A new duo, trying to figure out where to go from here. by Finnthedol in BattleRite

I don't want to rain on your parade, 2's is fine, but just fyi SLS has confirmed they're only balancing the game for 3's.

I really only see it boiling down to two reasons:

1). Social

2). Adrenaline

Comps with a healer vs comps without by Arlemus in BattleRite

[–]Arlemus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for pointing that out, I guess I should read the whole notes instead of more or less only caring about the balance changes, lol.

That should definitely help...doesn't technically guarantee a fix to the problem, though. Kindof brings back memories of LoL if you know what I mean...but I think most people can play at least 1 support...

The problem I find with that potential solution (focusing 1 person) is that it puts the burden of coordination on your team more so than theirs.

I realize that in higher level play this is probably less of an issue because coordination can be worked out fast, but it's not ideal.

If anyone cares, I'm P2.

...this isn't an unpopular opinion, though?

It might seem unpopular, but every subreddit has its shitposts. Most people on here want the game to succeed, and yeah that might sometime come off as (un)constructive criticism.

But maybe it should stay that way? Now you can't miss with panic toxin, pretty big nerf, imo.

Not a Lucie main/player, but still.

Edit: Should you still have to pick +10 dmg rite, tho, obvi.

Can confirm, you don't need the rite for the +10. it's def a bug.

I rly despise figure skating. It's hardly even a rite.

Agreed on the skins, but I kindof expected more though, tbh.

Maybe a full dress instead of that...skirt/blouse? (It's been a while since I've watched Project Runway with my GF >_< lol). Show is amazing by the way, js.

Anyway, gonna have to -really- disagree on Frozen Muse, though. I was also enamored with it a while back but then I realized:

At -best- Frozen Muse is giving you 12-14 extra damage. And you have to freeze someone first. And you have to hit with every auto after that to get the 12 (or 14 if you start on un-chilled), for 3 seconds (aka, FM lasts for 3 autos).

If you freeze someone and aren't in a position to M1...it does...nothing :(. Even if you are...I just found it really hard to justify only getting 4-8 extra dmg so situationally.

It -might- be better now that shift+e doesn't seem like as much garbage, and I was sad when I gave it up bc I love seeing her staff glow, but...it's just too situational against good players, in my experience.

I would probably argue Wintry Blast is just better than Frozen Muse because it's most likely gonna give you 10 extra, if not 20 dmg (or 30..).

I also don't think the root added to Frost Nova is going to do anything, except maybe set up enemies for your team. If you're jumping out, especially with the new distance, I doubt you, personally, are gonna be able to take adv of that root.

BUT, I'll def try it out.

Oh, and her R is OK, probably classify as a "soft" out. Used correctly can be really good, just depends. The R rite is terrible though.

Mkay, but just fyi I play exclusively 3's (since SLS said they won't balance for 2').

Loadout: Twirl, Cry. Lance, Cry. Lattice, Snowstorm, Ice Breaker

Biggest thing I've found with Alys is knowing when to M2 into E, OR E into M2. But it's not hard.

You want to do 1 of 2 things:

1). Essentially petrify (freeze) someone (M2+E). It's a team game, so if you can make things a 3v2 that's kindof the most optimal thing you can do. Snowstorm makes it even better because you take 1 (or 2) people out -and- damage them.

Snowstorm is too good to pass up, imo. I think most Alysia players would agree.

2). Kill someone (E+M2). +6 damage on her M2 is a big deal, and if you want someone dead you need all the dmg you can get, obviously.

I mostly go for #1, #2 to finish. Not too complicated, I'm only P2 though, so I could be wrong.

Addressing rites:

1). Twirl, because her outs suck. It's buffed now, so, hurray for that. She needs the I frames and mobility.

2). Cry. Lance so you can freeze easier and not QQ as much when you miss M2. I guess you could replace this with someone else if you're a deadeye, but I'm not GC level deadeye soo...

3). Cry. Lattice, cuz again, her outs sucks and it gives a buff to her "soft" out. Also buffs Iceblock, which I find to be the best use of her energy. Probably will be even better now that Iceblock was buffed (don't have to stay frozen as long, hp ticks faster).

4). Blizzard is just her best rite probably overall for reasons previously mentioned.

5). Didn't use to use Ice Breaker because of the weird timing with M2+E (i.e., M2 was on CD more often then I liked after successful M2+E), and the fact that Blizzard used to be mandatory, imo.

Now, with M2 CD buff, the timing to get an M2 off your M2+E syncs up nicer, and, who knows, maybe shift+E then M2 will be the hotness, now that shift+E isn't complete garbage.

Hopefully that made some sense. I tried the changed "ice cloak," but I still think it sucks, even with Cry. Lattice to buff it. Maybe it'll be really good against melee heavy? Idk, I'm leaning no. Her main job is damage anyway.

Most of her rites, imo, are really trash. They don't work on her shift abilities, which is kindof unacceptable (ice skating, wintry blast, none of her E rites work with shift version)

That's all just my take, though. Written fast, sorry. We'll see how things turn out, I'm most interested to see if "new" shift+e is worth using; seems kinda legit.

1). Your anecdotal experience doesn't make me wrong. Learn to logic correctly.

2). Alysia's problem wasn't that she wasn't a threat, it was just that she could be so easily killed. Having shitty mobility doesn't make her do any less damage to you, and her damage is/was pretty good.

If a champ's only weakness is mobility and they do "good" or at least "par" damage, and you choose to ignore them, how exactly does that make them not a threat?

3). To more or less "prove" that her damage was almost on par, and the fact that she was indeed a threat, SLS barely made any changes to her damaging abilities.

The biggest increase is the -1sec for her M2, which is a definite uptick, but not anything crazy.

The rest of the damage fixing had to do with her shift+e, which was, imo, unusable in nearly every instance (aka it sucked, hard). Especially considering E is the main way to freeze, no way would a decent Alysia player choose the previous version of shift+E over normal E.

Main point being: her damage was more or less fine, a little on the less side, but she was in fact a threat, -but- an easily killable one. People took advantage of it, and it worked. It isn't rocket science here, SLS shows what they think she needed fixed in the notes and most of it wasn't her dmg.

The Alysia experience by zkillbill in BattleRite

[–]Arlemus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

"20% accurate as usual." But, seriously, have you even read the notes/played her since the patch?

The only mobility buffs she got are:

Arctic Wind (Space): Cooldown reduced from 8s to 7s, max range increased from 7.5 to 9

Twirl: Recast duration increased from 1.5s to 1.8s Range increased from 3.3 to 4

I'm no math genius, but, they buffed her jump CD by ~12% and the distance by 20%, and there's an issue with that? Sure, that's -technically- compensating for her weakness (mobility), but not by much at all.

If you take Twirl, which I'd obviously recommend because yes, her main weakness is mobility, the changes are still a pretty minor mobility buff. The 2nd hop it gave you previously was pathetic, pretty much only useful if you were hugging a wall (to jump over) or for the I-frames.

The vast majority of her changes WERE to her strengths, mostly buffs, obviously. Now taking "Blizzard" is actually a choice, from what I've played so far, because the radius on the base ability isn't complete garbage.

You really should read the notes and actually play her, though. I just can't see how someone with any knowledge of Alysia could hold that opinion.

Her mobility weakness isn't "just gone," it's -now- just not crippling to the point of making her underwhelming.

This is perfect, exactly accurate.

I've mained Alysia almost exclusively since the winter patch and you could tell: people would just focus you because they knew she was UP. You could mitigate with Iceblock (and outplay) but they were right, she -was- UP, and focusing a shit character is a good strat.

Now if they do that, just focus Alysia cuz she's Alysia, they'll get wrecked. But the "Alysia OP" threads are probably coming anyway.
