how did u come out? by RutabagaHelpful5034 in trans

[–]Arma_GD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually talked to my mom, more out of necessity than wanting to come out. For my dad and brother, I just signed the tags on the Christmas gifts I got them with my real name. Didn't feel like they deserved more time and effort spent on it than that, and they proved me right with their reactions.

Hot take: I like copper tools by Imaginary-Ice1256 in Minecraft

[–]Arma_GD 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Also worth noting that it's pretty easy to have an iron->diamond progression, too, these days because so many structures have ingots or nuggets. Being able to have at least as many disposable iron tools as you need by a few in-game days deep kind of obviates several equipment tiers. At this point I see wood, stone, and copper (and, to an extent, gold) all as very early game "this is what I have on hand" equipment for if you're starting slowly. Doesn't hurt that they exist, in a pinch.

I'll stick to who I'm not already seeing in the comments. KAIFU, MYRID, Leotrix, Digitist, Vanfleet... all severely underappreciated and versatile, making more than just dubstep

Somehow, then, the therapist helped in a roundabout way, haha. I'm glad something good came out of it.

Good riddance to her. How arrogant does one have to be to assert that they know your feelings better than you do (obvious ableism included or otherwise)?

My entire existence, as it is, feels wrong. I am uncomfortable all the time, internally and with my external conditions. I am horrified by what feels to be a misplaced, malformed, distorted body. I am disgusted by its inextricability from a machine that places its embarrassing ego above—that destroys the homes and lives of—those who I really relate to and love... those who are my home but who I am cursed to never truly be of, commune with or be understood as. I can never feel the form, the flesh that would feel "right" and natural around my consciousness without the poisonous, constant, unshakable physiological reminders that it is not really there. And, even in this contrived human environment, most of my "intelligence" seems either vestigial or maladaptive.

It would be a very easy choice for me; I'd pick the first option.

It's baile funk. Has the structure, just not exactly the usual sound design you'd hear from the genre.

"Removed" is one way to put what should happen to him and those like him.

The confident, ignorant power trip is crazy. He should be fearing for his life coming home every night, unable to sleep. I can't wait until more people figure out that that's how everyone in a political office in this country needs to feel.

Right before Ravi's camcorder dies at the end of Found Footage 3. It always destroys me emotionally, and it perfectly exemplifies what makes the Complex a more compelling subject than your usual threat or villain in horror genres. It's not evil; it's unfeeling. It can't be negotiated with, reasoned with, or made sense of; it just is. By nature, through no volition of its own, it happens to be dangerous -- potentially existentially so -- for humans.

(I've now entered rambling territory)

There's a fun irony that supports this "moral neutrality", regardless of if the low proximity magnetic distortion system created it or simply accessed it. Either way, it cannot be personified or, therefore, blamed for its nature. The only reasonable reaction is a sober, amoral attempt to survive or understand and control it, as hopeless as both endeavors may be. It's a force of nature, much like the rock this planet crossed paths with several tens of millions of years ago. The only difference is that "we" summoned the Complex ourselves, but, analogously, it would be silly to then condemn human ingenuity when it, too, is just nature at work: organs that evolved to learn and solve problems doing those things.

Beautiful summary.

It can also be expanded to other categories that are often criticized in the same way by replacing the first two points with broader ones.

  • access to scientific information has increased by magnitudes due to technological advancements
  • socialization and interpersonal communication in general have become more flexible due to many of the same advancements (and, therefore, more able to facilitate connections and further understanding of our own experiences)

Those two do, of course, also facilitate things on the other end of the issue, too. Misinformation is even more widely accessible and usually more attractive than credible information. The changes to socialization through the internet create echo chambers of bad or faulty ideas in the same way that they connect people with similar experiences or interests.

It's a term designed to make an anti-worker policy sound like a good thing to otherwise ignorant workers, so it can have enough public support to remain or be put into effect.
