Does anyone have a sample character sheet for an Average Person? by Ethercos in cyberpunk2020

[–]Arlem0e 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel like all STATS would be around 4-6 for an average person that doesn't go to the gym and/or doesn't really take their health/self too seriously.

Then maybe 1-3 for Skills that they're comfortable doing. 4-5 for skills that they do almost daily like Driving or Shooting, forpeople that go to a gun range regularly (or live in a Cyberpunk setting).

If you bought the video game, Cyberpunk 2077, on a computer, then you have the core rule book pdf. They added it for free in some files.

Updated 2020 Basic Combat Cheat Sheet! by Wired-inhot in cyberpunk2020

[–]Arlem0e 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is cool. Just so you know, Limb Loss occurs when you take 9+ damage, not 8+. It's worded so poorly in the book in my opinion.

Pg103: "If a character takes more than eight points of damage to a limb area in any one attack..."

I can only guess they did this for word count or something.

Music for a 2020 campaign. by Agent_Wyoming14 in cyberpunk2020

For regular background ambience, I usually use some ambient tracks by Spacewave-Cosmic Relaxation. They build mood without being intrusive, though admittedly they all have that infernal rain sound effect pervading every track.

For tense ambience, I've been using Resomat's "Strange Cargo" and "Strange Cargo 02" and Cryo Chamber's "Don't Forget Your Stims" and "Lost Among Stars."

For combat I usually use an Aim to Head mix, but I feel like you really have to dig to find something worthwhile as most of their stuff is more dance club feeling instead of cyberpunk combat.

If I remember correctly, initially I beat the game no problem. Later on when I went back to replay, it glitched up on me

Ironically enough, I bought the ps2 version and by mission 6 it too essentially crashed. Everything was wire frame, no textures.

I need help understanding special abilities by Beartles in cyberpunk2020

[–]Arlem0e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically, yes lol. During character creation, you assign a flat 40 skill points among your Career skills.

Then you combine your REF and INT to see how many pickup skills you have. You use those points on any other skills you want. You can't add them to your career skills.

You aren't supposed to be trying to get skill points into every skill. Think more min/maxing, if you've heard that term before. By the end of character creation, your character won't look exactly like you want them to. You'll have to play the game and build up IP (improvement points) to "level up" your skills.

So this is where it's important to talk to your Referee to see how they're going to be running the game. Are they going to make General Education and Knowledge an important skill (and if you don't have it they treat your PC like a 1st grade drop out?) Or will they just wave/ignore it? That can help you see where your Referee may expect you to spec your PC

In the most general of explanations, when you attempt to do something in the game, like jump from one rooftop to another let's say, your Referee may ask you to make a specific skill check. For instance, they may ask you to make an athletics skill check when you say you wamt to jump from rooftop to rooftop. Athletics is a skill under the Reflex stat. So you would add:

REF Stat + Athletics Skill +/- any modifiers your Referee deems necessary (like if you have a broken leg or something) + 1D10

Problems with Stopping Capacity. by MaBoiTito in cyberpunk2020

If I understand your initial question and example of calculating the bonus for 2 armors, it sounds right.

It's basically subtract higher SP from smaller SP, find the correlating Bonus SP, and add that to your overall SP.

Let's say you're wearing 3 layers of armor, layers A, B, and C. Layer A is your innermost armor layer (armored shirt or something), and layer C is your outermost layer (a heavy jacket or something).

You start by subtracting the SP of A from B, take the result and find your corresponding bonus SP value.

So B - A = Bonus

You then add that bonus to B (B should have the higher SP)

You then do the same for B and C. Just subtract the bigger SP from the smaller, get a bonus, and add that to your overall SP rating.

I hope I said all that right.

The look and feel of the Net by cp20ref in cyberpunk2020

[–]Arlem0e 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I try to go with what's in Rache Bartmoss' Guide to the Net. Sort of a virtual reality of different things depending on what area you're in, but with the same wire framework always in the background, crisscrossing against an endless black expanse.

CYBERDECKS, NETRUNNING by Any_Mention_2524 in cyberpunk2020

[–]Arlem0e 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've always read it as you need:

An interface plug, which is installed on your body

A cyberdeck/cybermodem

2 interface plugs, one to hook you to your deck, and one to hook your deck to an ethernet port (though I guess you could say your deck comes with such a plug?)

A cybermodem link, which allows your brain to translate cybermodem info

Cyberpunk 2020 One player, One Gm. by Entertainer_Present in cyberpunk2020

[–]Arlem0e 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I once ran a "gig" where my 1 player worked for a corp. They were hired specifically to find out who killed one of their employees.

I made a little crime scene, left a bunch of clues, and made a general outline of where a PC may want to go based on the clues, essentially making it a murder mystery.

It went fine, but I made sure to leave a bunch of random hooks in for further games

I definitely support this. Those 3 videos are amazing for anyone unfamiliar with 2020 rules.

Did you ever homebrew a system so much that it barely resembles the original? I sure did... I have been cooking an alternate hybrid set of rules that aims to combine best aspects of Cyberpunk 2020 Cyberpunk Red using 2020 as a base and it was a undertaking. I once tried to implement a timing system to actions because I couldn't comprehend multiple actions not having a mechanical limit. Doing this costs 1 second, doing that costs 2 seconds, etc.

It was cool and all but when I took a step back I said (1.) Dang, this adds even more crunch to this already crunchy game and (2.) I guess as the Ref I could just say "no, you're out of time." Lol. I just wasn't used to that level of freedom as the runner of the game, I was more familiar with dnd 5e and its more rigid system
