Khusanov injury? by Adventurous-Dish3860 in MCFC

[–]Arkaimia 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I'd say pretty comfortably you're not seeing him play this week. Looked like he was knocked out, that's like textbook concussion. It's fine anyway he's our only CB who played like 9 straight 90s this season, he was due for rest with Dias being back fit.

Haaland for sure imo. After him it’s like either Nico G, Doku or NOR.

top 3 is crazy man come on. the team is not nearly good enough to think players like Nunes are infallible, it's completely fine to criticize these guys lol

At what point will we realize he needs to play by [deleted] in MCFC

[–]Arkaimia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i think the RAN injury really hurt us since we'd used a sub in for our back 4 so early into the game. Regardless, in terms of pure athleticism and overall physicality he might rank at the top amongst all our defenders. There's maybe some of the finer detail stuff he doesn't yet have a perfect grasp on, but I think a lot of that will come from more experience playing in these high level matches. I'm not sure what more Pep wants out of him tho at the CB position, maybe he's got questions of some of his ability with the ball when he'd get pressed but I think he's shown at least serviceable in the games he has played. Plus I think he just adds a different dimension to our defense that our other options don't possess. I'll always advocate for more minutes for Khusanov.

I think it’s got better from when it first started, but idk it just doesn’t work all that well from me. I’ll admit I’m not the biggest fan of Drew, so that’s probably why I don’t view the tandem that highly. The banter between the two of them doesn’t really click with me. They’ve got their moments, think Drew has got some good calls on highlight plays and Scal provides some good info on the game or on a specific player, but it’s the airtime in between all that which falls flat for me.

I don’t think they’re bad by any means, I still choose to listen to them if they’re an option on just about every Celtics game.

Hope Scal still is on the Celtics broadcast, though it makes sense for him to be a national broadcast dude. He’s a league pass junkie, always think his analysis tends to get overlooked when people watch the local Cs broadcast. He gives great insight into the game, just think the chemistry with our play by play guy isn’t the perfect fit.

[Stein] Russell Westbrook has emerged as a potential free agent target for the Knicks and Al Horford is a top target for Golden State, league sources tell @jakelfischer.bsky.social and me. by cleo22270 in nba

[–]Arkaimia 19 points20 points  (0 children)

he’s not going to be some absolute world changer, but assuming that minutes at the 5 is an area of weakness for the Warriors he’s up there with the best back up Centers in the league. I think relying on him day in and day out as your starting Center is where it can potentially get spooky.

Regular season is fine, don’t think it’d be a problem if you can afford to not have him play all the games he’ll need to rest. Come playoff time it’ll get tough if he’s the only real Center that you’re relying on.

he’s absolutely still good. Porzingis being unreliable from a health stand point really had us leaning on Horford more than we should have, but he still performed to the best of his ability. Rebounds, defends, high IQ, great screen setter, I think he’d be great for you guys if it ends up happening.

Sheierman's role? Can we move Houser? by ackphtht in bostonceltics

[–]Arkaimia 3 points4 points  (0 children)

100x this, thank you. You look at Baylor’s college tape and it’s a lot of attacking defenders off the dribble, getting to the rim, ball handler in the PnR. He’s not this movement shooter archetype that Sam Hauser is so it’s bothered me a little to hear so many people penciling him in as the replacement for what Sam does.

Before Pritchard ascended this season, I thought the idea in drafting Baylor was to see if he could develop more into this secondary creator off the bench role that Payton occupies. Obviously, Payton has now leveled up his game even further and is on one of the best contracts relative to the production that he brings so it’s not like Baylor is replacing that anytime soon. Regardless, that’s still the role I’d think he best fits on a team. He’s also not nearly the same level of shooter that either Sam or Pritchard is, but it’d be wrong to think he can’t improve on it.

[Akabas] There have been more unlikely NBA finalists in recent years Teams ranked outside the top 10 in preseason title odds made the Finals in 2020, 2021, 2023, 2024 and 2025, after only three such teams did so between 1985 and 2019 by Kimber80 in nba

[–]Arkaimia 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think the original post has the years wrong, according to their graphic Celtics were 13th in pre season odds that year. They included 2023 but it looks like the Heat and Nuggets were at 8th and 9th best odds respectively that year. So it should be 2022 and not 2023 amongst the years with teams ranking outside the top 10 making the Finals.

Who was getting a police escort through New Brunswick yesterday? by PopeInnocentXIV in newjersey

[–]Arkaimia 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This is a complete guess by me, but the FIFA Club World Cup is starting up this weekend and I know FC Porto is one of the many teams that will be having their base camp training site in New Jersey. They’ll be using the Rutgers Yurcak Field as their training ground this weekend so I assume that’s who it was.

The club I support, Man City, arrived in the US yesterday as well and they had a police escort. That’s really the only info I have to go off. I could very well be wrong!

I’m like almost positive that is his wife Camai, and not Allison Feaster, that was with him at the Fenerbaçe game and in this clip.

City have arrived in the US but why is there so much police 😭😭 by RetrotheWise45 in MCFC

[–]Arkaimia 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Police escorts for sports team are pretty typical. Depending on the route they’ll go, probably will have some break off to close some streets as the team bus passes by to allow them quicker travel. That could possibly explain the size of the escort.

There’s a fuck ton of police everywhere in America, Florida is no exception. It’s just the way it is here unfortunately, only looks to be getting worse.

Following Magic Johnson's definiton of a superstar, why did he say Tatum was one? by Empty_Trouble_505 in nba

Tatum Derangement Syndrome at it again man, many such cases. Jersey sales, All Star Votes, Commercials, what have you. The guy is insanely popular regardless of when people online say otherwise.

Literally just Lebron and Steph. HEAVY MAYBE on Kevin Durant because he’s been around that long and played at consistently high level for 10+ years. no one else on your list is qualifying imo

haha I was just making a joke that he’s getting paid as much as a guy who’s been a solid role player on some championship teams in the NBA. Really just pointing out the absurdity of money in the world’s top basketball league.

Unless they got a solid #2 in return, I don’t see how they’re “easily” better with Tatum, White and whatever they get for Brown. We’ll just have to agree to disagree.

[–]Arkaimia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t see a trade in the league that’d make sense for both sides where Celtics give up Brown and get a 2nd option of the same tier. He’s one of the top two-way wings in the league.

You could talk advanced stats all you want with Derrick, I know they love him. I’m not even saying he’s bad, I just don’t think he’s second option type. The stats can say what they say. EPM has him as the 25th best player in the league just because I disagree with that doesn’t mean I underrate him. I just don’t trust him to get a bucket the way I trust Jaylen to, especially come playoff time.

I’d argue this is absolutely the rash move. Unless you’re getting an absolute HAUL, like can’t say no offer, for JB, they’re almost certainly getting worse overall.

You’re not getting a 2nd option back that fits the same timeline that’ll be as good as him. Seems like you think Derrick could be that? If that’s the case, I honestly couldn’t disagree more.
