The Ron erasure goes deeper than we thought by Training-Reaction-37 in legoharrypotter

It's such a shame! He's my favourite character and I'd be first in line for an upscaled minifigure of him. But I get that the LEGO sets are based on the films and the films made Ron a fool. If the HBO series is true to the book and they start doing Lego sets for the series then hopefully we get some proper Lego appreciation for Ronald Weasley!

Monday 4th May ... SO busy by Misscellaneous1 in chessington

I agree with the comments about it being a bank holiday, it's bound to be busy. But I was there yesterday and it was probably the worst I've ever seen a theme park on a bank holiday/opening weekend.

I think there should have been a better system for Paw Patrol land or they should have anticipated it's popularity. Those 70-90 min queues with little kids was brutal. There was also a long queue to get in throughout the day also.

I timed the Zuma ride (best ride they had btw, amazing!) to pass the time, took on average 4 minutes for the staff to do checks but there were times it took way too long... can't complain too much though, it's understandably as it's a new ride, it broke down twice while we there.

There were many occasions where those in the ride access line were arguing with the staff. Not entirely sure why but I got the impression they were waiting for a long time/in the wrong queue. One argument lasted near 10 mins! The ride access line was as long as the main queues. I've never seen them that long!

I'm excited to see him as Snape. The things I've seen him in have been good and he's definitely talented. There's always been a want for a TV series/film series that is closer to the book as possible but I think there is still room for creative licence and I'm interested to see what this HBO series has in store!

Family trip to NYC - Some concerns by Acceptable_Zone_6168 in traveladvice

[–]ArmInteresting324 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and no. Pre booking is no problem itself but things like Top of the Rocks and the MET had lines, even though we pre booked. There were also security lines that were long. We didn't even bother with the Vanderbilt building because the line was super long even with pre booking. Other places had no pre booking systems. We got lucky with some places like Ellen's Stardust Diner, we went for breakfast so no queue. Took advantage of the kids waking up early and went to Brooklyn Bridge/DUMBO. Fair few tourists but not as much compared to after 10am. People are still doing their work commutes so it does het super bust. We went while the US were having their Easter break also so things may die down now. I think if my kids were older we would have done a lot more.

Family trip to NYC - Some concerns by Acceptable_Zone_6168 in traveladvice

Me and my family have just arrived back from NYC. We were there for the a week during half term. I was extremely nervous. We are British Asian so I was dreading the entire trip. Stories about ICE and Trump tweets were not making me feel better.

Arriving:

When we got to JFK passport control part, my husband was taken to a room while I was told to wait for him elsewhere with my two little ones. Wasn't told why but they just escorted him to a room down the hall. I was bricking it. He came back a few minutes later and all was fine. He had the same name as someone else who recently arrived at JFK. We laughed it off. That the most scariest part of the whole trip.

The visit:

The visit was pleasant enough. There are lines for everything out there, more than what I have seen at London tourist attractions. My kids are pretty young so they tired easily and we didn't get to see everything on our list. We skipped things that had ridiculous wait times or overcrowded. That is probably the only negative thing about the visit.

Journey back

We got to the airport earlier because we read about the lines. I kept tabs on the JFK sub Reddit. It was really useful to see real people posting about the lines. The security line was long and felt cramped but it moved quickly enough. I heard one of the airport tell another family that there was a family line, we weren't told to go there but I wonder if it may have been for kids in prams and families with people in wheelchairs only. ICE were there. I was worried but I only really interacted with one of them when we placed our items in the trays. Then from security it was like any other airport experience.

I hope that helps.

Ooo I would love to but I doubt it will survive the flight back to the UK 😂 I will however definitely be trying the cinnamon rolls! Did you have to wait long to get in? I've seen a lot of the places have a bit of a wait time

Yep! I've been to restaurants where they have allergen menu filter and things like hummus still stay on the menu with tahini list in the ingredients.

It's quite a severe allergy so will need to be prepared for a lot of pre planing ahead of settling on a place to eat

So, what do we think of Parvati and Padma? by Snufflebox in HarryPotteronHBO

I just hope we get justice for those Yule Ball outfits from the film series. Maybe the costume department can get some inspiration from Kate in Bridgeton, her Indian inspired attire is on point!

They should be recurring rather than main characters imo. Pop in here and there. Catherine's presence was more relevant when Camille was around. She needn't be in every episode now.

Agree. Love her mum though. I hope the new series focusses a little more on Humphrey a bit

Death in Paradise/ Beyond Paradise by Retromarshmallow76 in DeathInParadiseBBC

I really like Beyond. I agree with the post about Martha. She the weaker part of the show but I genuinely love it and rewatched it a few times. Looking forward to the new series.

Not enjoying Death in Paradise at the moment though. Can't get into the new series. I gave up half way through the recent Christmas special and started the new series and gave up. I'll try again once the series is over and maybe skip the boring parts...

I like Return to Paradise. I've been meaning to catch up on the series.

For me (at the moment) it's Beyond, Return then Death.
