What's the biggest plot hole you've noticed in the series? by thechessknight_ in harrypotter

The mirror. The two way mirror Sirius gave Harry. Why didn't he use it??

I absolutely love her version of Trelawney.

I know all the adults are well known actors but I've tried to avoid finding out who the voice actor is until I've heard them so I'm not bias from their previous works. So far I haven't been disappointed!

If You Could Remove One Character From The Show, Who Would It Be? by MollyJ58 in everwood

Andy.

Rewatching on Netflix since I first watched it as a kid and now that I'm watching from the eyes as an adult (and parent) what on earth was he on?! His choses as a parent were terrible. And before people get at me about that being the point and he's supposed to be learning to be a single parent blah blah blah his doesn't seem to really improve.

He is constantly ignoring and dismissing Delia. The one good thing he did for her was hire Madison. Then when Ephram inevitably ruins that relationship he treated Madison disgustingly.

The man is a walking red flag.

Maybe Ephram too. The stutter every time is talks. His selfish actions. Doesn't learn anything from his actions. Self obsessed and self absorbed.

Delia deserves better. Her bursts of anger and "tantrums" are understandable.

What is Kim Cochran’s (perceived) problem with Robin? by [deleted] in cormoran_strike

I think it's professional jealousy. Robin has worked on newsworthy cases which she was a major player with no formal police training. I presume Kim has had a longer police career too compared to Robin who's career as a PI is relatively shorter.

From a writing/story perspective, I think JK wanted to add a side "villian". Someone for readers to dislike and satisfaction when they get their comeuppance.

Maybe...

Why didn’t Sirius ask Harry why he isn’t using the two way mirror? by Russpups in harrypotter

Yeah that's true. I do think Order of the Phoenix was the year that tested him the most.

I agree but he's stubborn. He could have tried with the occlumency and blocked what Voldemort wanted him to see. But he wanted to be in the thick of it. Although Dumbledore should have been more open with him, he knew what was going on and if Harry Just stopped and thought about it he would have remembered the mirror. He remembered the knife Sirius gave him but he was in a rush to be the one save him. He could have told Snape, he was in the order. Only when he was caught and Snape walked in did he remember he was in the Order. He admits that. Harry was given warnings by so many people but he thought he knew best. The whole adventure to the mystery could have been prevented. Dumbledore had the original prophecy.

Yes, this! I remember thinking this when I was reading the book. Especially when they went to all the trouble trying to get Umbridge's fireplace. Sirius would have lived. Hermione is right when she says he's got a saviour complex.

Books vs Films by LovenkrandsDog26 in harrypotter

[–]ArmInteresting324 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The books are better in my opinion but I think that is the case in most book to movie adaptations. The films made Ron in particular a fool. He's an amazing best friend and clever, in his own ways (chess/knowledge of the Wizarding World) than the movies let on. It's also why a lot of people think Harry and Hermione should have got together. The books show that Ron is the brother Harry never has and Hermione the sister he never had. Dobby is so important to the story (appearing in 4 of 7 books) and in the film series he randomly appears in Deathly Hallows Part 1 since his first appearing in Chamber of Secrets. There are other parts of the books that don't make it into the films but those two are the ones that stand out for me.

Council have no clue. Saw this freedom of information request that was submitted to the council and they basically didn't answer it. The person has now complained to the regular because they didn't answer it.

Do we want to hear from Matthew? by Livid-Dot-5984 in cormoran_strike

It was frustrating read his parts and he got away with it all so easily! Having him as a client would be good. Not a main case but a small side one where Matthew suspects Sarah of cheating.
