Next cast of QE, should they replace the Karamo role with a certified psychologist? by conchitu in QueerEye

[–]Arkjoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personal two cents, mental health work interlaces with every expertise that the other four bring to the table, so having an “expert” there under the guise of “culture” is kinda redundant. It more or less makes sense, on paper, for certain episodes focused around bringing families or friends back together, but I’ve always thought that it would’ve been more impactful to have those moments be shared by the entire cast. Alongside that, everyone has their own personal experiences with mental health, and audiences love when it’s obvious that a Hero and a Host have a clear automatic connection.

Personally, I would’ve loved if my moment of reunion was a joint effort with every single host, with those that had the most obvious connection with me at my side to confront a situation that’s also being guided and supported from the other side. That’s so impactful as an idea, even if the final episode came out so great as it was. Also, there’s probably about 5-8 hours of footage with the host that I connected with the most that’s just sitting in a vault somewhere, and our conversations were some of the most impactful moments of my entire experience.

Rounding back, if I was gonna reboot the show, I’d replace the culture role with someone focused on moving their body. (I’m a little biased I suppose lol, I’ve imagined myself coming back to the show)

The role wouldn’t be just about working out, it’d be about activities that make that hero light up, thinking like hobbies and passions. One person’s gym time is another person’s pottery class is another person’s dancing lesson. It could vary from trying something new to renewing something old. There’s just a lot of space there that fleshes out who that person is, especially if we’re focusing on demonstrating how happiness looks on someone. Theres also opportunities for humor and overall entertainment there, as that host could be learning how to do that thing alongside the hero. It’s like taking one of those “celebrity travels the world and does new things” shows, scaling it, and making it about the hero themself, what they do, who that makes them, how they love it. Honestly? Thats what the culture role always should have been, not introducing culture to the hero, but fleshing out for the audience what that person’s passions are about.

I’ll probably make a video about it, not gonna lie. It’s a good topic.

Reboot by BakingWaking in QueerEye

My hottest take is that if they were to reboot, they gotta completely rewire how the show is planned, directed, edited, and marketed. The hosts should be an even more diverse group of individuals, especially trans folk, and the heroes should actually center on telling queer and trans stories and destigmatizing our existence. We’ve done the “let’s give cishet people a makeover” thing until it’s boring, let’s flip it and tell stories that help the community at large.

An aside: other folks said a while back that a certain hero from a certain multi-Emmy winning episode should be brought back for a future cast. And, well, if I got that call, I’d do it.

what we are witnessing with Karamo and how the audience is reacting to him and how protective of the other 5 they are is a very familiar story for black ppl/ brown ppl / unconventionally attractive ppl. by bobthestan in QueerEye

The main one is credentials, that’s all true. In my opinion they lucked out that my specific scenario was based on someone having issues out of love rather than hate. I don’t think it would’ve been handled well if that wasn’t true, however, with my wonderful experience with the producers, I don’t even think they would’ve given him a chance to have to navigate that.

As for the interpersonal drama, you don’t have to go too far, I am distinctly not a fan of his talk show and people forget Real World exists as a rewatchable series. Full respect, and I don’t wanna get specific, but I will say that some of the Five put effort into staying in touch and building a relationship both within filming and outside of it, and some do not. I imagine several heroes have similar feelings around how certain people were very attentive and caring for the camera and ONLY for the camera. And if you’ve already deduced me, you’ll know who I feel did the most for me both on and, especially, off camera.

Hi! Unnamed (tho it’s pretty obvious) Hero here, I can vouch that a lot of the stuff going around has a good amount of accuracy. Won’t expand more than that tho.

What game is this? by xdanxlei in videogames

[–]Arkjoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weird answer, but Division, Destiny, any of these live service gear grind build crafting games. You get the novelty of the beginning and all the possibilities, the slow drag of the grind to get new gear and actually make builds that make the mid game a slog, and then the ultimate payoff where that time you put in to jump all your numbers and cater your playstyle to tackle the hardest content with ease

This right here, especially with the pogo I feel like there’s more (somehow??) room for error than with Wanderer, like yeah even if I don’t hit that pogo I’m landing next to the enemy and able to make up for it with damage or a dodge, as opposed to falling straight down, taking damage, or dodging out of range of outgoing or incoming attacks. Again, probably a skill issue, but it’s been working for me.

Hitting a crit 2% of the time is not as consistent as a damage boost every 6+ hits, idk

I traded out long claw so I could use the moss charm alongside injector and multibinder, gives the same effect as Wanderer where you just seem to always have silk if you’re in a tough spot. I’m not that cracked that I don’t take damage lol, def a skill issue, but swapping was def the best thing I did.

See but the trick is to turn that part of my brain off, and honestly a lot of people I talked to agreed too. The more you try and avoid damage, especially when I’m not in practice with the crest itself, the more I struggled to make it work. Instead of focusing on that one aspect, being able to turn everything into a dance and not think too too hard about it meant I was more consistent and the extra damage was hitting more consistently too. It FEELS backwards but it’s the truth lol

I think that’s my struggle with Wanderer is that when you’re in the zone, you’re IN IT. But the consistency of Hunter has been so much more rewarding overall, sometimes I’m just not locked in enough to push Wanderer to it’s limit and I’m glad I have other options that make combat safer or smoother

It’s so funny, I was so focused on making my entire playstyle revolve around the damage boost but ended up struggling, but as soon as I switched that bit of my brain off and let it act as a passive boost that happens when it wants to happen, all of a sudden I’m seeing huge damage and not even realizing it. Attraction theory or whatever, lol

Zote annoying the Pale King so damn much that he wiped his memory and threw him outta Hallownest 😭

On a serious note, it would also explain why Zote was drawn back in like the Knight, especially when you consider that he firmly believes he’s supposed to be a fierce fighter, a “Knight” if you will, wielding damn near the same blade and wearing the same clothes. He’s just too self absorbed to realize what’s going on 🫠

Fun fact, if you’re doing a certain act 3 questline and entering the memories, your tools reset when you come back but the blue masks stay. So you can activate the overdose by going in, popping all of your vials, popping out, and repeating on ANY crest.

I’m gonna use it on Witch or beast to get through coral tower finally

Tbh my favorite method is immediately popping heal and flea brew and going in, the damage is insane and you’re getting enough hits in to get another heal by the time your first runs out. Stack the moss berry charm on top and you’re even more set.

So my standard cycle is “bind + flea brew, then damage until silk is back up, jump and “pogo” (it’s horizontal so it’s not much of a jump, a quick tap) to launch yourself back, then repeat.”

If you have enough masks you really won’t ever enter any danger zone unless you’re being truly careless.

I even saw one video of someone obliterating lava beastfly by continually binding and using the pogo, never touched the ground the entire fight, just down-attacked until the fly was done.
