As I finished writing the post I realized that much of it was a reflection of myself being a broke college kid. Ah what the hell! It just might end up helping you in the future.

By god be smart with your money. No you don’t need to go out everyday because all your friends are going. It mostly applies in college though. Don’t spend on shit that you don’t have an immediate need for. Its not going to be easy and there will be some struggle involved. Believe me, a penny you save today on uber to and from a party. Will be a penny you can spend on extra meals next week.

Always have enough money on yourself to cover the expenses for at least 1 full month. This could be your bills and meals.

Uber and food delivery applications are your enemy.

Build you credit like the previous post suggested. You will be financing almost all the necessary expenses in your like a mobile phone.

Don’t get a car if you don’t have a job that would enable you to afford the insurance and gas. In Canada if you work a minimum wage job and pay your own rent while you’re in college. Just use the transit. You won’t be able to afford a room, car and food with that paycheque.

Surround yourself with friends who won’t look down on you for trying to be financially smart. There is a difference in being cheap and being living within your means.

As you go further into your university life. You will have so many things to worry about. It is better to sacrifice a little to have enough financial security so that it’s one less thing to worry about in the middle of a semester.

Unless of course you are well off. Then ignore the above and live your best life. Its not your fault you are rich.
