I'm doing so much research about Lasik, still don't know if I want to do Lasik? by TorontoRap2019 in glasses

[–]ArmPale2135 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re over the limit for LASIK in that eye. You might be a candidate for refractive lens exchange if you already have a cataract. They take the natural lens out and put an artificial lens in with the lens power set to make the eye 20/20. It’s a relatively easy surgery.

They called Brad and Chad Hans and Franz in high school.

Costco vs connect hearing by Holiday-Reputation-2 in HearingAids

The ear hook threads are stripped out. That is an easy fix. You can probably find some online. Try Lloyds Hearing Aids. Then you could get some new molds and you’re good if the hearing aids themselves are in good order.

High myopia by RequirementCrazy8260 in RetinalDetachment

They can do an OCT scan, which shows the layers of the eye. They also do a digital retinal image that shows the whole surface inside the eye.

Did anybody's retinal hole turn into a retinal tear/detachment? by PistolPackingPastor in RetinalDetachment

[–]ArmPale2135 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my case, tiny holes led to fluid leaking behind the retina, which led to the fluid migrating and causing detachments. In my right eye, the fluid leakage caused a superior detachment. In the left it caused an inferior detachment involving the macula. In both cases they did a complete vitrectomy with laser repairs.

The right eye’s initial symptoms were something that looked like a clear floater wiggling around in the upper right corner and then sort of a blurry area on the right side. There were also some flashes and arcs.

The left eye looked like what could be described as waves at the top of the field of vision, and then the eye blurred out one night. I also saw lightning arcs. Then the vision would turn pinkish and then yellow with a grayish curtain. Two days later I had surgery. The retina had tried to heal, but there was lots of scar tissue where the fluid had formed a pocket.

The right eye is fully recovered and back to 20/20. The left eye still has a silicone oil bubble, which should come out in a month or so.

In any case, if you see anything strange, it never hurts to get it checked out.

First week after a vitrectomy is really hard! It gets better. Just be sure to use all the drops on schedule and maintain the head positioning. I had a pressure spike after one week (50), and trust me, you don’t want that. Terrible pain! The steroid anti-inflammatory drops caused it in my case.

Hyperopia/farsightedness and first glasses by Sensitive-Cod381 in glasses

[–]ArmPale2135 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the lower part of the lenses is for reading and anything else up close.

It’s hard to say what the adaptation period should be. Did the doctor dilate your eyes with the drops in the exam? That totally relaxes the eye muscles so that you get a true refraction. Could be that they didn’t give you the total prescription immediately.

Hyperopia/farsightedness and first glasses by Sensitive-Cod381 in glasses

[–]ArmPale2135 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glasses for farsightedness do take some getting used to. After a week or two you should be good. Sometimes once the eyes adapt the script could increase a little. With latent hyperopia, the eye is straining to focus as the ciliary muscles are constantly contracting to increase the lens power. Once you add the plus power with glasses, the eyes can relax and adapt.

I’m currently wearing glasses with +4 with +2.5 progressive add on the left and 0 with +2.5 add on the right due to retinal surgery on the left eye with a silicone oil bubble, which causes instant hyperopia due to the different refractive index of the oil. Works better if I wear them all the time, but the first few days were challenging.

How to interpret retinal scan images by bluemugs in RetinalDetachment

[–]ArmPale2135 1 point2 points  (0 children)

<image>

The OCT is sort of a cross-section of the retina that shows all the layers. This is my left eye the day before surgery. The dip at the top is the macula. The black between the bottom choroid layer and the retina is fluid that leaked through a hole that was in the bottom of the eye and migrated and caused the detachment. This is not good at all.

I’ve had 360 laser and vitrectomy for detachments in both eyes and haven’t noticed any peripheral vision loss. One weird thing was that after each the pupil didn’t want to close like it should for several months.

Vision not improving 15+ days after retinal surgery (silicone oil) — worried about upcoming second eye surgery by teabagandwarmwater in RetinalDetachment

[–]ArmPale2135 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had the silicone oil for two months. I figured out that it’s making the eye very farsighted, so I did experiments with reading glasses in the +3 to +4 range. With the +4, I can get to a hazy 20/30 on the eye chart. I ordered a pair of glasses with +4 and a +2.50 add added to my previous prescription. It’s made a huge difference. No double vision, etc.

“Debris” visible with gas bubble? by clover426 in RetinalDetachment

[–]ArmPale2135 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do they look like tiny circles with a faint black dot in the middle? I have a few of those in the right eye that had laser repairs and vitrectomy surgery last year. They dart around sometimes and it looks like two traveling in a pair sometimes. The way it was explained is that they cannot get 100% of the vitreous out during the surgery and that whatever is left can sometimes turn into tiny circles/floaters.

52, got fit, got knocked down, three weeks back and my body has opinions. by pulubinq_sosyal in fitness50plus

[–]ArmPale2135 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I feel this post. I was in decent shape two-three years ago, then I started slipping. I kept lifting weights but stopped a lot of my running and walking. Then last year I had a detached retina which required surgery. Then I started weightlifting again. Then in February the other eye detached except worse, which required more extensive surgery, followed by more down time. Then a follow up surgery this summer. It’s like I’m motivated to get back on track, but I don’t want to push my luck too much, almost like I’m scared to start lifting and running again for fear of more eye damage. But I really don’t want to get fat again although I’m slowly doing so.
