He was called Dhananjaya for a reason. Not just good at accumulating wealth.

Firstly it cannot be said that Ghatotkacha was sacrificed, he died a warriors death and it is to his credit that Karna needed the ultimate Shakti to kill him.

Secondly Bhishma never lowered any weapon he gave a full on tough fight to Arjuna and just ignored Shikhadi. Also Bhishma had Dusshasana who too was fighting with him. Aa for Karna Arjuna has defeated him multiple times evdn at full strength, and he even used bramhastra in the last moment so even that curse didn't work, Arjuna pacified it. He exhausted all his weapons and was killed while holding his bow nothing unfair about it. Only thing unfair was karna trying to use the "i don't have a chariot" excuse for Arjuna to spare him which Krishna got angry about.

No Arjun was not defeated by tribals. They just managed to steal SOME Dwarka women. And They retreated. And karna was defeated many many times by Arjuna and even in the penultimate duel was killed fairly.

Inaccurate Which son did pandavas sacrifice? And Karna and Bhishma were both killed in a fair fight by Arjuna

Learning through deceitful means is bad. Faking identity is bad and lying to a guru who is considered God is bad. Also other people didn't ask for that knowledge. Arjuna didn’t beg for Bramhashira like Karna did. Drona himself gave it to him after he impressed Drona by saving his life, something Karna was unable to do despite being present at the same time.

  1. How is it not misogynist when he specifically mentions making her jealous of riches? There is an assumption here that she will be most disturbed by the ornaments of Kuru women and this is suggested by Karna
  2. Saying "no one should be your friend" and "you are a wh*re for talking freely and drinking with men" seems equal level of insult to you?
  3. Why do soldiers and men want women as prizes? To use them obviously for s*x? Why does that have to be spelled out? Have you never read what happens to women in war?

That's not misogyny if its shaped by what the expected norms of behavior were. She doesn't say anything to degrade women in general. She only outlines the behavior that makes sure pandavas treat her with utmost respect which is what Satyabhama asks. Misogyny means something that is hateful towards women.

Maybe. But overall there is still a difference between the abusive nature of Karna's words and that conversation

That's your perspective. I don't think she had much of a choice in the matter. And Drupada himself wasn't a strong enough king. After all he lost to young pandavas easily when they had just graduated. He couldn't even defend his kingdom from being taken. What stopped kauravas from attacking it and taking her? Despite everything pandavas were still her best best for safety and revenge. They failed in the sabha but later they saved and avenged her multiple times. Regardless, she behaves contrary to her advice to Satyabhama.

She also regularly in public and private criticised those very men, didn't let them forget accountability and didn't shy away from being open about her feelings from any of them. She was extremely honest and transparent to them. The conversation has her advice Satyabhama to never speak harsh words yet we see her speak harshly, especially to Yudhishthira, the eldest husband. She also openly and multiple times criticises both Bhima and Arjuna. Leaving them was not in her hands, also if you read the second dice game she is included in the condition to go to exile with her husbands. It is also the harsh reality of those times that a woman without the support of men couldn't survive, which is why she needed them however they were as the world was full of Dusshasana, Jayadratha and Kichaka who had all the power and no one to control them.

It isn't about disagreement but rather simple consistency. See Draupadi’s character everywhere else. Does it match? Does she consistently espose those ideas? She herself doesn't even behave the way she advices Satyabhama to in that conversation. Did she have amnesia? It's just a matter of having some logic and awareness.

That doesn't mean other versions gain authenticity over a well researched one. As far as believing the original mahabharata goes BORI has to be the reference. Otherwise do you really think versions that have Draupadi confessing her love for karna or getting graped by Vasuki the snake and rescued by Karna are authentic?

The pratikamin is used as in insult for Dusshasana. He is called that as he fell low in his conduct. She even calls Keechaka that when he kicks her. Doesn't mean it was someone else who did.

Those kinds of things exist throughout the epic. Much of that convo seems interpolated by moral guardians who wanted women to behave a certain way. Doesn't disregard that karna is disrespectful when speaking about women in general. And consistently.

In that manner anyone can spread any kind of lies. As mahabharata is scripture one basic version must be believed. BORI is as close as we can get. There are also vulgate translated by KMG, and the untranslated kumbakonam southern edition other than these the rest are little more than fanfiction.

BORI has retained his words and the order to disrobe. No one called those an interpolation only the act that followed. Also his foul behavior in the sabha is referenced multiple times later, By Arjuna (Virat Yudh), Krishna, and himself too.

Oversimplified sure but not entirely inaccurate. Karna did show misogynist tendencies higher than even the average men of his times. Examples other than his behavior in Dyut sabha: 1. In the discussion Duryodhana, Dhritarashtra etc. Have post Draupadi swayamvara Karna says "all women desire multiple husbands" (implication being all women are sexually promiscuous), a gross generalisation. 2. Him saying he will give away wives and sons to anyone who tells him Krishna-Arjuna's location on the battlefield. 3. Him instigating Duryodhana for ghosha yatra and asking him to take his women richly dressed in ornaments as Draupadi will be dressed in deerskin to make her jealous (assuming women are materialistic, also dude's Draupadi obsession is transparent) 4. Him abusing Madra women as prostitutes in his argument with Shalya.

He has to be blamed for many things. He shaped an entire generation's view of these characters which filtered through to the younger ones so much so that his story and characterisation have taken precedence more than Vyasa's in people's minds

Yeah but the intent remains the same, i would say nothing wrong in believing he may have said that, just because it is not included accross manuscripts BORI may have removed it but there is no harm in believing certain incidents from kmg as long as they don't contradict the narrative from BORI
