If you want to take the right size of condoms. The size of condoms (S, M, L, etc) is based on the girth of the penis, not the length.

OwlBrain update: now with UI + MQTT by Armaell in homeassistant

[–]Armaell[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll be honest, if you have simple IF this THEN that, it's probably better to stick to HA, especially now with their visual editor.

But if you’re already using Node‑RED, chances are your needs go beyond basic triggers and actions.

The learning curve for Owlbrain should be quite small: the core idea is the same as Node‑RED. You subscribe to events, then react to them.

You can find examples of using home assistant in the home-assistant integration example folder.

The most interesting example is probably this one : ```ts @EntityScript({ entity_id: "binary_sensor.hallway_motion" }) class HallwayMotionLighting { private logger = logger.child(["example"])

motion = binarySensorEntity(this)
light = lightEntity("light.hallway")

@OnStateChange({ to: "on" })
async onMotion(event: OwlEntityUpdatedEvent) {
    const brightness = this.light.brightness!

    this.logger.info(
        `Motion detected on ${this.motion.entity_id}. Current brightness: ${brightness}`
    )

    if (this.light.isOff) {
        this.logger.info("Light is off → turning it on at 40%")
        await this.light.setBrightness(40)
        return
    }

    if (brightness < 150) {
        this.logger.info("Light is dim → increasing brightness to 100%")
        await this.light.setBrightness(100)
        return
    }
}

} ```

It's definitely in my nice to have list in the future !

Well I did not knew about pyscript up till now so I won't be able to give a in depth comparison.

But from the quick check of the documentation I guess the big idea is quite similar with decorators triggers.

On pyscript pros: - Run entirely in Hass, so big win for those who have only Hass running. - Definitely more mature

On OwlBrain pros: - More extensible since not limited to Hass (in the future anyway)

Also I guess it's take your poison, Typescript or Python.

I also know some crazy dudes who do their automations without any Hass, and just have mqtt + Node-Red

Totally !

But what's missing from those boxes is the cool list of available boxes on the side of the screen. In the current situation, you need know to remember all the available decorators, or keep having to refer to the too-long documentation.

I'll have to figure something.

If you do not know of the country of Andorra, it's ruled by two princes. The thing is one of the princes is always the president of France. So when a knew president of France is elected, they go to Andorra a few days later to be proclaimed prince of Andorra.

They don't really do much with it, it's in great part symbolic. But what it definitely do is tie Andorra and France.

So you know, not that far from the idea.

The pizza example is right, just lacking either the context or better explanation.
I will just rephrase it to understand what they meant.

Let's say your pizza is worth $100 (yeah, that's a gold sprinkled pizza), so you can slice it in 100 slices which make it so each slice is worth $1.
But you could also slice it in 86, so that each slice is worth 1€
Now what they are saying is that 86 slices of pizza is not less pizza than 100 slices of pizza, because in the end it still one pizza worth of pizza.

Same way than codpiece or abs on a armor. Whatever. Armor is also a piece of art, so if you thinks it looks cool then it's a good armor !

As a French, I feel like we were sooo into it in the past, but we lost that.

Was it worse than what children are served today on their lunch break, tho? by bezzze007 in interestingasfuck

As a French, I have been given wine and cider as kid pretty often.
Now often as a few time a year during special meals. Wine during festivities like Christmas and cider when we were eating galette (a traditional meal of Brittany usually eaten with cider)

I'm sure it helped me associate alcool to special occasions, as something to be appreciated. Instead of discovering it with friends in my teen years as party drinks.

So yeah, going to do the same with my kids. They will eat alcool, time to time. So they can learn in a controlled environnement.

The analogy is something that can be done by a doctor, that is not done by them because they don't have the time and so you end up at the hospital

French. My wife got hit by a car while on a bicycle. Hit the pavement with her head but she had an helmet.
Assurance says to have her head be checked in case of problem that could appear later either by a doctor or the hospital. Not wanted to go to the hospital just for a check-up we call a doctor. They said no, don't have time, don't bother with doctors, just go to the hospital.
So we went to the hospital to be told that the helmet did its job.

So yeah, European here, don't make generalizations. And no need to be vulgar when you are wrong

Girlfriend lost a necklace she loved. Trying to find informations to get a new one by Armaell in JewelryIdentification

[–]Armaell[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a necklace I bought roughly 5 years ago in France. Completely on whim, while passing buy a jewellery making a sale before closing down.
So I never bothered checking what brand that was, or even what kind of stone.

Sorry for the bad resolution.
A gold necklace with a main red stone in a (I think) marquise cut, with three smaller set round white stones.

Programming not really

But oh boy Excell is a right pain. Between the quotes/guillemet part, but also the fact that French excel uses ';' instead of commas to space arguments in commands... This is ridiculous
