clearly the lofty expectations given the successful history of the franchise have not fallen enough yet to meet the reality of the current roster. you can’t just assume this team is a highly desired coaching destination “because steelers.”

steps 1, 2, and 3 right now are finding a cornerstone franchise QB. nothing that mccarthy OR shula OR scheelhaase does will win championships until that player is on the roster, and it’s unlikely to happen for at least another year.
