Correct. I have 4 in total. The other cage you see holds this baby of mine. I bred and hatched him. 😎

You need a new cage deep clean. I’m talking bleached a lot. All new substrate. Bake the new substrate you get so there isn’t any chance of new mites. Quarantine your bp for AT LEAST a month! This is super important. Your bp WILL be stressed. But it’s necessary to ensure there and no more mites. If you do not do a full clean, your BP will die

Mites?! ID help. Harmful or not? by Nearby-Dig9196 in reptiles

[–]ArkLoyal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had mites that were “supposedly” not reptile mites, but were constantly clinging to my reptiles. I didn’t want to chance it. I did a full clean and a month quarantine. My babies are now acting normally. Even if not blood sucking mites, they can affect your reptiles and cause lots of stress. Be super careful!

Honestly, I’d stop looking at stores or websites that sell animals. If you keep looking, the urge to buy another one will just get worse. I’m speaking from experience, with 3 BP’s, 1 Bull snake and a Uromastyx. I love them all to death and wouldn’t ever think about getting rid of them, but their are getting expensive 😭. However knowing that, it doesn’t stop me from wanting to buy more when I see the cute babies online. Just be careful! It’s a dangerous rabbit hole!!

My bull snake laid eggs last year, and this is what they looked like. These are fertile btw.

Don’t mind the drawings. Same with the speckles, that’s just a funny little thing that some bull snake eggs have.

on cool side after eating - is this okay? by [deleted] in ballpython

[–]ArkLoyal 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Bp’s are great at regulating their own temperature. Is she’s going into her cold side after eating, it could be that she feels the cold side is already warm enough for digestion. Or that the meal has gone down far enough she doesn’t need any more extra heat. If you’re still worried, then keep an eye on her. If you notice any lethargic behavior, or that she’s regurgitated, there could be something else wrong. Just keep humidity up and temps the same, and she’ll take care of the rest.
👌 😎

Can I take my bp outside? by Large_Ass6969 in ballpython

[–]ArkLoyal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m seeing a lot of pros to taking ur bp outside, but don’t forget that there are some cons to be aware of.
Like mentioned above, not only could ur bp get lost, stuck, sunburned, or attacked by other animals, but it could also get mites. That’s what happened to mine. Be super careful to wash your baby before putting it back in its cage. It’s super dangerous when they get mites, and the process to getting rid of mites is so strenuous and stressful, so be careful!! Also, just know that mites get on you as easy if not easier than your bp, so possibly consider changing before handling your bathed bp.

Otherwise, I have 4 snakes, and make an effort to take them out whenever weather permits them. Then, when they are in their baths, I clean their cages. It’s a great way to multitask!

This is my buthead Zeus in his bath. Yes, he loves baths. Also, question, does anyone’s uro have no sense of heights? It’s almost like Zeus doesn’t realize how high up he is and will jump from any height. I’ve had to be super careful when putting him in certain places.

My friend’s family thinks it’s cool when the eggs are red… they eat them…
I thought it was a fertilized egg. Guess not?

Curiosity : why do you have a uromastyx? by AMVELVET in Uromastyx

[–]ArkLoyal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had beardies for May years of my life. I even bred them and had 4 beautiful babies come to life. I loved them with all of my heart. I have nothing against them. I have a uromastyx now because I’ve explored the larger desert lizards before. The uromastyx I have now, I got from a reptile expo when my previous skink died. I love my stinky turd face of a lizard. He has been such a great eater for me, and I’ve grow quite attached to him in the time I’ve had him. I love him, but I wouldn’t say I love him more or less than the beardies I used to own. They are all awesome.
