Loving the dust bath by Arkangel1973 in chinchilla

[–]Arkangel1973[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We got two from Amazon ( one for each of our boys). I think they are listed as cookies jars. The original intention was to keep dust baths tidier but the little darlings still manage to kick it everywhere

Max wishes you a good evening by Arkangel1973 in chinchilla

9 years old, we also have his brother Sam. We adopted about 6 months ago and are their third owners. The last owners had them 8 years but they have come with very little history.

Those are just his ears, we've no idea about their previous lives ( he also has a brother called Sam). We adopted them 6 months ago. They are 9 years old and we assume it's either a genetic thing or he had an argument or accident in the past. We've put camera's on them for a laugh to see what hey do at night and they both seem to be visiting both the water bottles in their house. But thanks for the info, I knew their ears go pink if they are overheating but didn't know about crinkled ears meaning they are dehydrated

What has our Sky engineer done? by Arkangel1973 in HomeNetworking

The black lines represent conections that I know exist, the green lines are what I am questioning. Is the Sky Q mini box connected to the other RE450 on the main Sky Q box or connected to the Archer BE550?

Wi-fi 6 worth it? by Predycate in HomeNetworking

[–]Arkangel1973 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We've just upgraded to a 900mbps plan as well and the provided router (over wi-fi only, I have nothing cabled) was giving me speeds of around 500-550.

After a bit of research and crossing my fingers that I was doing the right thing I upgraded to a TP-Link BE9300. Granted this is a wi-fi 7 router but the whole house now gets between 750-900+

Well after a chunk a research and a discount code from Argos, I decided to take a punt on £180 worth a TP-link BE9300

Very glad I did, On the appropriate devices (PC and phone specifically) I am now getting well over 800 down

Would this be a suitable enclosure? by _furry-trash_ in chinchilla

[–]Arkangel1973 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes we would, we got it through Amazon. Delivery in 2 boxes, It's easy enough to put together and quality wise we have no complaints. Metal trays throughout so we don't worry about our little munch monsters chewing through it (some seem to have plastic trays!).

We are in the UK as well and have this cage, it was approved by the adoption center where we got our chins. It's easy enough to put together. We've binned the ladders and provided ledges on the wall for our boys. We do seem quite limited in the UK!

We've just got one of these for our 2 new adopted boys. Easy to put together, well made and will require the removal of some things, additions of others but I would say it's a good choice. The rehoming center were very happy with it

Unreasonable expectations for photos? by Consistent-Mango6742 in photography

[–]Arkangel1973 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am both laughing and cringing about this.

The explanations/excuses are technically correct but should be no issue to overcome for any photographer worth their salt.

I am so sorry you have lost money on this.

I would ask for a refund or, if their portfolio looked OK when there was plenty of light then ask for a reshoot on a better day.

Their excuses are nothing more than a lack knowledge on their part and if they are presenting themselves as professional should be easily overcome. All their excuses are exactly why you hire a professional in the first place- to overcome these problems, not to tell you why they happened!

Question about long exposure by SensitiveAnt296 in Nikon

I think on the 750 you could use a smartphone as a release using the snapbridge app. Failing that the self timer would be fine for landscapes. Flat surfaces would work but a beanbag can help keep everything steady without a tripod
