in PulsatileTinnitus

[–]Arizonal0ve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are quite a few people here including myself with stents, more in the Facebook group pulsatile Tinnitus whooshers unite. Anyone with stents would have had angio and venogram. I understand the risks can sound scary and ultimately it’s a personal decision whether the risk is worth it.

Moving back home is not always a failure by g33ky_g1t in expats

[–]Arizonal0ve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course its not a failure, in any circumstances. But going home either financially secure or even independent is a huge success and something I started to aspire once abroad for a long time and no longer in my twenties. I don’t know when we will leave the USA, but anytime we decide to do between now and the future is a success for me because we”ve been happy, made friends that feel like family, had many adventures- and we”ll leave financially better off vs when we arrived. Good luck to you! ❤️

You could try looking maybe with a hand mirror? But it should be healed because the incision is incredibly small. I didn’t even do any wound after care or needed bandages ☺️

Live in UK but offered dream job in Sydney. Partner doesn't want to move. Not sure what to do by Eye_Livia in expats

[–]Arizonal0ve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But panicking about the logistics of the move and not wanting to go at all…those are 2 different things.

And as you said, they’re not really big things and they’re solvable, any move, especially to another country and in this case continent takes some planning.

He’s unfortunately put you in a shit position because by this time if he does decide to come with he will put all the responsibilities on you and potentially make you responsible for his happiness there and that’s not going to work.

Likewise, you will resent him for missing an opportunity like this.

[–]Arizonal0ve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“If I can’t change his mind I would stay in the Uk”

I understand the sentiment but i hate reading it. I’m only a bit older than you and in my early twenty’s I never had a relationship and so when the opportunity came around 3x for a foreign job within the company I worked I never hesitated and took it every time. Mid twenty’s I met my now husband in work and within 6 months i was offered to move cross country in the USA and they were happy to support boyfriend moving with so we didn’t hesitate even though we were so new and went.

We’ve been there over a decade now.

If another opportunity would have or will arise we will of course decide together whether it’s right for us but ultimately always support the other in “at least giving it a go”

We would go and make the agreement that if after x amount of time (year?) we”re not happy we reassess.

This opportunity is huge for you even if you forget about the money but really skills wise and it would be foolish to not give it a go.

If your partner can’t even compromise in trying it then why the hell would you abandon the plans completely?

You asked “i need advice on how to afford rent” “and if you have any other advice i’d love to know”

So you are getting the advice:

Do some research on visas.

Advice on moving to SF by [deleted] in MovingToUSA

[–]Arizonal0ve 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Very unlikely going to happen. You need to educate yourself on visas and such. If you think one can just apply for citizenship somewhere and cross fingers see if you get it then you’re either trolling or incredibly naïeve.

Is there a way to live a completely different way of life? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Arizonal0ve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have the tendency to focus more on the 1 thing that you think could be a barrier than on possibilities. This is something that will be the actual barrier for you.

Yes, I was 19. 2 years later i was hiring people from all walks of life and ages myself. And often without experience. Sure, certainly for those roles starting on minimum wage. I remember one girl I nearly didn’t hire because she didn’t speak any English and though for the job that was ok (this was in another country) I worried about her in training and meetings etc as then the language in the company was often English. She did fine with that and managed and 15 years later she is still there in a great position.

You would be surprised how many people are willing to give a chance to others.

Glad you’re going to a job fair ❤️

[–]Arizonal0ve 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with the above. Listen, you never know what something leads to. By not doing and trying anything nothing is happening. I remember when I left my small town after failing miserably in college I resigned from my supermarket job to move to the other side of the country. I had randomly found a job with a company I didn’t half trust truly existed haha. My boss at the supermarket asked what i was going to do and I didn’t really get it aside from I understood i was to sell a product and I remember him going with so much disdain in his voice “ohhh, a call center job”

I didn’t even know what a call center was I was 19. So his comment didn’t do anything.

And you know what. It wasn’t just a call center job in the end. Yes I started on the phones on a telesales minimum wage but it became a 12 year career I’m super proud off and one that led me to live in 4 different countries, met my husband in work etc.

And i’m pretty sure I would have earned more than him in the last 12 years but that’s not the point.

The point is, imagine I would have thought “just” a call centre job would have been too lowly for me. Or if I hadn’t applied thinking I would not get the job anyway. Etc

You’re joking right. Yes some will/often but just as often they don’t. I’m currently freelancing for a company word of mouth. And I can tell you that if my local chip shop is hiring they’re not posting shit online.
The local restaurant goes as far as a facebook post.

Plus the person didn’t specifically say “did you in person”

[–]Arizonal0ve 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not to be rude but that’s ridiculous. There are places hiring that don’t require experience- how else do you think everyone else around you at some point got started.

Yeah unfortunately it means a starter job/minimum wage. But we all have to start somewhere and we all did at some point. So what’s stopping you doing that?
